Kontich Sinds februari 2007 is “Philips Consumer Luminaires” actief als aparte Business Group binnen de Sector Lighting van Philips. Philips Consumer Luminaires ontwikkelt, produceert en verkoopt enkele duizenden (thuis) verlichtingsartikelen, gericht op de Europese en internationale markt. Wommelgem Philips Consumer Lighting Solutions is actief als Sales & Marketing Business Unit binnen de Sector Lighting van Philips en brengt meer dan 10.000 verlichtingsartikelen, onder de merken Philips, Lirio, Eseo en Massive op de Europese en internationale consumentenmarkt via diverse distributiekanalen. De verlichtingsmarkt voor consumenten is van strategisch belang voor Philips. Department Description: Binnen het development center gevestigd in Kontich worden nieuwe verlichtingsarmaturen bestemd voor de global consumer luminaires markt ontwikkeld. Daarnaast is het ook de locatie van het center of comptence voor Consumer Luminaires.De component engineering groep is deel van dit development center en is verantwoordelijk voor het specifieren en verifieren van kritische componenten, zoals lampen, ballasten, ledmodules en drivers voor een global consumer luminaire. Daarnaast is de implementatie van deze componenten in het uiteindelijke armatuur een kerntaak van deze groep.

Information: LED leveranciers bieden een waaier aan LED’s aan die onderverdeeld worden in bepaalde bins. Bij ontwikkeling van een module wordt er een evenwicht gezocht tussen prestatie en prijs. Dit levert op kleur gebied een bepaalde McAdam ellips op.Voor warmere CCT’s, is deze McAdam ellips voor sommige toepassingen nog te groot. Op module niveau moeten er dus extra kleur bins gedefinieerd worden.

Key areas of responsibility: Huidige kleurmeetsysteem in productie analyseren en eventueel optimaliseren of nieuw systeem voorstellen. Een aantal mogelijkheden zijn geïntegreerde bol, CCD camera, puls metingen, operationele conditie metingen, enz… Op basis van de gemeten McAdam ellips het huidige subbinning systeem op kleur analyseren en optimaliseren. Hierbij moet uitgegaan worden van een productie omgeving. Op basis van productie meetgegevens, in kaart brengen hoeveel percent gelegen is in een bepaald gebied van een McAdam ellips.

De commodity engineering groep is deel van dit development center en is verantwoordelijk voor het specifieren en verifieren van kritische componenten, zoals lampen, ballasten, ledmodules en drivers voor een consumer luminaire. Ook fungeren zei als het kenniscentrum voor de componenten gebruikt in de luminaires (de specialisten op het gebeid van lampen, elektronica, verven, sustainability,… Daarnaast is de implementatie van deze componenten in het uiteindelijke armatuur een kerntaak van deze groep.

Information: Een belangrijke toegevoegde waarde van Solid State Lighting Verlichting is de potentieel lange levensduur. Vergeleken met een gloeilamp met levensduur van 1000hr of 1 jaar gebruikerstijd, worden in de SSL-sector levensduren van 20.000hr of meer dan 20jaar gebruikerstijd geclaimd. De verschillende onderdelen van een luminaire moeten dan ook niet meer vervangbaar gemaakt worden. Het veiligstellen van deze levensduur voor de individuele componenten alsook het ganse luminaire is bijgevolg een belangrijk element geworden in de vrijgave van SSL-armaturen.

Het opstellen, uitvoeren en finetuning van DOE’s ter borging van de levensduur garantie op SSL armaturen en/of zijn kristische componenten zoals LED-modules en drivers. Design rules voor geoptimaliseerde levensduur opstellen.

Department Description: Philips Consumer luminairs ontwerpt en maakt verlichtingsarmaturen voor de consumenten markt. Het design en engineering ervan gebeurt in de vestiging in Kontich. Het eindwerk situeert zich in de component engineering afdeling, materials and finishes groep. Deze groep bouwt enerzijds het kenniscentrum uit rond topics zoals glas, hout, verven, anodiseren, galvaniseren, plastics, … Anderzijds is deze groep bezig met het uitbereiden van materiaal versus toepassing zodat designers en engineers een groter pallet van mogelijkheden ter beschikking hebben. Dit laatste wordt omkaderd door een roadmap process.

Information: Glas, metaal en plastic zijn materialen die frequent gebruikt worden in verlichtingsarmaturen. Voor onze design en engineering afdeling is het belangrijk om te weten welke beperkingen er zijn aan het gebruik van deze materialen als decoratief en/of functioneel materiaal. Daarenboven is het ook belangrijk te weten welke van deze beperkingen technologie/proces afhankelijk zijn, en welke leverancier gebonden zijn. Onze leveranciers bevinden zich in China.

Key areas of responsibility: Als resultaat van dit eindwerk gecombineerd met stage verwachten wij: • Een design & engineering rules boek waarin overzichtelijk de beperkingen van glas als decoratief en functioneel materiaal beschreven staat. • Een gap analyse tussen de kunde van onze bestaande leveranciers en de mogelijkheden op de markt.

Daarnaast is de implementatie van deze finishes in het uiteindelijke armatuur een kerntaak van deze groep.

Information: Voor consumentenproducten is de look & feel van een artikel van groot belang. Afwijkingen in ‘appearance’ van afzonderlijke onderdelen moeten tot een minimum beperkt worden, ook wanneer verschillende materialen en verftechnieken gebruikt worden. Het correct meten van glans, kleuren en kleurafwijkingen zijn hierbij van uiterst belang.

Uitzoeken welke meetmethode en welk systeem leidt tot het best aanleunt bij de waarneming van de klant. Opstellen wat binnen het gekozen systeem de toleranties zijn voor het waarneembare. Uitbreiden naar translucente kleuren en de link leggen naar lichtopbrengst. Bepalen wat de kost is om toleranties kleiner te maken en uitzoeken hoe bepaald kan worden.

Information: Binnen de component engineering zijn we reeds op de hoogte hoeveel licht elke lichtbron genereert maar, op artikel niveau is dit echter onduidelijk. In de consumer market is er momenteel geen echte normering wat betreft de lichthoeveelheid die een bepaald artikel moet afgeven of hoeveel licht nodig is in een bepaalde ruimte. Afhankelijk van de wensen van de klant kan dit sfeervol, functioneel, decoratief of zelfs alledrie. Zo is strooilicht in decoratieve toepassingen meestal gewenst terwijl dit in professionele situaties niet van toepassing is.

Samen met marketing in kaart brengen wat referentie artikelen zijn in onze bestaande portofolio (±9000 ref) voor verschillende toepassingen en verschillende lichtbronnen. Huidig meetsysteem en procedures analyseren, optimaliseren en implementeren. Opmeten van bovenstaande referentie artikelen en het creëren van een naslagwerk hierover. In kaart brengen wat de invloed is op de lichthoeveelheid van het gehele artikel tov de lichtbron. In kaart brengen hoeveel licht er nodig is om op artikel niveau de gewenste lichthoeveelheid te behalen.

Information: In het verleden heeft McAdam een aantal ellipsen gedefinieerd voor bepaalde Correlated Color Temperature’s. Hierbij is de gedachten gang dat men geen kleur verschil ziet indien men binnen deze ellips blijft. Vandaag stellen we vast dat voor LED of andere lichtbronnen deze toepassingen niet meer opgaan voor warmere CCT’s.

Analyse maken en uitleggen hoe McAdam ellipsen zijn opgebouwd in het verleden en hoe ze werken. Analyse van welke systemen kleur definiëren (vb CIE). Analyse welke parameters kleur impressie / verschil bepalen. Hierbij uitgaande van 1 lichtpunt tot meerderelichtpunten. Analyse van de invloed van andere parameters op kleur impressie en het verschil zoals Colour over Angle intensiteit, optics, combinatie van meerdere lichtpunten, … Voorstel uitwerken om kleurverschil te meten bij LED modules. Hierbij moet het huidig kleurmeetsysteem in vraag gesteld worden en/of een voorstel gedaan worden voor optimalisatie. In kaart brengen welk kleurverschillen aanvaardt worden door consument voor verschillende toepassingen.

As a Technics and Development intern you will assist (y)our co-workers in their daily actions, contributing to the development process which is currently being worked. Philips Consumer Luminaires is a part of the global Philips lighting sector which operates as an international organization, focusing on European and global markets. It aims to become leader in energy-efficient lighting. The site in Kontich is the headquarters of the Consumer Luminaires department and focuses on designing and developing lighting fixtures, specialized in consumer lifestyle. Furthermore the site in Kontich provides the main distribution for Western Europe. Supply Chain coordinates the network between PCL and interconnected businesses. It manages the cooperation between businesses in the production process from point of origin to point of consumption.

(S)he will be involved in the planning and management of activities such as sourcing, procurement, conversion and logisitics. (S)he will cooperate and support in manufacturing operations The intern will support the coordination of processes and activities with and across marketing, sales, product design, finance and IT.


You are currently studying economics, business or engineering You have good knowledge of IT-systems such as excel and word You are good with numbers and statistics And you are interested in logistics
