Message from the Jakarta Capital City Government The Enjoy Jakarta World Junior Golf Championship 2011 which was part of festivities in celebration of Jakarta’s 484th anniversary, was well organized and went successfully. As a tournament with a longstanding reputation, I certainly hope that this event will enhance our friendship between nations and furthermore facilitate our junior golfers to improve their overall experience and mental readiness. The Jakarta Capital City Government is proud to have been associated with the Enjoy Jakarta World Junior Golf Championship 2011 that serves a platform for junior golfer to compete on an international level not only in Indonesia but amongst nations from across the world. This well-regarded international golf event has shown that Jakarta possesses beautiful golf courses of an international standard, modern driving ranges and a growing pool of playing talent. It therefore puts Jakarta on par with some of the best golfing destinations in the world. Message from Chairman of Club Committee

Message from Chairman of Indonesia Golf Association I would like to congratulate the organizing committee and officials for the successful herald of this world class junior tournament. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Jakarta Provincial Government, Damai Indah Golf , sponsors and the press for the generous support and the commitment to the development of junior golf over the last sixteenth years. We together hope that this event can be one of ladder steps of journey for juniors to become international professional players.

Please let me convey my utmost appreciation to the committee and officials for the success of the Enjoy Jakarta World Junior Golf Championship 2011. The tournament has attracted many talented junior golfers from all over the world. Enjoy Jakarta World Junior Golf Championship started off national level in 1993 and now it has become a tournament with an international scale. Since 2008 Enjoy Jakarta World Junior Golf Championship player’s score result has been acknowledged by R & A (Golf World Rules & Development Body) for determining the World Golf Amateur Ranking. Then an idea to combine golf with tourism especially in promoting Jakarta, the Capital City of Indonesia was responded well and positive by the Local government. Since then this tournament has been fully supported by improving the quality of people through sport.

Indonesia Golf Association (PGI) will continuously support this event as of our annual golfing agenda. This tournament offers a rare opportunity to our junior to experience playing with first class international players. I am proud with the achievement of Indonesia Junior Golfer, Jovi Panggabean who won the best gross overall. With the opportunity of more international tournaments, I am certainly confident that our juniors will timely progress their profession to the level of the world class players.

Every year I see junior golfers from a new country joining the event. This year, 18 countries from all over the world such as Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, China, Singapore, Malaysia,Philippines, South Africa, United Kingdom, Myanmar, South Korea,New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, Laos, India, Unitaed Arab Emirates,Hongkong. take part in this tournament. This reflects the popularity of the tournament.

Message from Chairman of the Organizing Committee Once again, the Organizing Committee is proud to hold a world-class event. As the fifth time in world class tournament, the Enjoy Jakarta World Junior Golf Championship 2011 has been offered opportunities for best junior golfers from whole over the world to partake in an international-level event.

Damai Indah Golf Junior golf tournament was first inaugurated in 1993, little did we know that one day it would become one of Asia’s leading junior golf tournament. With the augmentation of participants of this tournament from year to year it proved that our visions of organizing this tournament has achieved successfully and I certainly hope that it will give more facilities that can accommodate the junior golfers to reach their maximum performance as a winners in international event.

This championship is part of the celebration of the 484th anniversary of Jakarta Provincial Government. It has grown from a small and local junior golf tournament into one of Asia’s most prestigious junior golf events and now becoming world’s junior golf tournament events. 153 juniors from 18 countries competed like pro for the highest tribute. This year event meant very special for local golfers since Indonesia junior golfer, Jovic Panggabean won the best gross overall. As one objective of hosting this tournament is raising more Indonesia junior golfers and offers a rare opportunity for them to compete against international best junior golfers.

The involvement and collaboration of the Jakarta Provincial Government and also special attention from Mr. Fauzi Bowo, Governor of DKI Jakarta has added a great significance to this prestigious international junior tournament and it has strengthened our Commitment to development of Junior Golf in Indonesia. The PIK Course will test the best of players, but will also please the players of all skill. Located along Java Sea coastline, PIK Course incorporates relaxing pools and gently winding streams as strategically positioned water hazards and bunkers and rustic fieldstone walls made of indigenous stone. The “Spirits of the Sea” Course has been designed to offer enriching new perspectives within this unique 72 - par, 6.048 meters golf course, by skillfully integrating the natural beauty of the coastal wetlands to create play - able golf rich with strategic variety. Lush landscaping, tees that offer unique challenges from every approach and the distinctive themed “spirit of the sea”. Combined to promote a level of golf play that can only be best described as remarkable.

This international event is organized by the Jakarta Provincial Goverment together with Damai Indah Golf and Indonesia Golf Association. With a mission to generate more talented young golfers to participate in international tournaments and to promote tourism in Jakarta. Damai Indah Golf has successfully held this event at PIK Course from 7th - 10th June 2011. The event which was initiated since 16 years ago has grown from just local junior golf tournament into an international event. From ASEAN level in 2004, Asean Plus, Asian and now on 3th year running enjoying its popularity as a world championship event featuring 153 junior golf players, who come from 18 nations, they are from: yaitu Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, South Africa, United Kingdom, Myanmar, South Korea, New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, Laos, India, Unitaed Arab Emirates, Hongkong.

Operated since 1992, both of our courses have been well known for its quality among the region. Many awards have been received. Indonesia is proud with the achievement of Indonesia Junior golfer “Jordan Surya Irawan who won the best gross overall” and won girls team. Meanwhile, Boys team China won Jakarta Governor Trophies in team divisions. In addition to the overall champion team for Boys and Girls division Thailand also won five titles in Boys A, C, and D Class and the Girls B and C. APPROACH

Course Characteristic

This green is very long, up to four clubs. Check your distance carefully and aim right of the pin, as it slopes to the left.

SECOND

The two right side bunkers are close to the green. The fairway bulges out to the right, so take a line on the right side of the right hand bunker, and this will leave a pitch down the axis of the green. For those attempting two on, beware of the water running down the left side and along the left border of the green. The greenside bunker only runs one third the length of the green, with a grass verge behind it. Be aggressive and long, and keep to the right section of the green, so that a miss will still leave an open chip.

APPROACH

An approach from the left side will open up the pin if it is on the right. If you find your self hitting from the right side of the fairway, play a little long to be safe.

Play to the left edge of the right side fairway bunker. This bunker borders the right side for about 30 meters and can be reached by most golfers. Long hitters should not be tempted to cut the mild left dog leg as there is no real advantage, and the ball could easily catch the thicker left rough, leaving no chance for two on.

This is up hill and will require one extra club. The green is 3 clubs long, so check the pin posotion. A miss to the right will leave an easy uphill chip, but a pull left can find the deep greenside bunker with the green sloping away from you. If you miss the green, be short, right, or long - not left.

Aim to to the right of the left side fairway bunker. This can only be reached by long hitters, while the shorter, right side bunkers can be reach by most.

The green is wide and shallow and protected by a large bunker front and left, leaving only a narrow finger of fairway into the green on the right. It is raised all round and requires good distance control. The green is very shallow on the left but deeper on the right , so right side is the safest option.

TEE SHOT

Avoid the cluster of right side fairway bunkers. It is best to be on the left side of the fairway, which sits on a lower and level plateau ( the right side slopes down away from the bunkers). The bushy grass in the left rough is out of range for most players. Aim for the right side of the left greenside bunker.

Aim for the right side of the distant left side bunker which is out of range. The right side fairway bunkers are within range for most players.

LAY UP OPTION

Short hitters should lay up short of he right side bunker to leave an easy chip down the axis of the green.

Water runs in front and all along the left side of this green. Anything left is dead. The green is there clubs long, much deeper than it appears from the tee. Make sure you have sufficient club, especially if the pin is at the rear left

GREEN

Slopes from right to left and gently down to the rear.

Water borders the front right side, and rear of this hole. There is a small pot bunker behind the green on the right which is not visible from the tee. The safe shot is centre left. To the left of the green is a grass mound which will deflect balls right to the green. If you pull too far left you will find yourself in long grass.

Aim for the middle fairway bunker, which cannot be reached. Both the left and right side bunkers can be reached by most players.

APPROACH

Aim for the left side of the green, as the left side fairway bunker is about 30 metres short of the green and poses no threat. There is a narrow finger of green at the front to the left side of the greenside bunker. The right side bunker only extends 30% down the length of the green, so if the pin is at the back, keep your approach long for safety.

The green cups in to the center from both sides it is long and slopes gently up to the rear.

APPROACH

GREEN

Lay up short of this left side bunker, especially if the pin is tucked behind the right side bunker. Keep to the right side of the fairway if the pin is on the left.

The fairway narrows in between the front bunkers, with the front edge of the left bunker closer to the player. For most it is best to lay up short of the left side bunker for a short approach of about 40 metres in to the pin. For those attempting two on, it is best to hit long and even a little to the right, as the right side bunker only extends one third the length of the green with grass behind it. Bunkers line the entire length of the left side.

APPROACH

Aim for the left side of the green, as it slopes down in front and to the right towards the water. There is a narrow finger of fairway into the left side of the green for missed shots. The green is long and slopes to the rear.

APPROACH

Is usually into the wind and uphill. Many people fall short into the front bunkers. The green widens to the rear which is free from danger, so it is best to hit long on your approach.

129m Par 3 TEE SHOT

The green is very wide, running diagonally away from you to the left. It is divided from front to back by a swale on the right side causing causing balls to run across the green to the right and left of it. All the trouble is at the front left side bunker. If the pin is short and on at the right side, a safe miss is right to the finger of fairway short of the green. The rear bunkers are at least 20 metres behind the green, so if the pin is middle left, it is best to be one club longer, as any ball going through the green leaves an easy chip back.

Hit to the right of the left side bunker. The right side bunkers can be reached.

282m Par 4 APPROACH

Approaches pulled left can find the water or bunker bordering the green. The green widens out to the rear with a grass bank behind, and the right side bunker extends only two thirds back. There is only a narrow finger of fairway in front, so a safe approach is long and to the right. However with the green also sloping right to left, this will leave a downhill chip with bogey the likely outcome. For those who want to attack for birdie, leave your shot left and short of the pin to leave an uphill putt.

TEE SHOT

Play to the left of the second right side fairway bunker. The fairway narrows in at this point and starts sloping down to the water on the left. It is best to lay up just short of this bunker with an iron or fairway wood to leave a second shot from a flat lie which is still only about 110 meters from the green.

335m Par 4

LAY UP OPTION

Take a line on the refreshment kiosk behind the green if you want to lay up. A chip from here is to an open green

APPROACH

This is a long shot in to the green protected across the front and right border by water. Aim long and left of the pin, especially as you will be playing from a slicing lie with the wind coming in to you from the left. The ground is open behind the the green and leaves an easy chip if you miss the target.

The right side bunker can be reached, but the water is out of range for most. The best line up the left side, where the ball will bounce right on landing.

APPROACH

This is up hill and will require one more club. The green is long and thin with bunkers left and right. Your shot needs to be straight, and take into the extra distance required for elevation and pin position down the green.

TEE SHOT

Play to the left of the third right side fairway bunkers.


APPROACH 492m Par 5

There is water all around the right side, so shots to the left of the pin are best unless the pin is on the extreme left side. The green slopes towards you and is three sticks long, widening to the rear. The left greenside bunker only extends one third of the depth of the green, with a grass hollow behind. It is safer to be long on your approach shot, and slightly left.

LAY UP OPTION

TEE SHOT 287m Par 4

The second fairway bunker cuts into the centre of the fairway and can be reached by most good hitters. The safe option is to lay up short to its left edge, and this still only leaves about 115 metres to the center of the green. Long hitters can fly the corner of this bunker, but be aware that the fairway narrows to half its size past the bunker.

LAY UP OPTION

If you are a short hitter, lay up 50 meters in front of the bunkers, as the fairway narrows in after this point,. This will leave you an easy pitch.

Although this hole is short, the surrounding fringe slopes down to bunkers on all sides, the green is heart shaped - wider at the rear, so it is safer to hit a little past the flag, unless it is at the very rear.

APPROACH

This is usually, in to the prevailing wind, and requires 1 - 2 clubs more that the distance indicates. The ground falls away left and right from the green , so safe misses are only to the front and rar. The green is long and behind it is open, so if the pin is at the back, be aggressive especially if the wind is into you.

There is water on the right, so a safe shot is up the left side of the fairway, where a slight error will only finish in the short cut left rough.

GREEN

Very long left to right, with a ridge, running vertically front to back on the right side. The green slopes down left and right from this ridge, but cups up again at the extreme left lip.

LAY UP OPTION

SECOND

TEE SHOT

IIf you are a slicer, it is safer to lay up short of the bunker to avoid bouncing right and running into the water on the right.

416m Par 5 GREEN

The green is long and initially slopes away from the front, the rises to a plateau at the rear.

SECOND SHOT Aim to the right edge of the left side fairway bunker, and your ball will roll right to the narrow fairway. This will leave an easy third shot of 125 meters to the center of the green.

APPROACH

TEE SHOT

Keep to the left side of the pin for safety, unless the pin is on the extreme left.

Keep to the right of the second left side fairway bunker. This is in range for most players.

SECOND SHOT

Most players should lay up short of the first left side bunker which is near the green. This will leave only a 40 metre pitch to the green, and will open up the green especially if the pin is on the right side long hitters can easily reach this green for two, but aim just to the right of the left side bunker and let the breeze and slope move your ball to the right. Only attempt two on if you are sure that you can carry it all the way, as there is a steep down slope in front of the green which runs off to the right and the water.

TEE SHOT

The left side bunker is long and thin and in range, with the closest part of visible from the tee, keep to the right of it and on landing the ball will roll right with the slope. Water is on the right, but only a danger for wild the shots.

APPROACH

Anything to the right will find the water, which runs along the front and right side of the green. Short hitters should consider laying up short of the left side bunker. The left side bunker only extends one third the length of this long green, and the green widens at the rear. Unless the pin is at the front, it is best to hit long and slightly left, as a miss will find open ground and an easy chip to the pin

LAY UP OPTION

Lay up short of this bunker. It will leave a short chip along the axis of the green, and even allow a chip and run if the flag is on the right side near the water.

TEE SHOT

There are two options from the tee. Average hitters should aim right of the left side fairway bunkers. The green is still reachable for the second shot. Longer hitters can attempt the water carry to the right finger of fairway. This will leave a more direct approach to the green. Be aware that the left and right fairways run parallel for about 30 meters, so any player who may only just clear the water carry should consider playing down the left side fairway, as he will not be penalized with distance.

Sementara itu, pegolf Filipina Sarah Ababa di tempat ketiga bersama pegolf Malaysia Nur Durriyah bt Damian dengan catatan 75 pukulan atau tiga di atas par. "Saya cukup senang bisa mencetak pukulan under di lapangan ini, karena di sini dikenal sulit," kata Ika Woro yang baru-baru ini namanya dicoret dari pelatnas SEA Games 2011. "Hari pertama ini saya mencetak empat birdie berbanding tiga bogey yang saya buat," katanya tentang hasil permainannya. "Saya bermain agresif, sembilan lubang pertama permainan saya bermain bagus, tapi sembilan selanjutnya merosot," katanya tentang 18 lubang yang dia mainkan pada hari pertama kejuaraan itu."Pada sembilan lubang kedua, pukulan saya tidak mengarah ke pin dan sering melenceng ke kanan," tambahnya. GOLF - PUTRI AISYAH DI POSISI TIGA PUTARAN PERTAMA Jakarta, 8/6 (ANTARA) - Pegolf putri Indonesia Putri, Aisyah Amani, harus puas berada di posisi tiga pada putaran pertama untuk kelas B putri pada Kejuaraan Golf Junior Dunia Enjoy Jakarta 2011, Rabu, di Damai Indah Golf, Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jakarta, setelah dia mencatat 72 pukulan atau even par. Sementara itu, pegolf Thailand Benyapa Niphatsophon dan pegolf China Wu Sha berbagi posisi pimpinan setelah mencatat 70 pukulan atau dua di bawah par. Sedangkan Felicia Paulina Medalla dari Filipina di posisi empat dengan 75 pukulan atau tiga di atas par. Sedangkan posisi Kasaree Rojanapiensatit (Thailand) makin kokoh di puncak Kelas C putri setelah pada putaran pertama mencetak 75 pukulan atau tiga di atas par, sehingga secara total skor dia membukukan 148 pukulan atau empat di atas par. Pada kelas A putra, Jordan Surya Irawan membukukan total 221 pukulan atau lima di atas par selama tiga putaran permainan (75, 73, 73), terpaut dua pukulan di belakang pimpinan Danthai Boon dari Thailand yang membukukan 219 pukulan atau tiga di atas par (71, 77, 71). Sedangkan pegolf Malaysia Abdul Rahim di urutan ketiga dengan 222 pukulan atau enam di atas par (72, 77, 73). Exposure on the net GOLF - THAILAND REBUT TIGA GELAR JELANG AKHIR EJWJGC Jakarta, 9/6 (ANTARA) - Thailand merebut tiga gelar juara di Kelas C dan D Putra, serta C Putri dan satu-satunya gelar yang lepas adalah Kelas D Putri yang diraih Malaysia pada Kejuaraan Golf Junior Dunia Enjoy Jakarta (EJWJGC) 2011 di Damai Indah Golf, Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jakarta, Kamis. Juara Kelas C Putra adalah Poowit Anupanseubai yang mengumpulkan skor akhir 217 (77, 71, 69). Anupanseubai mengungguli Daniel Wirawan (227) dan Almay Rayhan (227) yang keduanya berasal dari Indonesia. Pegolf Thailand pun meraih gelar juara Kelas D Putra. Paratagorn Suoyasee yang terus memimpin dari hari pertama akhirnya menutup permain, Kamis, dengan perolehan skor 210 (73, 70, 67). Posisi kedua tetap diambil Kittipong Paitonjareonsook (Thailand) yang juga bertahan sejak hari sebelumnya dengan skor total 223 (74, 72, 77). Jordan memastikan kemenangannya setelah pada permainan putaran keempat atau terakhir, Jumat, mencatat 74 pukulan, sehingga selama empat putaran dia membukukan total 295 pukulan atau tujuh di atas par (75, 73, 73, 74). Jordan Surya Irawan mempersembahkan gelar untuk kelas A perorangan putra setelah menyabet gelar Best Over All dengan membukukan total skor 295 pukulan atau tujuh di atas par (75, 73, 73, 74), unggul dari Smithi Teeratkhul (296) dan Danthai Boon (299). Sedangkan tim putri Indonesia mampu menggaet gelar juara umum beregu putri, melalui pasangan Ika Woro Palupi (Kelas A) dan Putri Aisyah Amani (Kelas B). “Di sini saya tidak menargetkan juara, karena saya banyak pesaing kuat yang harus saya hadapi, ini suatu kejutan bagi saya,” kata Jordan Surya Irawan di sela-sela acara penutupan EJWJGC, Jumat. Di Kelas B Putra, seperti yang diprediksi sebelumnya, tidak banyak perubahan pada juara pertama dan kedua. Pegolf China, Guan Tian Lang, akhirnya meraih gelar juara di kelas usia 13-14 tahun. Meski menutup permainan, Jumat, dengan 76 pukulan atau empat di atas par, Lang tetap tidak tergoyahkan dengan perolehan skor total 286 (67, 70, 73, 76) atau dua di bawah par. Sementara, Andrew Wirawan (Indonesia) yang hari ini bermain 75, dan mengoleksi angka total 301 (77, 74, 75, 75), mampu mempertahankan posisi kedua, tertinggal 15 pukulan. Juara ketiga diraih Sebastian Lorenza (Filipina) yang tiba-tiba menyodok ke urutan ketiga, menggusur Aditya Nur Setyantiko (Indonesia). Lorenza menduduki posisi itu setelah mengumpulkan skor total 308 (78, 75, 76, 75). Sementara, di Kelas A Putri, terjadi kejutan. Meski skor totalnya sama dengan Sarah Ababa (Filipina), Jok Ee memenangi gelar juara karena menang di perhitungan skor 18 hole di hari terakhir. Sarah mencetak angka 73 pada hari terakhir itu. Peringkat ketiga diduduki Lara Weinstein (Afsel), yang meraih skor total 227. Di Kelas B Putri, wakil Thailand, Benyapa Niphatsophon, mengukuhkan diri menjadi jawara kelas usia 13-14. Mengumpulkan skor total 214 (70, 74, 70), Niphatsophon memimpin dengan keunggulan tiga pukulan, dari Putri Aisyah Amani (Indonesia), dan 6 pukulan dari Lou Daniela Uy (Filipina).Sehari sebelumnya, Kamis, Thailand telah merebut tiga gelar juara di Kelas C (oleh Poowit Anupanseubai) dan D Putra (Paratagorn Suoyasee), serta C Putri (Kasaree Rojanapiensatit).
