Lesplan lezen/luisteren/spreken B1 - les 2 10.00 uur - presentie 10.05 uur - Theorie Lezen B1 Inleiding In deze workshop gaan we ons bezighouden met lezen op B1 niveau. We bespreken eerst een aantal algemene zaken met betrekking tot lezen en zullen daarna een aantal specifieke documenten bespreken en tips geven om deze documenten sneller te kunnen begrijpen. We wensen je weer veel succes! De schrijver en zijn doel. Ook lezen heeft te maken met communiceren. De schrijver heeft een boodschap die hij aan de lezer wil doorgeven. Hij heeft een doel dat hij wil bereiken. Als lezer moet je die boodschap begrijpen. De schrijver kiest ook de passende tekst bij zijn doel. Als je een tekst leest, bekijk dan altijd eerst met wat voor tekst je te maken hebt. Als je dat weet, dan weet je ook welk doel de schrijver wil bereiken. Dus: a. Wat voor soort tekst is dit? b. Wat is het doel van de schrijver? De lezer en zijn doel. We kunnen dit ook omdraaien. Als lezer heb je een bepaald doel, je zoekt bepaalde informatie of je zoekt een bepaald soort tekst. Je wilt bijvoorbeeld iets weten over een onderwerp omdat je een werkstuk voor school moet maken of je zoekt een verhaal omdat je zin hebt om iets leuks te lezen. Ga bij het lezen als volgt te werk en vraag je af: 1. Wat is mijn doel? Waarom ga ik lezen? 2. Wat wil ik weten? 3. Welk soort tekst hoort hierbij? 4. Pas leestechnieken toe (zie hiervoor ook de paragraaf snellezen) om te bepalen welke tekst je het beste kunt gaan lezen. 5. Lees de tekst. 6. Heb je je doel bereikt? Juist als je teksten in een vreemde taal moet lezen, is het goed om deze stappen te doorlopen. Je spaart dan tijd en werkt veel efficiënter. Je hoeft ook niet meteen aan de slag met lastige woorden en zinnen, dat doe je pas als je de tekst echt intensief gaat lezen.
Doelen en tekstsoorten Als je doelgericht wil lezen, moet je natuurlijk weten welke leesdoelen er zijn. Probeer zelf maar eens een lijstje te maken van redenen waarom je leest. Je zult zien dat dat een hele lijst is, maar ook dat we die lijst kunnen samenvatten in een paar woorden. Kijk maar: 1. informeren 2. overtuigen 3. activeren 4. amuseren 5. instrueren Niet alle tekstsoorten zijn geschikt voor een bepaald doel. Als je bijvoorbeeld informatie over een bepaald onderwerp wilt geven, dan ga je geen roman schrijven. Maak voor jezelf ook eens een lijst van zoveel mogelijk tekstsoorten. Hoeveel kun je er verzinnen? Hieronder vind je een kleine lijst. We zetten er ook de doelen bij die erbij horen. • roman - amuseren
• gedicht - amuseren • rapport - informeren • memo - informeren/activeren • zoekmachine - informeren • handleiding - instrueren • brochure - informeren • advertentie - activeren Let op! Sommige tekstsoorten kunnen natuurlijk ook verschillende doelen hebben, zoals een brief. Het hangt er dan vanaf wat voor soort brief je schrijft: een persoonlijke brief aan een vriend of een zakelijke brief aan een bedrijf.
Snellezen Je weet nu welk leesdoel je hebt, wat je wilt weten en welke tekstsoort je dus zoekt. Nu wil je zo snel mogelijk weten of je de goede tekst gevonden hebt. En als je de goede tekst hebt, dan wil je die zo snel mogelijk kunnen lezen en begrijpen. Dat gaan we je nu in een paar stappen vertellen. Ga als volgt te werk en vraag je na elke stap af of je de goede tekst gevonden hebt en bepaal dan of je verder leest. Lees de: 1. titel 2. tussenkopjes 3. eerste regel van elke alinea 4. de hele tekst Als je deze stappen steeds neemt, zul je minder tijd besteden aan de verkeerde teksten en de goede teksten zul je sneller en beter kunnen lezen.
Wat is belangrijk? Je weet nu welk doel je hebt, welke tekstsoort je zoekt en je hebt de goede tekst gevonden en gelezen. Nu moet je er misschien voor zorgen dat je de belangrijkste zaken uit die tekst op een rijtje zet. Soms is dat nodig omdat je voor je studie een aantal zaken moet leren en onthouden. Op je werk moet je soms informatie doorgeven aan collega’s. In beide gevallen moet je dus de belangrijkste zaken uit deze tekst halen en op een rijtje zetten: samenvatten dus. We geven een rijtje met tips: 1. Vergeet je leesdoel niet. 2. Bekijk eerst de inhoudsopgave. 3. Lees de titel en tussenkopjes, deze geven aan waar het stukje over gaat 4. Onderstreep in elk stukje de belangrijkste zin. Er is altijd één hoofdzin. 5. Onderstreep woorden die lastig zijn en die belangrijk zijn om de tekst te begrijpen 6. Let op woorden zoals “and, but, or, so”. Deze geven aan of je te maken hebt met een opsomming, bezwaar, tegenstelling, conclusie etc. 7. Gebruik kleuren. 8. Maak opsommingen . 9. Laat voorbeelden weg. 10. Laat beschrijvende woorden weg. 11. Vat elke alinea in één of twee zinnen samen. Schrijf in je eigen woorden, dan is het makkelijker om te onthouden of verder te vertellen. 12. Schrijf de samenvatting in losse woorden.
Tips
Tenslotte geven we nog een lijst met algemene tips. Ook deze tips helpen je om een Engelse tekst sneller en makkelijker te begrijpen. • Zorg dat je goed zit. • Gebruik een liniaal om de regels te volgen. • Lees door! Stop niet bij elk woord dat je niet snapt. • Zoek een woord op als het belangrijk is en vaker voorkomt. • Gebruik tekeningen, trefwoorden, kleuren, schema’s, plaatjes, pijlen etc. • Maak de zinnen in de tekst korter en eenvoudiger, gebruik eenvoudigere woorden • Let op feiten en meningen. Let op meningen die op feiten lijken. Engels leren Dit is misschien wel de beste tip van allemaal. Lees veel Engels en lees teksten voor je plezier. Ga op zoek naar teksten en onderwerpen die je leuk vindt en die je interesseren. Dat kunnen ook strips zijn of zogenaamde ‘feeds’ op het internet. Je zult zien dat je snel beter en sneller gaat lezen en dat ook het spreken makkelijker gaat. Tip! Neem een abonnement op Dutchnews. Dit is een site die Nederlands nieuws in het Engels brengt. De stukjes zijn over het algemeen kort en vrij eenvoudig. Je zult ze ook vrij snel kunnen begrijpen omdat je over het algemeen wel weet waar deze stukjes over gaan.

He has not decided on a location yet, but he has many wishes: • Dennis would not like to live in the countryside. • He likes to go out, so he wants to live near or in a town or city centre. • He is not attracted to traditional houses. • He likes luxurious features and he does not want to do much work before he can move in. • He lives alone, so the property does not need to be large. • He would like to have a garden. • He does not own a car, so parking is not important. • He likes running and he would like to have a park or recreation area nearby.

Have another look at the properties and choose the house that best fits your classmate’s description. Write a note to your classmate and explain which property you have chosen for him/her and why.
