Background : • Air Laya Open Pit Mineable Reserves for export quality are limited (105 million ton with Geological Reserves 256 million ton) • Potential of High Wall mining and and U/G Mining of deep seated coal in Air Laya to increase mining recovery Objective : •
To conduct Coal Reserves Exploration and to prepare a Pre Feasibility Study of High Wall Mining & U/G Mining in Air Laya mine to maintain and increase PTBA’s coal export (especially to Japan).

WORK FOR DGMCG/PTBA
DGMCG/PTBA shall undertake the following during the course of the project : • Preparation Existing geological data • Preparation land acquisition for access road to drillholes, seismic lines etc. • Coal analysis • Rock / Soil analysis • Survey work for drillholes points, seismic reflection survey points and the location of outcrops which would be confirmed by Geological Mapping. • Preparation of topographical maps at the scale of 1 : 5,000 for the target area.
