Keyword: The Kinds of Politeness Strategies, the Context of Situation of Politeness Strategies. Communication is the common activities that must people do to deliver their idea to the other. In this activity there will be two sides that are the sender and receiver. The sender that is a person who delivers the idea and the receiver is a person who accepts the idea. The main goals of this activity are not only to deliver the idea from the sender to the receiver clearly but also to make a good situation when the communication occurs. People can judge a person from the way he communicates with each other. Because of that we must keep our language and polite to make communication clearly. Nowadays, politeness seems ignored from our society, especially for the students. Students still have difficulties to apply politeness strategy when they speak with other. They use same sentence to speak, and there are no politeness. It is caused by their habit which politeness is ignoring when they have conversation. Because of that reason, the writer used Facebook chatting to be analyzed in order to understand the politeness strategies. The purpose of using Facebook chatting is to develop the understanding about politeness strategies. The purpose of this research is to find out kinds of politeness strategies and the context of situation are used in conversation in internet chatting of facebook. This research is descriptive research, which give description of politeness strategies and the context of situation in internet chatting of facebook. The writer takes the data from the beginning conversation until the end, then the writer analyzes the kinds of politeness strategies that are used in the conversation and describe the sentence in form of table, after that the writer will analyze the context of situation. The result of this research shows that there are three kinds of politeness strategies are used in conversation in internet chatting of Facebook, they are: Positive Politeness, Negative Politeness, and Bald on Record and three kinds contexts of situation are used in conversation in internet chatting of facebook, they are: field, mode, and tenor. After knowing the result of this research, it can be concluded that with knowing the politeness strategy; we can know the suitable language style which will be used to make conversation with certain person from different backgrounds which is found in many places, like in social networking (facebook chatting). And with use facebook chatting we can be fun to learn how to make conversation with various language style and check our understanding about politeness strategy.

Kata Kunci: Jenis Strategi Kesopanan, Konteks Situasi Komunikasi adalah hal yang umum dilakukan orang-orang untuk menyampaikan ide mereka kepada orang lain. Dalam aktifitas ini akan ada dua pihak, yaitu pihak pengirim dan penerima. Pengirm adalah orang yan menyampaikan ide mereka dan penerima adalah orang yang menerima ide. Tujuan utama dari aktivitas ini tidak hanya menampaikan ide dari pengirim ke penerima secara jelas tapi juga untuk membuat situasi yang baik ketika komunikasi terjadi. Orang-orang bisa menilai orang dari cara dia berkomunikasi dengan orang lain. Oleh karena itu kita harus menjaga kesopanan bahasa kita. Akhir-akhir ini kesopanan terlihat diabaikan dalam lingkungan kita khususnya dikalangan pelajar. Pelajar masih kesulitan dalam menerapkan kesopanan ketika berbicara dengan orang lain. Mereka menggunakan bahasa yang sama tanpa menggunakan kesopanan ketika berbicara dengan siapapun yang mereka temui. Itu disebaban karena kebiasaan mereka yang mengabaikan kesopanan ketika mereka berbicara. Karena alasan tersebut, penulis menggunakan percakapan di Facebook untuk dianalisis untuk memahami strategi kesopanan. Percakapan di Facebook berguna untuk mengembangkan pemahaman tentang strategi kesopanan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan jenis strategi kesopanan dan konteks situasi yang digunakan di chatting di Facebook. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang memberikan deskripsi tentang jenis strategi kesopanan dan konteks situasi yang digunakan di chatting di Facebook. Penulis mengambil data dari percakapan awal hingga akhir, kemudian penulis menganalisis jenis strategi kesopanan, setelah itu penulis menganalisis konteks situasi dalam bentuk tabel. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ada tiga jenis strategi kesopanan yang digunakan dalam percakapan di Facebook, yaitu: positive politeness, negative politeness, dan bald on record dan tiga jenis konteks situasi yang digunakan dalam percakapan di Facebook, yaitu: field, tenor, dan mode. Setelah mengetahui hasil dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan mengetahui jenis strategi kesopanan dan konteks situasi yang digunakan dalam percakapan di Facebook, kita bisa mengetahui gaya bahasa yang sesuai yang digunakan untuk berbicara dengan orang tertentu yang berasal dari berbagai latar belakang yang dijumpai dibanyak tempat seperti dijejaring social (percakapan di Facebook). Dan dengan menggunakan percakapan di Facebook, kita menjadi senang untuk mempelajari tentang cara membuat percakapan dengan memakai gaya bahasa yang bervariasi dan mengukur pemahaman kita tentang strategi kesopanan.
