A
TRIP
TO
BRAZIL
Hi
there!
Long
time
no
news.
It
has
been
a
busy
year,
what
with
launching
our
brand
new
budget
adventure
travel
website
South
America
Adventure
Travel
just
last
week.
I’ve
not
really
had
the
time
to
write
much,
let
alone
travel…
But,
last
week
I
finally
got
a
chance
to
escape
and
went
to
Brazil
for
6
days
to
join
my
long
time
friends
from
Germany,
Gerd
and
Christel.
They
had
been
to
Galapagos
the
week
before
(on
the
Nemo
II,
an
excellent
Catamaran
for
those
who
like
to
travel
in
style
without
losing
the
sporty
element
of
being
out
on
the
open
seas).
They
arrived
at
Sao
Paulo
Guarulhos
Airport
about
3.5
hours
before
me
and
took
a
day‐room
in
the
Caesar
Park
Hotel
just
5
minutes
from
the
Airport,
to
relax
a
bit
after
the
night‐long
journey
from
Guayaquil.
As
soon
as
I
arrived,
I
picked
up
the
car
that
we
had
reserved
with
Budget
and
went
to
pick
them
up.
After
a
healthy
breakfast
(Caesar’s
Burger
Special
with
lots
of
black
coffee)
we
got
in
the
car
and
drove
toward
Paraty,
some
4
hours
north
on
the
coastal
road
between
Sao
Paulo
and
Rio
de
Janeiro.
It
has
rained
severely
in
almost
all
of
Brazil
for
the
past
weeks,
so
we
were
happy
to
arrive
in
Paraty
and
hide
ourselves
in
the
beautiful
Pousada
Arte
Urquijo
for
a
day
or
2…
Paraty
is
a
town
with
an
amazing
history:
everything
from
sugar
cane,
coffee
and
tobacco
to
precious
stones
and
gold,
to
the
famous
Cachaça
(which
the
Portuguese
transported
to
Africa
to
serve
as
a
currency
in
the
slave
trade)
have
passed
through
this
town
over
the
past
centuries,
bringing
some
serious
wealth
and
development.
All
this
was
in
the
past
however,
and
for
the
last
century
the
main
commercial
routes
from
Minas
Gerais
(where
most
of
the
country’s
riches
came
from)
to
the
coast
ended
up
running
through
Rio
de
Janeiro
and
Sao
Paulo,
leaving
Paraty
behind
in
a
slowly
declining
colonial
state.
Ironically
it
was
these
last
“100
years
of
solitude”
that
put
Paraty
back
in
the
spotlights
about
30
years
ago,
when
a
Brazilian
TV
broadcasting
company
decided
to
shoot
a
now
famous
“Telenovela”
(soap
opera)
in
the,
by
then,
almost
completely
forgotten
town.
Many
Brazilians
love
and
vigorously
watch
these
soaps,
and
that
was
how
Paraty
returned
to
their
mental
map.
Since
it
had
remained
virtually
unchanged
for
so
long
(as
our
guide
told
us:
Paraty
is
“preserved
by
poverty”),
it
had
an
excellent
colonial
charm
and
soon
enough
the
first
new
explorers
began
to
arrive
from
Rio
and
Sao
Paulo
to
find
the
perfect
weekend
hide‐out.
Shortly
thereafter
the
first
investors
came;
old
colonial
structures
were
purchased
and
converted
into
comfortable
second
homes
for
the
well‐ to‐do
of
these,
the
two
largest
of
Brazilian
cities.
The
word
Paraty
apparently
sounds
like
“Paradise”
in
French
(when
expressed
in
that
beautiful
language)
and
today
most
of
the
foreigners
investing
in
the
region
come
from
this
European
country.
But
the
editor
of
the
famous
Harry
Potter
books
has
also
found
a
second
home
here,
and
brought
with
her
her
insatiable
craving
for
literature,
resulting
in
Paraty
now
hosting
Brazil’s
annual
book
fair
and
the
town
having
some
seriously
well‐stocked
book
stores!
Luckily,
the
place
has
not
lost
its
original
looks;
as
a
matter
of
fact
it
is
becoming
more
and
more
beautiful
as
time
goes
by.
Paraty
wants
to
become
a
part
of
UNESCO
World
Heritage
and
much
is
being
done
to
preserve
and
restore
the
town
to
its
original
state.

regularly
since
regulations
and
prices
are
subject
to
changes.
Before
you
can
fill
out
the
CIEE
digitally
you
need
to
save
it
on
your
own
computer.
Signatures
need
to
be
placed
on
a
hard
copy.
After
completing
the
form
you
can
either
forward
the
application
with
the
necessary
attachments
by
regular
mail
or
(as
a
scan)
per
email.
DS2019
Form
DS‐2019
is
required
in
order
to
legally
undertake
an
internship
in
the
US
and,
in
European
terms,
can
be
seen
as
a
work
permit.
The
form
is
needed
to
obtain
the
J‐1
visa
from
the
American
Consulate.
Through
its
agreement
with
the
US
Council
on
International
Educational
Exchange
(CIEE),
Nuffic
is
able
to
obtain
these
forms
for
a
fee.
Form
DS‐2019
and
the
J‐1
visa
are
valid
only
for
an
internship
with
the
internship
provider
stated
on
the
application
form.
Students
should
assure
themselves
that
they
have
an
internship
for
at
least
30
hours
a
week
before
they
start
their
application
for
Form
DS‐
2019.
As
sponsor
of
the
Internship
USA
program,
the
CIEE
is
officially
responsible
for
the
student
during
their
entire
stay
in
the
United
States.
CIEE
is
available
to
help
students
if
they
have
questions
or
if
they
encounter
problems
during
their
stay
in
the
US.
Internship
USA
is
subject
to
the
rules
of
the
United
States
government,
which
are
subject
to
change.
Target
group
Form
DS‐2019
is
effectively
a
work
permit
and
is
intended
for
students
of
higher
education
institutions
following
a
full
program
of
study
in
the
Netherlands
who
are
undertaking
an
internship
as
part
of
their
studies
and
for
graduates
who
wish
to
undertake
an
internship
within
12
months
of
their
graduation.
Nationals
of
other
countries
should
be
aware
that
the
issue
of
Form
DS‐2019
is
no
guarantee
of
being
issued
a
J‐1
visa.
The
US
Consulate‐General
in
Amsterdam
may
refuse
to
issue
a
J‐1
visa
if
the
applicant
is
unable
to
demonstrate
that
he
or
she
has
strong
ties
with
the
Netherlands.
mbo‐students
are
also
allowed
to
participate
in
the
CIEE
internship
program
provided
they
attach
a
copy
of
their
secondary
education
diploma
(at
least
vmbo)
to
their
application.
Exclusions
•
Students
wishing
to
provide
handson
treatment,
therapy
or
service
for
patients,
clients,
children
or
animals
may
not
use
the
services
of
CIEE.
This
means
direct
contact
with
patients,
clients,
children
or
animals
during
an
internship
is
not
allowed.
This
will
(among
others)
affect
those
studying
medicine,
teaching,
professional
health
care
programs,
youth
welfare
services,
social
work,
psychology
and
veterinary
medicine.
•
Students
may
not
apply
if
they
intend
to
conduct
scientific
research
at
a
university
or
affiliated
institution.
Research
assistants
and
research
scholars
do
not
qualify
as
interns
and
may
not
therefore
use
the
services
of
CIEE.
•
Work
provided
by
a
temporary
work
agency
is
not
acceptable
as
an
internship;
work
9
at
fast‐food
restaurants
such
as
Burger
King,
McDonald’s,
Wendy’s,
etc.,
including
at
their
head
offices,
is
similarly
excluded.
Repeat
Internships
Students
who
have
previously
been
issued
a
Form
DS‐2019
for
an
internship
may
apply
as
long
as
they
meet
the
following
criteria.
•
The
level
of
the
internship
must
match
that
of
the
study
program,
and
the
Training
Plan
must
clearly
show
that
the
work
to
be
performed
is
different
from
the
previous
internship
and
that
there
is
a
clear
development.
•
The
student
must
have
spent
at
least
90
days
in
the
Netherlands
between
the
two
internships.
These
criteria
do
not
apply
to
Form
DS‐2019
(previously
IAP‐66)
issued
for
a
high
school
program
or
a
working
holiday.
Validity
Form
DS‐2019
is
valid
for
paid
or
unpaid
internships
lasting
up
to
12
months.
Although
there
is
no
minimum
duration,
internships
lasting
less
than
three
months
are
rarely
approved.
The
maximum
of
12
months
applies
to
the
entire
period
spent
as
an
intern.
You
may
not
take
up
casual
employment
or
voluntary
work
during
the
internship.
Insurance
Form
DS‐2019
is
issued
together
with
a
compulsory
health
care
insurance
policy
that
meets
the
demands
of
the
US
government.
The
policy
provides
basic
cover
with
a
maximum
benefit
payable
per
incident
of
US$
1,00,000.
For
the
benefits
of
this
insurance:
www.ciee.org/insurance.
The
policy
covers
the
US,
Mexico,
Canada
and
the
US
Virgin
Islands
and
comes
into
effect
from
the
moment
you
have
legally
entered
the
US
on
your
J1
visa.
It
does
not
include
the
travel
to
and
from
the
US.
Since
students
require
insurance
outside
the
internship
period,
the
arrangement
fee
is
based
on
the
dates
of
the
entire
stay.
In
this
way,
students
can
always
call
on
the
CIEE
for
help
should
the
need
arise.
The
insurance
policy
is
sent
out
to
the
student
together
with
Form
DS‐2019.
If
the
intern
returns
to
the
Netherlands
during
the
internship,
he
or
she
must
leave
for
the
US
again
within
30
days.
However,
the
student
will
not
be
insured
through
CIEE
during
this
short
stay
in
the
Netherlands.
It
is
possible
to
take
out
additional
insurance
with
a
Dutch
company:
IPS
(Insurance
Passport
for
Students)
from
Lippmann
(www.lippmann.nl;
070‐3028500)
or
AON

try
the
following:
• Use
a
headset
with
a
built
in
microphone.
Headsets
are
available
for
purchase
at
most
computer
retailers
and
will
dramatically
improve
sound
quality.
• Tell
your
friend
to
get
a
headset.
Note
that
voice
quality
is
affected
by
the
equipment
on
both
sides
of
the
conversation.
The
best
way
to
ensure
high
quality
sound
is
to
have
a
headset
on
both
ends
of
the
conversation.If
you
don't
have
a
headset,
you
are
still
likely
to
improve
sound
quality
if
you:
• Use
headphones
instead
of
your
computer
speakers
• Try
moving
the
microphone
closer
or
further
away
from
your
mouth
• Use
an
external
microphone
(note
that
most
laptops
use
low‐quality
microphones)
• Update
your
soundcard
drivers
• Note
that
if
you
don't
own
a
microphone,
you
may
be
able
to
use
a
pair
of
headphones
as
a
temporary
solution
by
connecting
these
to
the
microphone
jack
of
your
sound
card.
Try
it!

A
LETTER
FROM
ALBERT
EINSTEIN
Albert Einstein Old Grove Rd. Nassau Point Peconic, Long Island August 2nd, 1939
F.D. Roosevelt President of the United States White House Washington, D.C.
Sir: Some recent work by E.Fermi and L. Szilard, which has been communicated to me in manuscript, leads me to expect that the element uranium may be turned into a new and important source of energy in the immediate future. Certain aspects of the situation which has arisen seem to call for watchfulness and, if necessary, quick action on the part of the Administration. I believe therefore that it is my duty to bring to your attention the following facts and recommendations:
In the course of the last four months it has been made probable - through the work of Joliot in France as well as Fermi and Szilard in America - that it may become possible to set up a nuclear chain reaction in a large mass of uranium, by which vast amounts of power and large quantities of new radium-like elements would be generated. Now it appears almost certain that this could be achieved in the immediate future.
This new phenomenon would also lead to the construction of bombs, and it is conceivable though much less certain - that extremely power- ful bombs of a new type may thus be constructed. A single bomb of this type, carried by boat and exploded in a port, might very well destroy the whole port together with some of the surrounding territory. However, such bombs might very well prove to be too heavy for transportation by air. (...) In view of the situation you may think it desirable to have more permanent contact maintained between the Administration and the group of physicists working on chain reactions in America. One possible way of achieving this might be for you to entrust with this task a person who has your confidence and who could perhaps serve in an inofficial capacity. (...) Yours very truly,

LITTLE
RED
RIDINGHOOD
As
soon
as
Wolf
began
to
feel
That
he
would
like
a
decent
meal,
He
went
and
knocked
on
Grandma's
door.
When
Grandma
opened
it,
she
saw
The
sharp
white
teeth,
the
horrid
grin,
And
Wolfie
said,
``May
I
come
in?''
Poor
Grandmamma
was
terrified,
``He's
going
to
eat
me
up!''
she
cried.
And
she
was
absolutely
right.
He
ate
her
up
in
one
big
bite.
But
Grandmamma
was
small
and
tough,
And
Wolfie
wailed,
``That's
not
enough!
I
haven't
yet
begun
to
feel
That
I
have
had
a
decent
meal!''
He
ran
around
the
kitchen
yelping,
``I've
got
to
have
a
second
helping!''
Then
added
with
a
frightful
leer,
``I'm
therefore
going
to
wait
right
here
Till
Little
Miss
Red
Riding
Hood
Comes
home
from
walking
in
the
wood.''
He
quickly
put
on
Grandma's
clothes,
(Of
course
he
hadn't
eaten
those).
He
dressed
himself
in
coat
and
hat.
He
put
on
shoes,
and
after
that
He
even
brushed
and
curled
his
hair,
Then
sat
himself
in
Grandma's
chair.
In
came
the
little
girl
in
red.
She
stopped.
She
stared.
And
then
she
said,
``What
great
big
ears
you
have,
Grandma.''
``All
the
better
to
hear
you
with,''
the
Wolf
replied.
``What
great
big
eyes
you
have,
Grandma.''
said
Little
Red
Riding
Hood.
``All
the
better
to
see
you
with,''
the
Wolf
replied.
He
sat
there
watching
her
and
smiled.
He
thought,
I'm
going
to
eat
this
child.
Compared
with
her
old
Grandmamma
She's
going
to
taste
like
caviar.
Then
Little
Red
Riding
Hood
said,
``But
Grandma,
what
a
lovely
great
big
furry
coat
you
have
on.''
``That's
wrong!''
cried
Wolf.
``Have
you
forgot
To
tell
me
what
BIG
TEETH
I've
got?
Ah
well,
no
matter
what
you
say,
I'm
going
to
eat
you
anyway.''
The
small
girl
smiles.
One
eyelid
flickers.
She
whips
a
pistol
from
her
knickers.
She
aims
it
at
the
creature's
head
And
bang
bang
bang,
she
shoots
him
dead.
A
few
weeks
later,
in
the
wood,
I
came
across
Miss
Riding
Hood.
But
what
a
change!
No
cloak
of
red,
No
silly
hood
upon
her
head.
She
said,
``Hello,
and
do
please
note
My
lovely
furry
wolfskin
coat.''

FABLES
OF
A
FOX
THE
FOX
OUTWITTED
ONE
day
the
fox
succeeded
in
catching
a
fine
fat
goose
asleep
by
the
side
of
a
loch;
he
held
her
by
the
wing,
and
making
a
joke
of
her
cackling,
hissing,
and
fears,
he
said—
"Now,
if
you
had
me
in
your
mouth
as
I
have
you,
tell
me
what
you
would
do?"
"Why,"
said
the
goose,
"that
is
an
easy
question.
I
would
fold
my
hands,
shut
my
eyes,
say
a
grace,
and
then
eat
you."
"Just
what
I
mean
to
do,"
said
the
fox;
and
folding
his
hands,
and
looking
very
demure,
he
said
a
pious
grace
with
his
eyes
shut.
But
while
he
did
this
the
goose
had
spread
her
wings,
and
she
was
now
half
way
over
the
loch;
so
the
fox
was
left
to
lick
his
lips
for
supper.
"I
will
make
a
rule
of
this,"
he
said
in
disgust,
"never
in
all
my
life
to
say
a
grace
again
till
after
I
feel
the
meat
warm
in
my
belly.
HOW
THE
WOLF
LOST
HIS
TAIL
ONE
day
the
wolf
and
the
fox
were
out
together,
and
they
stole
a
dish
of
food.
Now
the
wolf
was
the
biggest
beast
of
the
two,
and
he
had
a
long
tail
like
a
greyhound,
and
great
teeth.
The
fox
was
afraid
of
him,
and
did
not
dare
to
say
a
word
when
the
wolf
ate
the
most
of
the
food,
and
left
only
a
little
at
the
bottom
of
the
dish
for
him,
but
he
determined
to
punish
him
for
it;
so
the
next
night
when
they
were
out
together
the
fox
said:
"I
smell
a
very
nice
cheese,
and"
(pointing
to
the
moonshine
on
the
ice)
"there
it
is
too."
"And
how
will
you
get
it?"
said
the
wolf.
"Well,
stop
you
here
till
I
see
if
the
farmer
is
asleep,
and
if
you
keep
your
tail
on
it,
nobody
will
see
you
or
know
that
it
is
there.
Keep
it
steady.
I
may
be
some
time
coming
back."
So
the
wolf
lay
down
and
laid
his
tail
on
the
moonshine
in
the
ice,
and
kept
it
for
an
hour
till
it
was
fast.
Then
the
fox,
who
had
been
watching
him,
ran
in
to
the
farmer
and
said:
"The
wolf
is
there;
he
will
eat
up
the
children,
—the
wolf!
the
wolf!"
Then
the
farmer
and
his
wife
came
out
with
sticks
to
kill
the
wolf,
but
the
wolf
ran
off
leaving
his
tail
behind
him,
and
that’s
why
the
wolf
is
stumpy‐tailed
to
this
day,
though
the
fox
has
a
long
brush.

LETTER
FROM
LOUIS
How's everything Pal? I was awful sorry to hear of your being sick, I hope you are well by now. Alpha and I are well as usual. She + Mr. + Mrs. Collins sends best regards to you and the family. We're playing here this week at the Empire Theatre. I shared the star honors last night with the beautiful movie star Miss Esther Ralston. She has a lovely act. She also stayed at the same hotel with us in Liverpool. The name of the hotel was the Adelphi Hotel. My English boys are still swingin' like nobody's bizzness. Yeah, man. They're all lovely chaps. We have about four more weeks tour through the provinces of England and then we'll disband the orchestra in England. Then we'll go over to Paris which we'll only stay about two weeks. Then back home to Death Ole America. Mr. Collins was telling me last night in my room that when we leave Paris to return home we'll go the roundabout way which will take a little longer to get home but will give us a chance to see a great big part of the world. You see we'll go by way of Japan, Honolulu and oh lots of places I've longed to see. Now won't that be wonderful if he goes through with it? (...) The Paramount people are trying their best to get Papa Collins to take charge of all the bookings of all the Paramount Theatres. Now you can guess what that'll mean to me if he decides. Oh, Gate, we have millions of opportunities. I just like to let you know what's going on because I know you appreciate it. (...) Mezz, I so wish you were taking this trip with me, but it's impossible.... first place it all happened too sudden to amount to anything;. So I figured since I am taking this trip, I'll observe all the spots that are of interest and maybe some day after I get my bank roll together we can take a trip like this on our own. Understand? We're expecting to make another tour down south when we return. Louis Armstrong

Franz

Franz

official
for

major
part
of
his

Franz

since
1898.
His
extraordinary
fictional
literary
works
were
written
largely
in
his

and
many
of
his
novels
were
not

until
after
his
death
from

in
1924.
He

Felice
Bauer
(1887

1960)
on
August
13,
1912
and
proposed
to
her
in
1913.
In
July
1914
he
called
off
their
engagement
but
kept
writing
to
her.
Three
years
later,
in
July
1917,
he
proposed

Felice
again.
As
it
happened,
Franz
was
diagnosed
with
tuberculosis
one
month
later,
which
spelled
the
end
of
their
relationship.
Felice
went
on
to
marry
another

in
1919,
but
kept
Franz’s
letters.
Despite
his
failing
health,
Kafka
continued
to
have
numerous
affairs
over
the
next
seven
years.
By
1924,
however,
his
health
had
severely
plummeted
and
he
died
on
June
3,
1924.
Fräulein Felice! I am now going to ask you a favor which sounds quite crazy, and which I should regard as such, were I the one to receive the letter. It is also the very greatest test that even the kindest person could be put to. Well, this is it: Write to me only once a week, so that your letter arrives on Sunday—for I cannot endure your daily letters, I am incapable of enduring them. For instance, I answer one of your letters, then lie in bed in apparent calm, but my heart beats through my entire body and is conscious only of you. I belong to you; there is really no other way of expressing it, and that is not strong enough. But for this very reason I don’t want to know what you are wearing; it confuses me so much that I cannot deal with life; and that’s why I don’t want to know that you are fond of me. If I did, how could I, fool that I am, go on sitting in my office, or here at home, instead of leaping onto a train with my eyes shut and opening them only when I am with you?...

The Pellet Fuels Institute has made a mission of informing consumers of the convenience and practicality of using wood pellet fuel, and now that over 600,000 homeowners have learned the efficiency and practicality of using pellet stoves, it now turns its attention to the millions of large-scale commercial applications for which pellet fuel is suited. Such systems have already been working efficiently and effectively for twenty years. Whether you are a school administrator, business owner, factor y manager or energy consultant, you have a unique opportunity to free yourself from the price fluctuations of oil and gas and embrace a convenient, environmentally sound and forward-thinking way to heat.
Pellet fuel can change the way we do business forever

PELLETS IN ACTION THEATER The 600 seat Elma Theater in Elma, Washington opened in November of 1928, and has had a proud history of showcasing regional performers ever since.. After many years of heating the theater with oil, a unique, pellet-based system was recently installed that has cut costs dramatically. Rather than a single large burner, the facility uses several smaller burners, and even a single pellet stove in the lobby.
! PRISON The Washington State Penitentiary at Walla Walla, the largest prison in the state, has used pellets as their primary heat source since Dec, 2000. Currently, they burn an average of 40 tons of pellets a day (13,000 tons a year), and has seen a reduction in fuel expenses of 30% since switching from natural gas.
MANUFACTURING FACILITY A pellet fuel manufacturing facility not only recently opened a new operation in Claremont, NH in 2002, but installed a state of the art pellet heating systemon site. This small business (10 employees) will enjoy the reliability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness for many years to come.
! HYDROPONIC FARM This Hydroponic tomato farm in Sutton, Quebec has burned pellets as its primary heat source since 2000. The system was installed with the assistance of a government renewable energy initiative, and is so efficient that even the excess CO2, needed by all growing plants, is channelled from the burner backinto the greenhouse to help nourish the tomatoes!

MURALS
Murals
in
Northern
Ireland
have
become
symbols
of
Northern
Ireland,
depicting
the
region's
past
and
present
divisions.
Northern
Ireland
contains
arguably
the
most
famous
political
murals.
Almost
2,000
murals
have
been
documented
in
Northern
Ireland
since
the
1970s.
The
murals
more
often
than
not
represent
one
side's
political
point
of
view.
Almost
all
Northern
Ireland
murals
promote
either
republican
or
loyalist
political
beliefs,
often
glorifying
paramilitary
groups
such
as
the
Provisional
Irish
Republican
Army,
Ulster
Freedom
Fighters,
and
the
Ulster
Volunteer
Force,
while
others
commemorate
people
who
have
lost
their
lives
in
paramilitary
or
military
attacks.
The
most
famous
of
the
murals
in
Northern
Ireland
may
well
be
Free
Derry
Corner,
where
the
slogan
"You
Are
Now
Entering
Free
Derry"
was
painted
in
1969,
shortly
after
the
Battle
of
the
Bogside.
However,
some
do
not
consider
Free
Derry
Corner
to
be
a
true
mural,
as
it
consists
only
of
words
and
not
images.
Free
Derry
Corner
has
been
used
as
a
model
for
other
murals
in
Northern
Ireland,
including
the
"You
Are
Now
Entering
Loyalist
Sandy
Row"
mural
in
Belfast,
which
was
a
response
to
the
republican
message
of
Free
Derry
Corner,
and
the
"You
Are
Now
Entering
Derry
Journal
Country"
mural,
which
is
an
advertisement
for
a
Derry
publication.
Not
all
murals
in
Northern
Ireland
are
political
or
religious
in
nature,
with
some
commemorating
events
such
as
the
Great
Irish
Famine
(1845–1849),
and
other
moments
in
Irish
history.
Many
portray
events
from
Irish
mythology,
though
images
from
Irish
myths
are
often
incorporated
into
political
murals.
A
few
murals
avoid
the
subject
of
Ireland
altogether,
instead
focusing
on
such
neutral
subjects
as
litter
prevention
and
the
C.
S.
Lewis
novel
The
Lion,
the
Witch
and
the
Wardrobe.
Murals
representing
peace
and
tolerance
are
becoming
increasingly
popular
with
school
groups
who
have
children
either
design
or
actually
paint
murals
in
areas
around
their
schools.
Additionally
with
many
paramilitaries
now
involved
in
community
work
there
has
been
a
move
to
decommission
many
of
the
hard‐edged
murals
across
Northern
Ireland.
This
change
was
further
highlighted
in
2007,
when
the
Bogside
Artists
artists
were
invited
to
Washington,
D.C.
for
the
Smithsonian
Folk
Life
Festival.
The
three
artists
were
invited
to
recreate
murals
in
the
Washington
Mall.
