1. Work context and main tasks Work Context In the framework of scientific research projects sponsored by the Belgian Ministry of Defense, we are looking for a researcher for the study F09-05 entitled ’Mobile Ad Hoc Networks and Wireless Sensor Networks’. The main objective of this project is to study, evaluate and implement different Medium Access Methods for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. We want in particular study methods that are based on distributed TDMA (Time division multiple Access). This research will not only be limited to a theoretical study, but will also include a practical implementation of the studied methods on a real wireless sensor testbed. The duration of the study is limited to 1.5 years. The research will be performed at the CISS department of the Royal Military Academy (RMA). The candidate will be supervised by luitenant-kolonel Bart SCHEERS, Dr. Ir. He/she will be integrated in a research team of about 20 people.
Main Tasks Perform research activities in the frame of the project F09-05. Report the progress results to the department of scientific and technologic research of the Belgium Defence. Report the obtained results at international conferences and write scientific papers.

1. Contexte de la fonction et tâches y afférentes Contexte de la fonction Dans le cadre d’un programme de recherche scientifique financé par la Défense, nous sommes à la recherche d’un chercheur pour l’étude F0905. L’étude a comme titre ‘Mobile Ad Hoc Networks and Wireless Sensor Networks’. Le projet consiste à étudier, évaluer et mettre en œuvre différentes méthodes d'accès au médium (Medium Acces Controle) dans des réseaux ad hoc sans fil ou des réseaux de capteurs. Plus particulièrement, nous voudrions étudier les méthodes du type TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) distribué. Contrairement à de nombreuses études dans ce domaine, le projet a pour but de non seulement de mener une étude théorique mais également de mettre en œuvre de manière systématique, les différentes méthodes sur un réseau de capteurs réel. La durée de l'étude est limitée à 1.5 années. La recherche aura lieu au sein du département CISS de l’Ecole royale militaire (ERM). Le Département CISS a pour mission d’assurer l’enseignement et de développer la recherche en technologies d’acquisition, de traitement et de transfert de l’information au profit de la Défense et de la Société. Le (la) candidat(e) travaillera sous la supervision directe du lieutenant-colonel Bart SCHEERS Dr. Ir. et sera intégré(e) à une équipe d’environ 20 chercheurs. Principales tâches
Faire de la recherche dans le cadre du projet F09-05. Rédiger les résultats intermédiaires et finaux au département de la recherche scientifique et technologique de la Défense (RSTD). Communiquer les résultats obtenus lors de congrès internationaux, rédiger des publications scientifiques.

Il/elle est capable de travailler aussi bien de manière autonome qu’au sein d’une équipe multidisciplinaire. 1. Context van de functie en taken
Context van de functie In het kader van het programma Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek, gesubsidieerd door Defensie, zijn wij op zoek naar een onderzoeker voor de studie F0905, met als titel :’Mobile Ad Hoc Networks and Wireless Sensor Networks’. De studie beoogt voornamelijk het onderzoeken, evalueren en implementeren van Medium Access Methodes voor Mobiele Ad Hoc Netwerken. In het bijzonder zal de aandacht uitgaan naar gedistribueerde TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) methodes. In tegenstelling tot vele studies in dit domein, zal deze studie zich niet enkel beperken tot een theoretische studie, maar zullen de bestudeerde algoritmes systematisch geïmplementeerd worden op een reëel sensornetwerk. De duur van de studie is beperkt tot 1.5 jaar. Het onderzoek vindt plaats in het departement CISS van de Koninklijke militaire school (KMS). Het departement Communication Information Systems & Sensors (CISS) heeft als opdracht het verzekeren van het onderwijs en het verrichten van onderzoek ten voordele van Defensie en van de maatschappij in het domein van het opnemen, behandelen en overbrengen van informatie. De kandidaat zal werken onder de leiding van luitenant-kolonel Bart SCHEERS, Dr. Ir. en zal in een ploeg van ongeveer 20 vorsers geïntegreerd worden. Voornaamste taken -
Verrichten van onderzoek in het kader van het project F09-05. Rapporteren van de vorderingsresultaten aan het departement van het wetenschappelijke en technologische onderzoek van Defensie. De resultaten voorstellen op internationale symposia en opstellen van wetenschappelijke publicaties.
