Evaluatie First Years Festival 2011-2012 Management samenvatting De resultaten van het FYF 2011-2012 zijn vrijwel gelijk aan de bevindingen van voorafgaande jaren. Vrijwel op alle bevraagde punten blijken de eerstejaars een stabiel positieve reactie te geven, waaruit kan worden afgeleid dat de opzet van het FYF als zodanig een zeer geschikte is. Wat dit jaar opvalt uit zowel de ervaringen van de organisatoren als uit de beantwoording bij open vragen is dat de huidige groep eerstejaars enigszins kritischer lijkt dan de groepen uit voorgaande jaren. Algemeen Voor de eerste jaarstudenten aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium is het studiejaar 2011-2012 gestart met het First Years Festival (FYF). Ook voor studenten aan Master opleidingen en oudere jaarstudenten bestond de mogelijkheid zich, op vrijwillige basis in te schrijven. Dit jaar wordt het festival voor de derde keer geëvalueerd. Aan de deelnemers zijn onder andere vragen gesteld over de organisatie en programmering, de informatieverstrekking aan de deelnemers, de algemene organisatie en inhoud van de workshops. De vragenlijsten zijn de laatste dag van de FYF week uitgedeeld, waarbij de studenten vriendelijk verzocht werden deze weer ingevuld in te leveren. Respons Dit jaar hebben er 137 personen deelgenomen aan het Festival. Het aantal ingevulde vragenlijsten is 92. Er van uitgaande dat allen een vragenlijst hebben ontvangen, komt de respons op 67,2%. Dit is voldoende representatief om concrete uitspraken te kunnen doen over de tevredenheid van de gehele doelgroep ten aanzien van de inhoud en organisatie van het First Years Festival1.·. Vergelijking voorafgaande jaren De resultaten van de evaluatie 2009-2010 en 2010-2011 worden daar waar mogelijk vergeleken met de resultaten dit jaar. In de bijlage 1 worden de vergelijkingen inzichtelijk. Ook voor de workshops geldt dat daar waar mogelijk een vergelijking is gemaakt met de voorafgaande jaren. Deze gemiddelde waarderingen zijn naast elkaar gezet in een grafiek, zie bijlage 2. Er zijn geen grote verschillen waarneembaar. Aanvullende opmerkingen De aanvullende opmerkingen/ suggesties die zijn gegeven door studenten zijn in bijlage 3 te vinden. Ook hier zijn geen opvallende terugkerende punten.

Bijlage 3 Additional comments Very long days The front desk --> how to get a room It would be nice if you divide the papers where one confirms ones presence to more than one table. De presentaties waren soms een beetje saai, had liever meer muziek gehoord. Too many meetings in between, workshops not always really interesting. (instruction, inspiration and presentation open stage) The presentation could have been shorter. Workshops were all good/ great. Really enjoyed most of them. It was difficult to attend on all the FYF events and deal with finding apartment/job. The programme was busy and the fact that the presence is compulsatory made things more difficult. Can't log in to the computers in lab. Can't reach IT guys. There should have been more explanation about the 11 sessions and the "open stage" was a bit of a wrong chosen name for the presentation for the rest everything was great! obbligatory presences Wonderful week! Thanks! Some (only very few) leaders of workshops could improve on structure and content. When the questions about the workshops would be more than just one mark point (so subdivision into content, presentation, timing and interaction). That would give more interesting info. But maybe too high goal for now. In general: very, very good and stimulating. Way to the location of workshops? We don't know the conservatoire. So it's good to have a plan or something like that (to the studio's) Sommige vooropleidingstudenten hebben geen informatie ontvangen over het FYF en moesten later dus nog inschrijven voor workshops. pianist by workshop Presence on stage The teaching Mbira was a little too past. A map would have been HUGELY useful. A quick tour of the town or even a brochure with things to check (music stores, jazz clubs etc) would have been interesting, but admittedly hard to organize. I would like to see more music than speech There should be more workshops afternoon. I spent two afternoons free because there weren't that many workshops for voice students I enjoy most of the workshops but I don't really need to know what is a singing department or combo or classical department, when I already have a bachelor en master. and presentation of departments could have been condensed. I am almost 21. Singing pop songs in a choir is not why I came here. This week was much too long and rather painful. It should be shortened to one day at most. This should not be required for older students. I think I would have likes it more if there was more of performances in every inspiration, instruction “Like in the Early Musics corners, it started and ended with talking only. I'm so happy after FYF because was very good!!! I have only one thing for me was all program very long – a lot of information in 1 week. Maybe week and half will be better. I think it's very important to know if our expectations about the workshops were achieved. For instance I was in workshop no 23, which from the presentation text I tough it would be a completing different thing, more turn to rhythmical wortz than to directing. Although the workshop was amazing and really well given it didn’t correspond my expectations. Besides thus minor detail I think this Festival it’s just amazing, starting from the idea, the organization etc…. I’m really thankful and happy to be here! Thank you very much!! The general presentations and speeches in the afternoon ware painstaking, boring and mostly irrelevant.
