Ya, betul. Waktu saya kecil saya tinggal di daerah di sekitar Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok di Jakarta Barat. Selain itu, bapak saya bekerja di pelabuhan itu juga.

PEWAWANCARA: Ceritakan sedikit tentang kehidupan Anda waktu kecil. MOHAMMAD:

Saya anak pertama dari delapan bersaudara. Bapak saya seorang buruh pelabuhan sedangkan ibu saya seorang ibu rumah tangga, sehingga kehidupan dari kecil sampai dewasa selalu sulit. Tidak seperti orang lain yang kehidupannya cukup enak, kalau saya atau adik saya meminta sesuatu, hal itu harus dipikirkan dulu oleh orang tua saya.

PEWAWANCARA: Jadi menurut Anda, apakah kehidupan Anda waktu kecil senang atau tidak? MOHAMMAD:

Saya beruntung sekali kalau dibandingkan dengan adik adik saya. Sebagai anak pertama, hanya saya yang berpendidikan SMP dan SMA. Semua adik saya berpendidikan sekolah dasar saja.

PEWAWANCARA: Orang tua Anda meninggal dunia lebih dari sepuluh tahun yang lalu. Bagaimana perasaan Anda kalau Anda memikirkan tentang mereka dan masa kecil Anda? MOHAMMAD:

Walaupun kehidupan kami sulit, kami selalu senang. Saya dan adik-adik saya selalu tahu bahwa orang tua kami sangat cinta kami semua dan bekerja sekeras mungkin supaya bisa memenuhi keperluan sehari-hari keluarga kami. Pekerjaan bapak cukup berat dan gajinya sedikit saja, tetapi dari situlah keluarga kami dapat hidup. Cita-cita orang tua saya sederhana saja. Mereka hanya ingin menyenangkan keluarganya. Menurut saya mereka orang tua ideal.
