ABSTRACT As the International language, English plays the important role as the means of communication. Because of this reason, many students want to prepare it by learning English seriously since they are in the high school. Although they are motivated to learn English, they sometimes face language anxiety. From this background, the researcher is interested in researching the language anxiety they faced. This study is based on three researcher instruments. They are: Anxiety scale, interview, and observation. To analyze the data, the researcher uses descriptive statistics. The result of the study shows that the students language anxiety level under this study is high. It is caused by several problems, mainly because they can not catch the material in English easily. The students expect that their teacher will give speaking and presentation assignments long beforehand. The students also need to have good preparation in learning English, especially before they presentation.

ABSTRAK
Sebagai bahasa International, bahasa Inggris memegang peranan penting sebagai alat komunikasi. Karena alasan inilah banyak murid ingin mempersiapkannya dengan belajar bahasa Inggris sungguh-sungguh sejak mereka termotivasi untuk belajar bahasa Inggris, kadang-kadang mereka menghadapi kecemasan bahasa. Karena latar belakang ini, peneliti tertarik untuk meneliti kecemasan bahasa yang mereka hadapi. Penelitian ini berdasarkan pada tiga alat penelitian: skala kecemasan, wawancara, dan observasi. Untuk menganalisa data, peneliti menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian adalah bahwa tingkat kecemasan bahasa murid-murid adalah tinggi. Hal ini disebabkan oleh beberapa kendala, terutama karena mereka tidak dapat menangkap materi dalam bahasa Inggris dengan mudah. Murid-murid menghadapi kecemasan terutama ketika mereka menghadapi aktivitas berbicara. Mereka berharap bahwa guru mereka akan memberikan tugas berbicara dan presentasi jauh hari sebelumnya. Murid-murid juga membutuhkan persiapan yang bagus dalam belajar bahasa Inggris terutama sebelum presentasi.
