Key words: Teachers’ perception, English as a medium of instruction English as a medium of instruction is one system to use mathematics and science teachers to improve their quality in teaching mathematics and science process. But, in fact the teachers confuse how to use it, because of their English skill was poor. The purpose of this research is to find out the teachers’ perception on English as a medium of instruction for teaching mathematics and science. This research is qualitative research and the design of this research was case study. The writer collects the data through the questionnaire and interview. The questionnaire is given to the twenty teachers from six mathematics teachers and fourteen science teachers in SMA N 1 Gebog Kudus to find out the teachers’ perception on English as a medium of instruction for teaching mathematics and science. In the result of the research, the writer concludes that the teachers’ perception of the using English as a medium of instruction in for teaching mathematics and science are different. Some of the mathematics and science teachers agree to use English as a medium of instruction for teaching mathematics and science. But, they do not have confidence to use it. In the other hand, some of mathematics and science teachers disagree to use English as a medium of instruction in teaching and learning process. The teachers still find the problem when they use English as a medium of instruction. Therefore, the writer suggests that the mathematics and science teachers should be confident with their English skill so they can good to use English as a medium of instruction for the teaching mathematics and science.

Kata Kunci : Pandangan guru, bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar. Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar adalah salah satu sistem yang digunakan oleh guru untuk meningkatkan kualitas mereka dalam mengajar pelajaran matematika dan ilmu pengetahuan alam (IPA). Tetapi, pada kenyataannya guru malah kebingungan untuk menggunakan bahasa inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar. Karena kemampuan bahasa inggrisnya masih kurang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahuir pandangan guru tentang penggunaan bahasa Inggris saat proses pembelajaran matematika dan ilmu pengetahuan alam (IPA) Penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dan design dari penelitian ini adalah studi kasus. Instrumen yang saya gunakan adalah questioner. Penelti menggumpulkan data dengan menggunakan daftar pertanyaan dan wawancara. Daftar pertanyaan diberikan kepada duapuluh guru dari guru matematika dan ilmu pengetahuan alam (IPA) di SMA N 1 Gebog Kudus untuk mengetahui pandangan guru tentang pengguaan bahasa Inggris saat proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Dalam hasil penelitian ini, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa persepsi guru sangat berbeda-beda ketika menggunakan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar dalam pelajaran matematika dan ilmu pengetahuan. Beberapa dari guru matematika dan ilmu pengetahuan ada yang setuju untuk menggunakan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar untuk pelajaran matematika dan ilmu pengetahuan alam (IPA). Tapi, mereka tidak percaya diri untuk menggunakannya. Di sisi lain, beberapa guru matematika dan guru ilmu pengetahuan tidak setuju untuk menggunakan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar dalam proses belajar mengajar. Para guru masih menemukan masalah saat menggunakan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar. Oleh karena itu, penulis menyarankan bahwa guru matematika dan guru ilmu pengetahuan alam (IPA) harus yakin akan kemampuan bahasa Inggrisnya sehingga mereka dapat menggunakan bahasa Inggris sebagai pengantar untuk matematika mengajar dan ilmu pengetahuan dengan baik.
