• Po I, he a she můžeme ve větě s if užít was namísto were, obzvláště v neformální mluvené angličtině. If it was easier, I’d study Japanese.
• going to lze také užít pro předem zajištěné budoucí děje. I’m going to play tennis this afternoon.
• Could plní funkci minulého času a tvaru podmiňovacího způsobu (Conditional) slovesa can. He could walk to work when he lived close to the office. (Minulost = bylo to možné) He could walk to work if he had more time. (Podmiňovací způsob = bylo by to možné)
• Minulý čas (Past Simple) v prvním a druhém podmínkovém souvětí nevyjadřuje prostou minulost. Vztahuje se k hypotetické situaci. If I were the Prime Minister ... (ale nejsem premiér).
