(C) PROGRAM CONTENT Short description (100-200 words)17 The goal of the Chemistry BSc program is to transfer detailed theoretical and experimental knowledge in chemistry and basic knowledge in related fields (e.g. mathematics, physics, computer science) to students. Our students are to collect a total of 180 credits in course of their studies during 6 semesters. The program provides a solid background in theoretical and basic experimental chemistry for students intending to enter a master degree program and usable practical knowledge for students entering the job market just after the bachelor degree. The core chemical knowledge, the practical and laboratory skills correspond to the European standards described in the EuroBachelor degree.

Structure of the program18 The curriculum of the program consists of 25 credits basic scientific courses (mathematics, physics, computer science, economical management, quality and environmental knowledge). The core chemical part contains 118 credits. The minimal size of the specialized knowledge module is at least 18 credits, it contains semi-optional laboratory courses in chemistry and additional courses of mathematics, physics, computer science, biology and earth science. The BSc thesis reflects 10 credits scientific work. The students have a module of elective courses, where non-chemical courses can be chosen. The program contains six weeks internship. The list of the courses can be found on the homepage of the Institute of Chemistry given below.

Strength of program (100-200 words)19 The strength of the program is the combination of acquiring solid background in chemistry and obtaining a practical training for employment just after BSc. Having a BSc degree, the chemists • know the most important methodologies and their practical applications in a chemical laboratory • know the methods in presenting the results of their activity (both for scientific and nonscientific communities) using computers • are able to acquire new competences by means of further trainings • can realize and independently solve primarily practical problems • can operate scientific instruments • are able to make professional decisions in their field.

Career opportunities (100-200 words)20 After completing their studies and having their thesis accepted the students are awarded a BSc degree. If a student fulfilled the requirements to enlist for further studies, it is suggested to apply for a higher (MSc) degree. The BSc degree qualifies its holder to take up positions in the relevant fields in chemical production, academic and industrial scientific institutes, analytical laboratories in agrochemistry, food industry, plant protection, quality assurance.

Deadline for applications - February intake (DD/MM/YYYY)26 Admission requirements27 Students with completed secondary school education – having received the equivalent of General Certificate of Education (UK) or high school diploma (US), including the pre-university programme in countries where applicable – can apply for this programme. The application package should contain a short CV, copy of the degree certificate, transcript of results, and a language examination certificate. The certificates need not be translated to English, they are accepted in most of the European languages. Applicants having three Cambridge International Level A certificates, in chemistry, physics and mathematics at least with B grades (B,A,A*), are successful candidates to be enrolled without the oral entrance exam at Budapest.

Language requirement: The successful applicant must have a good command of English. Several kind of internationally respected certificates of English language is accepted at advanced level.

The coordinator will inform you if you might be enrolled without an entrance examination, or you have to take it. General information about studying in Hungary can be obtained from the faculty coordinator. The official application starts by completion of the registration form (https://registration.elte.hu/) and by the payment of the application fee. Within few weeks the applicant will be informed, if he/she is enrolled due to the high quality of the previous studies, if he/she needs to take the entrance exam in Budapest, or the application is declined. In the case an entrance examination, the details of the oral

exam in Budapest will be arranged by emails.
