Abstract This paper unveils the thinkings of the ideal of Indonesia of the future, by proposing the concept of development of the Indonesian mass media system. The development of the mass media system is obviously important for the development of Indonesian nation in the future since mass media is not just a business institution by which people work and pursue their interests, but it also is social as well as political institution. It means that the mass media becomes a strategic arena that shapes the mind and opinion of its people.
