Opening dances The Palotas or Palace Dance has its origins in the 15th century, when performed for the King by young nobles. It comprises a dignified flowing dance, the Andalgo, then a quick section based on the Verbunkos. In the 19th century it became the traditional opening dance at formal balls. The Annabal waltz is the last composition of Jeno Huszka, inspired by the magic of the Anna Summer Balls in Balatonfured. It was first performed in 1962 after the traditional Parade Palotas. The waltz was choreographed by Timm Rentrop.
The notes of the Annabal waltz were provided by the Zakonyi estate by Dr Anna Acs, director of the Balatonfured City Museum.
