Evolutionary Ecology oîMadracis
I realize that I'm a fortunate person in doing the work that is a dream of many people. Working at the pristine reefs of Curaçao and Bonaire gave me the chance to get to know many aspects of coral reef life. But even at these places the ongoing worldwide decline of coral reefs is visible. Since reefs often occur in places where other problems prevail, the task of protecting them is not the easiest. I therefore dedicate this thesis to those that do this work under such circumstances. Secondly, there is a type of person that is willing to sacrifice a lot in pursuing their dream to work on coral reefs. I was lucky to have met a few of them and it is also to them that I dedicate this thesis. Without them reefs may disappear before anybody knows what they really are.
