De PC74 snelle CMOS familie combineert de lage vermogensdissipatie van de HE4000B familie met de hoge snelheid en DRIVE CAPABILITY van de weinig energie verbruikende Schottky TTL (LSTTL). De famiiie heeft dezelfde pinconfiguratie als de 54/74 series en is voorzien van dezelfde circuit functies. De basisfamilie van de gebufferde DEVICES, aangeduid als PC74HCXXXXX, werken op CMOS ingangsniveau en met een grote storingsongevoeligheid, te verwaarlozen gemiddelde ruststroom en de voedingsspanning van 26 volt. Een groep van de familie aangeduid als PC74HCTXXXXX, met dezelfde eigenschappen en toepassingen als de HC typen, werkt op de standaard TTL voedingsspanning (5 V ± 10%) en logisch niveau (0,8 tot 2,0 V) waardoor te gebruiken als exacte CMOS vervanging met een lager energieverbruik zonder verlies aan snelheid. Deze typen zijn dan ook geschikt voor het vervangen van TTL door CMOS. Een andere groep, de PC74XXXXX zijn enkel STAGE ongebufferde CMOS vervangende IC’s voor toepassing in RC of kristalgestuurde oscillatoren en andere soorten teruggekoppelde schakelingen die werken in de LINEAR MODE.

De LOCMOS HE4000B reeks is een volledig gebufferd digitaal geïntegreerde circuitreeks volgens de Jedec-B specificatie. De typen van deze reeks zijn exacte vervangers voor de bekende CMOS 4000 en 14500 series. De HE reeks heeft dezelfde voordelen als de conventionele CMOS schakelingen, plus de extra LOCMOS voordelen. Aanbevolen voedingsspanning 3 tot 5 V. LOCMOS betekent Locaal Oxidatie Complementaire MOS. in- en uitgangen zijn beschermd tegen elektrostatische effecten in een breed gebied van toepassingen. Echter om geheel zeker te zijn is het wenselijk de normale voorzorgsmaatregelen in acht te nemen.
