Syllabus Motivation Management (3cps) Subject overview: This course is discussing theories, approach to give motivation on organization, developing knowledge that correlated with the importance of staff synergy on organization. By this, students will have knowledge on practical perspective in motivation and study various motivation theories. Besides that, students are able to create motivation climate and understand various motivation research, model and its composition. Subject Objectives 1. Students understand 10 motivation theories that can be use for motivating staff. 2. Students have high motivation to be achievers, wide network and independent. 3. Assignments 1. Assignment 1: Quotations a. Quoting and making parameter of “The role of Working Motivation towards Increasing Staff Performance”. b. Quoting research result which is correlated with motivation for 5 titles (no more/less), point for each title is maximum 20 point. c. Materials are from 3 thesis and 2 journals. d. Grading: originality, theme matching, clipped and placed on transparent folder. e. Form of quotations: HVS quarto paper, unbound, only clipped and placed on transparent folder. f. List of quotations: front page, introduction, table of content, 5 quotations, analysis (influenced factors/most searched), literature review. g. Content of quotations: title, author, source, year, motivation theory that is used, researched variable, research instrument, research result, conclusion. h. Source of quotations: written as footnote (author, title, publisher, city, year), every quotations are started with new page. i. Submission: 5th meeting. 2. Assignment 2: Activity Proposal of Staff Motivation in A Company/Research Proposal a. Theme: “Proposal of Activity Motivation for Increasing Staff Performance in An Organization” b. Contents: - Front page: title page, introduction, table of contents. - Contents: introduction, study background, problem formulation, problem aims, theoretical basis, literature review, proposal program of increasing staff motivation, research methodology. - Final: list of reference, appendix of questionnaire, notes from the company. Notes: materials can be taken from the first assignment. c. Writing guidelines: two-space typed, HVS quarto paper, font Times New Roman 12, minimum 15 pages (excluded front page, title page, introduction and table of contents), also following the writing guidelines (e.g., clear source of quotations, there is analysis on variable, clear conclusion). d. Submission: 12th meeting. e. Notes: Submission of this assignment only during the assigned date. Submission later than the due date will be exempted. Plagiarism half or entire paper also will be exempted.
3. Assignment 3: Implementation of Staff Motivation Activity a. Choose a company as research object. b. Ask permission for research practice. c. Conduct data collecting through questionnaire or question list. d. Conduct research result analysis. e. Write down the report in MsWord form. 1. Introduction 2. Theoretical Basis and Literature Review 3. Research Methodology 4. Discussion 5. Conclusion and Suggestion f. Make a presentation of research result with power point. g. Submit the presentation of research result on 19th meeting. 4. Assignment 4: Result Presentation a. Assignment submission on 24th meeting. b. Conduct presentation on 24th to 27th meeting. c. Component that will be evaluated: - Quality of research/data - Ability in delivering the presentation - Ability on discussion d. Presentation assignment is submitted on power point form, printed and distributed to all class members individually. It is also submitted to the lecture for grading/evaluation. Materials printed 2 frames per page only. Course Method The course method is as followed: 1. Active discussion: discussed about the subject according to the syllabus, all the students are treated as adults and able to study individually, so they understand the entire subject on every meeting. 2. Participation: Students are actively involved for asking or answering on discussed lecture. 3. Seminar: Students are allowing to voluntary active as a speaker or spokesperson according to the course subject that has been discussed by listing their names first on the early meeting. 4. Individual Assignment: Tasks are decided on early meeting and submitted based on scheduled. Requirement and subject pre-requisites
Students bring equipment as followed: 1. Proper stationary 2. Book: main reference, module of subject Students are fulfilled requirement as followed: 1. Punctual, lateness tolerance is 15 minutes. 2. Not wearing sandals or t-shirts. For female students, students are not allowed to show their aurat. If not following this rule, students are not allowed to join the class. 3. Ready to follow the class with case method: reading the case and solve the problem. 4. Ready to take class: a. Physically and mentally ready to follow the class, proper dress, discipline and punctual, lateness tolerance maximum is 15 minutes. b. Submitting post-card (maximum on second meeting), on the front page on stamp posted picture size 3x4cm, black/white, colour, or posed picture; giving information of student number, full name, nick name, date of birth, previous High School name and major, parents name, parents address, address in Yogyakarta, expected grade, previous GPA, aims in taking this class. 5. Lecture will not allowing re-take/re-sit test to students, unless: 1) sick and need to take bed rest in hospital, 2) nuclear family (parents, sister/brother) pass away. 6. Others are based upon request/discussion between student and lecture. Consultation Class meeting is based on schedule and will be cancelled if there is prior notice. a.
