Kijkwijzer SYNOPSIS Ulrik is een vrij zachtaardige man. CREW Director Producer D.O.P. A SOMEWHAT GENTLE MAN – Hans Petter Moland DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT ‘We are born. We grow up. We lose our innocence. We do some stupid things. And then we die. As we near the end we try to regain some dignity before it’s too late. We seldom succeed. But we try. And look pathetic while trying. Is that embarrassing? Yes, but it´s quite embarrassing to be a human being. In an age of computer exactness, human error is the only thing messing up the order of things. A SOMEWHAT GENTLE MAN is a film about our painful shortcomings, a tribute to less than perfect sex, and a worldwide campaign against the people of petty exactness that rule the world.’ DIRECTORS BIOGRAPHY Hans Petter Moland has children and lives with a fellow director. He is born in Oslo, Norway, and grew up on a family farm. Hans Petter has directed 6 feature films. THE LAST LIEUTENANT (1993), ZERO KELVIN (1995), ABERDEEN (2000), THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY (2004), COMRADE PEDERSEN (2006) and A SOMEWHAT GENTLE MAN (2010) – and he holds a BFA in Film from Emerson College (1978). This is his second film in Competition at the Berlin International Film Festival. He participated with THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY in 2004. Hans Petter was an exchange student in Grosse Pointe, Michigan as a sixteen year old, and returned to the US to study film. His first passion in life was ski jumping. After a serious accident he had to give it up, but he remains one of Norway’s most avid ski jumping fans.
