Driekoningenbanket, Hallo vriend(inn)en van JCI Gent, Naar jaarlijkse traditie gaan we in januari eten met leden, oudleden, kandidaat-leden, geinteresseerden van onze afdeling, het zogenaamde driekoningenbanket. Hierbij zijn ook de partners welkom.

Welcome to the fourth edition of the TarraCo 2011 News! Are you curious what information we have included into this edition? The whole COC team had a meeting in Tarragona in November so that all of us could see the places where the conference events will take place. Tarragona is a very nice city, small enough to walk everywhere, you see the beach and the sea from the HQ hotel (and the Roman Amphitheatre!) and there are very nice views from other places too. So I recommend to everybody to register now and to join us for an extraordinary conference with a great program, venues, enthusiastic COC team who works really hard to surprise you with things you would not experience otherwise. Joyful reading and we look forward to seeing you in Tarragona next year! Martina and the whole JCI EC 2011 Team JCI EC 2011 PROGRAM KEYNOTE SPEAKERS We would like to introduce two more keynote speakers who have confirmed their attendance at theEuropean Conference 2011 in Tarragona: Joan Jubert and Amadeu Roig JOAN JUBERT Joan Jubert has been managing important commodity companies for 20 years, always getting involved himself to achieve important challenges, as well as to improve customers’ experience. Joan has always done and sold business and shared business ideas and concepts with customers and partners. However, in the last years his main goal has been to help other businessmen to “repensarlasevaempresa”: to rethink their companies in order to put value on their strengths, to question the business in order to find out new ways of working and take advantage of Joan’s broad experience and forward-looking approach to grow and improve their results.

CONFERENCE OFFICIAL GUIDED TOURS Tour to Reus (Duration: half-day tour) At the turn of the 20th century, Europe was swept by a Modernist movement that took on a unique personality in Catalonia. Reus, a bourgeois urban town, was, along with Barcelona, one of the cities to embrace the trend most strongly. The Reus "Modernist Trail" is a lovely way to explore the façades of the 26 most important Modernist buildings. Deep into GAUDI - MODERNISM, a route in which you can discover: - “Gaudí Centre” showing the life and the art work of Antoni Gaudí. - Prioral de Sant Pere´s Church. - Salvador Vilaseca´s School, the school where Gaudí studied. - Gaudi’s Birth Place and Sculpture. - Misericordia´s Sanctuary, a Renaissance Church. - Navàs House and Town Hall. Casa Navàs was built by Lluís Domènech i Montaner and it is an icon of modernism in Europe. - Plaça de Prim (Shopping area), Fortuny Theatre, Bartrina Theatre, Bofarull Palace are other sites of interest.

DID YOU KNOW...? WORLD FAMOUS CATALANS Other famous Catalan person is Montserrat Caballé. Montserrat Concepción Bibiana Caballé i Folch (Barcelona, Spain, 12 April 1933) Montserrat Caballé is a Spanish operatic soprano. Caballé's international breakthrough came in 1965 when she substituted for an indisposed Marilyn Horne in a semi-staged performance of Donizetti's Lucrezia Borgia at New York's Carnegie Hall, which earned her a 25-minute standing ovation. Caballé's duet with rock singer Freddie Mercury of Queen, "Barcelona", became a hit single in 1988. The title track later became the anthem of the 1992 Summer Olympics which was hosted by Caballé's native city. Caballé is known affectionately in the opera world as La Superba, a sign that she has reached the status of diva.

In het Eén-programma 'Voorbij De Grens' verlegden tien Vlamingen samen grenzen. Ze zijn vanaf hun geboorte of door omstandigheden beperkt in hun fysieke mogelijkheden.
