“Best of better” is a project conceived for Gallery 207. His main task is to find how much depends the meaning of painting on the surrounding it corresponds with. It is not about installation of paintings in gallery space, but about the space as a complex, in which we can manipulate with paintings and change visual sphere without a change of original context. Paintings functioning as a space instruments, could be understood as a kind of visual puzzle. A title „best of better“ is derived from material i come out from. It is a book called „Alphabet of good housing „SNTL., 1970 which is full of advices, how it is possible treat and alternate a space of flat. Imaginary freedom of choices is denied by limited spectrum of processes. A visual form is also up taken from that book. Shapes are taken from a cot of schema of ground-plan in a real size. In circumstance, a size of gallery is same as the room in panel house. (4x3 so 12m2)

How we can recycle already finished art artefacts, change a space of gallery and its perception? We tried it with Jan Zdvořák, Adam Stanko and Štěpán Soukup on the exhibition called Screen. Idea came from irritation from previous exhibition, and its totally scattered installation,( information it gave was meaningless. ) We decided to consolidate whole space, with minimal modification of original installation. We moved all art works to two corners and closed them by two semi transparent white walls from plastic. By this space of gallery was cleared and seemed bigger, even thou it became on its 1/4th smaller. A look on semi transparent wall urges to realize hidden space in place of single artefacts, it submits their unclear senses.

The exhibition of three Czech artists is conceived as in a way reflection of a painting medium in its wider context. It is related to stereotypes governing the selection of themes, attributes, styles, symbolic frame of quality and history – in this case it is art history or culture studies as well as practical methods and physical qualities. The exhibition will be divided into three sections. The first section will in a way concern film and the opinion that content of a more recent medium is in fact an older medium, in terms of film it is a novel and a painting. The second one is going to deal with the properties of a painting medium – building up an illusion, illusoriness. The third section will play with an idea of “a painting as a body”.
The exhibition is a collaborative work by Petr Krátký, Petr Malina and Marek Meduna

For Charlotte Dumas installation is constructed in a particular environment gallery. More precisely, the garden, which builds on the gallery space. I was inspired by Dutch photographer Charlotte Dumas, who shoot animals. Therefore I decided to give her the work, as the name says. The garden reminds the viewer into the cage and it may look through the gallery window and glass door. But can not enter. Middle of the garden is located a piece of meat. He evokes food for the animal, which escaped. It is out there somewhere and we do not know where. Or it may be the animal itself. The visitor is given space for interpretation. This is a work whose content is determined by an absent factor.

Hi Vladimir, here is an outline of what I wanted to shoot with you. It would be a short video. (Background), sister of my grandmother gave me a picture. I got it home about 5 years now. Somehow I did not know what to do with him. It is a landscape (such that we all know from their grandparents‘ homes) two trees in the foreground, look at the hills and in the middle of all plans is surging through the field lane. It is oil on canvas, 50x 60 cm, undated, but from an aunt I know it was painted painter in 50th-60th 20th century. The author has the same name as you. Ac. Houdek. (Signed in lower right corner of the picture) (Idea) static shots from a tripod in a neutral space. I stand there, then come into view you hold in your hands this picture, which you will try to break on my head.

This movie was filmed in Museum Bojimans van Beuningen in Rotterdam. The central character is the audience (the visitor galleries, artist, me) which manifested a novel form of a personal confrontation with art artifacts. Museum, a place mentally challenging environment for the intellect and psyche, there is commented physically demanding activities. Movement in itself, connecting admiring applause, the uncertainty in the knees and masturbation above fetish of picture.

Trial of self inflammation is an act of place imitations. In this way could be understood, but truth is somewhere else. Clearly speaking we dont know where! To make attempt for such a intangible thing as self inflammation is must be very brave. Someone would say insane. He declares to legacy of Viennese actionism and goes even further. I risk my life! They ae interested in maximum distinction between a form and content. I risk everything, but nothing becomes apparent!
