Para pemegang saham yang terhormat,
Dear shareholders,
Despite global economic crisis, Indonesia’s economic growth remained positive at 4.3% in 2009, due to strong growth in consumer demand during the year. Meanwhile, lower commodity prices supported a lower inflation level of 2.78% (yoy) in 2009 from 11.06% (yoy) in 2008, providing room for BI Rate to decline from 9.25% at the end of 2008 to 6.5% at the end of 2009.

Having been in the banking industry for almost 7 decades served as a great advantage for us as we were able to understand the market well. We understand that we have to monitor closely the business cycle in order to have a sustainable growth. We were fully aware that we have been growing rapidly in the past 5 years, hence realignment and consolidation are necessary in order to position the Bank for the next phase of strong growth. Market condition in 2009 offered the opportunity for us to do so.

Kami memfokuskan inisiatif kami pada nasabah karena kami ingin menjadi “Your Partner for Life” bagi mereka.
We have been also successful in rolling paradigm shift toward higher quality. We invited all business units to bring quality improvement project proposal which would help them perform better in the future. We focused all our initiatives on customers as we want to become “Your Partner for Life” for them. We differentiated our customers based on their profile and unique needs, and adjusted our operation to support their needs accordingly. We started to align our products, process and distribution channel according to the characteristics of customers that we served.
In Information Technology, we also managed to launch our internet banking services to provide convenience for customers in performing banking transaction. Customers now have more options in accessing our services, which we believe would help creating higher efficiency in transacting with our Bank.
Kami berhasil mengakhiri tahun 2009 dengan peningkatan laba bersih sebesar 37,5% yoy menjadi Rp 436 miliar di tahun 2009. Total aset tumbuh sebesar 8,2% yoy menjadi Rp 37,1 triliun, sementara ekuitas meningkat sebesar 14,0% yoy menjadi Rp 4,1 triliun. Kami mencatat pertumbuhan kredit sebesar 5,2% yoy menjadi Rp 21,9 triliun karena kami tetap hati-hati menyikapi perkembangan perekonomian makro hingga triwulan ketiga tahun 2009.
We ended 2009 with a 37.5% yoy growth in net profit to Rp 436 billion in 2009. Total assets grew by 8.2% yoy to Rp 37.1 trillion, while shareholders equity rose by 14.0% yoy to Rp 4.1 trillion. Higher non interest income and improvement in operating efficiency has supported our performance. This strong achievement was recorded despite a slower loan growth during the year. We recorded a 5.2% yoy loan growth to Rp 21.9 trillion as we remained cautious with the macro economic development until the third quarter of 2009. We began actively entering the lending market in the fourth quarter of 2009 after ensuring that a recovery on the economy was on its way. Consequently, our loan growth in the fourth quarter of 2009 was quite high at 10.2% qoq. Coupled with our proactive approach in monitoring loan accounts, we managed to maintain our net NPL at 1.39% despite the global economic upheaval. This offers to strong foundation to pursue stronger loan growth in the years ahead. We are very pleased that consolidation plans in 2009 were successfully implemented without compromising profit performance.
