Csongor István Nagy is professor of law at and the head of the Department of Private International Law at the University of Szeged. He is recurrent visiting professor at the Central European University (Budapest/New York), the Sapientia University of Transylvania (Romania) and the Riga Graduate School of Law (Latvia). He is admitted to the Budapest Bar. In 2015-2016, he was Fulbright visiting professor and adjunct professor at the Indiana University, Bloomington. Csongor graduated at the Eötvös Loránd University of Sciences (ELTE, dr. jur.) in Budapest, in 2003, where he also earned a Ph.D. in 2009. During his studies he was a member of the István Bibó College of Law and Political Sciences and of the Invisible College. He received master (LL.M., 2004) and S.J.D. degrees (2010) from the Central European University (CEU) in Budapest/New York. As exchange student, he pursued graduate studies in Rotterdam, Heidelberg and Ithaca, New York (Cornell University). He had visiting appointments in the Hague (Asser Institute), Munich (twice, Max Planck Institute), Brno (Masarykova University), CEU Business School (Budapest), Hamburg (Max Planck Institute), Edinburgh (University of Edinburgh), London (British Institute of International and Comparative Law) and Bloomington, Indiana (Indiana University); and was senior fellow at the Center for International Governance Innovation in Canada. He was Eurojus legal counsel in the European Commission’s Representation in Hungary. He has more than 150 publications in English, French, German, Hungarian, Romanian and (in translation) in Croatian and Spanish. His pieces appeared, among others, in the following periodicals: Acta Juridica Hungarica, Arbitration International, American Review of International Arbitration, Columbia Journal of European Law, Európai Jog, European Competition Law Review, European Law Review, German Law Journal, International and Comparative Law Quarterly, IPRAX, Jogtudományi Közlöny, Journal of Private International Law, London Law Review, Maastricht Journal of European and Comparative Law, Magyar Jog, Nederlands Internationaal Privaatrecht, Osteuropa-Recht, Revista Română de Drept al Afacerilor, Revista Română de Drept European, Revue Internationale de Droit Comparé, Wirtschaft und Wettbewerb, World Competition Law and Economics Review, Zeitschrift für das Privatrecht der Europäischen Union. He is the co-editor of the ‘Verseny és Szabályozás’ (‘Competition and Regulation’) yearbook (Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Institute for Economics), the sole author of ten monographs written in English and Hungarian, including ‘EU and US Competition Law: Divided in Unity?’ (Ashgate Publishing, 2013), ‘Private international law in Hungary’ (Kluwer Law International, 2012) and ‘Competition law in Hungary’ (Kluwer Law International, 2016), and the editor of ‘The procedural aspects of the application of competition law’ published by Europa Law Publishing in Gröningen (the Netherlands). His works have been widely cited, for instance, in European Court of Justice cases (Case C-350/14 Florin Lazar & Case C-373/14, Toshiba Corporation v. Commission) and by Hungarian courts (Budapest Court in Case 22.G.41.893/2009/60. & Budapest Court of Appeals in Case 14.Gf.40.137/2010/5 & ÍH 2011.73).
