CONDITIONALS - GENERAL RULES Conditional sentence consists of TWO clauses. IF clause + main clause a condition

Egg. If it is sunny this afternoon, I will go to the park. If Peter comes home early, we will cook dinner. If I had more money, I would buy a new car.
Either clause can go first. The difference is only in „comma“. Watch the examples: If it rains tomorrow , we´ll stay at home. or We will stay at home if it rains tomorrow. (when the main clause is first, there is usully NO comma)
The most common conjunction is

Sometimes, others are possible. ( egg. When, as long as, even if, provided that, suppose that, unless)
ZERO and FIRST CONDITIONALS
ZERO CONDITIONAL We talk about : - something which is always true - result which always follows from a particular action (facts, laws of nature, unchangable rules, personal routines) RULE:

Other examples of zero contidional: • If/ When you drop an egg, it breaks. • If you press the green button, the door opens. • When it is evening in Prague, it is morning in Sydney. • If I have enough money, I go shopping. • If/when I have a sore throat, I drink ginger tea and suck special tablets. • If you don´t water those plants, they die.
FIRST CONDITIONAL We talk about: an action, event or situation which is possible or probable to happen in the future. RULE: IF + present simple , will/ won´t *+ infinitive *To express future, (in the main clause) we can sometimes use going to, present continuous. modals or imperative) But WILL/WON´T is the most common.
Examples of the FIRST CONDITIONAL If there are a lot of people in the restaurant, we will go somewhere else. I won´t do the project this afternoon if I feel tired after school. If we win in the lottery, we will buy a new car. My mum won´t give me any pocket money if I get a bad mark/grade from the test. If Anna passes her exams, she will go to the USA.

If you don´t study hard, you won´t pass the exams. If it rains tomorrow, we won´t go on a trip . If I´m cold, I put on a warm sweater. If my father comes early, we´ll go to a restaurant for dinner. I won´t buy you any ice-cream if you don´t do your homework now. If you have a toothache, go to/ see the dentist! If they don´t come in time, they will miss the plane. If I have more time tomorrow, I´ll visit my aunt. If I´m hungry, I usually make a sandwich. Will you go to the cinema with me if I help you now?
