Several years ago I was challenged to think about what I had accomplished in my life and what I would do over the remainder of the years I may be allowed to live. My upbringing, education and career were centered very much on accomplishing (i.e. being all that I could be.) I was born in America to the upper middle-class family. My parents instilled in me honesty, integrity, hard work, value of money and the education it could buy. The education I received was the best money could buy: a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from Northwestern?s Kellogg School of Business.

I married my high school sweetheart and headed off for New York upon graduation with the MBA after joining one of the world?s largest and most successful companies. My early career was very much focused on advancing up the professional ladder and I eventually became an executive manager with over 17 years of experience living, working and raising a family outside the USA. Successful Yet Not Fulfilled However, inside I started to question how shallow pure success-oriented living was. Much of society's emphasis on values of money, possessions, power, prestige, pleasure etc. seemed to be so empty and non-fulfilling. For example, how much money was enough and did it really buy happiness? The news was filled with
Page 4
many unhappy, unfulfilled multi-millionaires. I also saw examples of power corrupting and pleasures so short-lived that often lead to devastating consequences for families. Solution With Lasting Value At that time, I made a decision to surrender my life to Christ and follow Him. My whole life came into balance - job, family and faith. I truly experienced the truth of Matthew 6:33: "Seek first
His kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you." I realized then it was all about doing things in God?s strength, via the power of the Holy Spirit and not by my own efforts. Later in my career I finally appreciated the true concept of significance in life - something that had lasting value and would impact society for generations to come. I noticed that most people who truly had a positive impact on people were others-centered and not self-centered as my generation had been taught in looking out for No 1. People like Mother Teresa, President Lincoln, Gandhi, Jonas Salk, Martin Luther King, Bill Wilson (founder of AA Alcoholics Anonymous) etc. acted out of altruistic desires to better their generations and those to come. They made sacrifices and gave up relatively "cushy" lives in order to serve others and establish a legacy. Long-Lasting Legacy I then was challenged to consider how my LIFE (labor, influence, finance/ resources and expertise) could be used to have an impact on others. I was stretched to think outside the realm of my own family and career. Certainly the influence I had on my sons and their families was important and something we had been working on in order to leave a long-lasting legacy. This even led us to consider retiring early as we realized how blessed financially we were, that I could retire, have enough to live on and give to my family, as well as others. We thought about the years remaining that God might give us and what were we to do with them? That led us to ponder the verse: "Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom" (Psalm 90:12). We have now devoted a portion of our time working with Latin American leaders to help encourage them in the transformation of their communities as they teach personal and Page 5
corporate leadership, time-tested values and standards and principles. In conclusion, I realized that there is nothing inherently wrong in seeking success. At the same time ensuring that the measures of success were something that would lead to significance, not necessarily in some earth-shattering invention or contribution but something that would be otherscentered and serving a benefit for others in my family and society through God's power. When we get to heaven, we want to receive Christ's blessing of: "Well done, good and faithful servant!" (Matthew 25:21). Are you at the place in your life where you want your life to count for significance? Would you like to help other people reach their potential? Why not let Jesus show you how to do this? If you don?t know Jesus, we encourage you to pray the following prayer:
Lord Jesus, I want to know You personally. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me be the person You want me to be. Amen. Is it the desire of your heart to make this prayer yours? If yes, pray now and according to his promise, Jesus Christ will come into your life.
by Kevin Miller If you asked most entrepreneurs for five reasons why they got into business, making money would probably be close to number one. If so, that makes John Roise, owner of Lindsay Windows, something of an anomaly. When the former banker decided to enter the window business several years ago, he had four main goals in mind and none of them included the word “money.” “The first thing I wanted to do was share my faith,” says John. “Second, I wanted to be able to hire people who needed a second, third or fourth chance; people like ex-prisoners and drug addicts. Third, I wanted to speak out on social issues. And finally, I wanted to be able to take short-term mission trips.” In fact, John’s original goal was to build a business to the point where he had to spend only one day per week at work and the rest of his time in Christian ministry. However, as every entrepreneur knows, rarely do the demands of even a small business afford such luxuries, especially when you’re just starting out. It wasn’t that John felt money was unimportant. He realized the only way to reach his other goals was to make his company profitable. Echoing in his head were the words of famed evangelist Dwight L. Moody:
Page 6
“Make as much as you can, save as much as you can, so you can give as much as you can.” John set out to do just that. Here's The Story Why was John so concerned about giving rather than gaining? Back in college, John made a decision that changed his life: He had become a Christian. Having grown up in a Christian home, John thought he had all the bases covered when it came to God. He went to church, he was baptized, he was nice to his parents and he lived a decent life. But when he met his future wife Susan, she showed him that just going through the motions of faith was not enough. If he really wanted to call himself a Christian, he had to become “born again.” “And I said, ‘What do you mean, born again? How I can be born again?’” says John. “And she pointed out some Scripture to me and I said ‘Wow, I’d never seen that before.’ No one had ever challenged me like that.” Although his pride prevented him from letting Susan convert him on the spot, the seed was planted. A short time later while John was in his room watching television, he finally accepted the fact that:
he wasn’t as good a person as he thought he was and the only solution was to ask Jesus for forgiveness.
John did exactly that, and his new, personal relationship with Jesus began.
the deal and keep looking for another business opportunity.
“No bells went off, and no whistles rang. But I knew there was a difference,” John says.
Rather than seek a loan from his own bank and risk the embarrassment of being turned down, John decided to approach another bank three hours away. He fully expected his application to be rejected, but,
For one thing, John realized it wasn’t enough to live life just for himself. To be a true follower of Christ, he had to devote his life to serving others. A Sign From God John’s faith grew over the next several years as he graduated from college and found work in the banking industry. An entrepreneur at heart, John also ran a few other businesses on the side, including real estate development and an oyster shell chicken feed company. While John always seemed to do well, he still hadn’t found the company that would allow him to fulfill his dreams. Oddly enough, John’s golden opportunity came in the form of a business he knew nothing about: window manufacturing. He wasn’t even interested in purchasing the company at first. Not only did he lack experience, buying the company would require him to borrow several million dollars and leave his comfortable, six-figure job in the banking industry. John decided to put the decision before God. Seeing as it was unlikely that any bank would loan him so much money, John decided to let that be the determining factor. If he managed to secure the financing, he would take it as a sign that God wanted him to take this leap of faith. If not, then he would forfeit Page 7
“Within 24 hours, I had a commitment to do the whole deal,” says John. Still not convinced that this was the way to go, John decided to try his luck at yet another bank. Once again, his loan application was approved almost instantly. John finally accepted the fact that God might be telling him to go for it. Fulfilling his Goals Building the company was far from easy. Desperation was a common feeling during that first year, John says. But as he learned the business, he was able to turn Lindsay Windows into a highly successful manufacturer of custom windows. More importantly, John’s financial success meant he could finally fulfill the four goals he had stated at the outset. Today, Lindsay Windows regularly employs ex-prisoners, the mentally challenged, and individuals with chemical dependency problems. “I’ve seen some people that have just walked away from drugs, gotten off alcohol and become good, productive individuals. Some people fall back and
that’s to be expected.... But I have seen quite a few success stories.” As for John’s own success, his definition is rather simple: "I measure success according to what I’ve done compared to what I’m capable of doing. You could have millions of dollars, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is what you’ve done on this earth with the opportunities you’ve been given." So, does John consider himself a success on those terms? “I don’t know. I guess I’ll have to wait and see if I hear those famous words from the Lord when I get to heaven, ‘Well done my good and faithful servant.’” How do you measure success? Why not ask Jesus what success looks like for you? If you do not know Jesus, we encourage you to pray the following: Lord Jesus, I want to know You personally. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me be the person You want me to be. Is it the desire of your heart to make this prayer yours? If yes, pray now and according to his promise, Jesus Christ will come into your life. Page 8

(Maleakhi 3: 17-18)
KEYAKINAN IMAN ICCC: Satu-satunya TUHAN pencipta segala sesuatu dalam kesatuan Trinitas: Bapa, Anak, dan Roh Kudus.
Keilahian TUHAN Yesus Kristus. Kelahiran-Nya dari rahim seorang Perawan. Karya penebusan dosa manusia melalui kematian-Nya diatas kayu salib. Kebangkitan-Nya.

The Real Meaning Of Christmas It's that time of year again. December has come and with it all the joys of Christmas. But what is the real meaning of Christmas? Is it the gifts under the tree, the lights in the windows, the cards in the mail, turkey dinners with family and friends, snow in the yard, stockings hanging in the living room, and shouts of "Merry Christmas" to those who pass us in the streets? Is this really Christmas? For many people, Christmas is a time of sorrow. They don't have the extra money to buy presents for their children, family, and friends. Many are saddened at Christmastime when they think of their loved ones who will not be able to come home for various reasons. Turkey dinners may be only a wish and not a reality for some. Yet, Christmas can be a season of great joy. It is a time of God showing His great love for us. It can be a time of healing and renewed strength. You see, Christmas is Page 10
when we celebrate the birth of the Christ child. God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to be born. His birth brought great joy to the world. Shepherds, wise men, and angels all shared in the excitement of knowing about this great event. They knew this was no ordinary baby. The prophets had told of His coming hundreds of years before. The star stopped over Bethlehem just to mark the way for those who were looking for this special child. Luke 2: 4-19 says: "So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of
great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about." So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart." Why did He come? Why did God send His son to this sometimes cruel and hard world? He sent Jesus to us so that one day, He would grow up to become a very important part of history. His story (history) is one of truth, love, and hope. It brought salvation to all of us. Without Jesus, we would all die in our sins. Jesus was born so one day the price could be paid for the things we have done that are wrong. The Bible says that all Page 11
have sinned. We are all born with a sin nature. We do things that do not please God. Through the sins of Adam and Eve, we have all inherited that sin nature. We need to have that removed. The only way is through Jesus. Jesus came so He could die on the cross for ALL of our sins. If we believe that Jesus died for our sins, we can ask Him to come into our hearts and forgive us. Then, we are clean and made whole. We can know that heaven is a place where we can go to when this life is over. "But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong." I John 1:9 We can truly be happy at Christmas! No matter what may be happening, we can know that we are His children. We then become sons and daughters of God. Heaven will be our home one day. Look at Christmas in a new way this year. This is the year to invite Jesus into your heart. You will then have a "Merry Christmas." The joy and peace you will receive will last all year as you look to God for all your needs to be met. Jesus Is The Reason For The Season! Rejoice! Terimakasih atas waktu dan minat Anda membaca Berita ICCC Indonesia
