RADDES BOSZANGER OP DE MAASVLAKTE IN OCTOBER 1981 RADDE'S WARBLER ON DE MAASVLAKTE IN OCTOBER 198 1 Uc koude oostelijke lucht die op 17 october 1931 over Nederland werd aangevoerd, zorbde in de nacht van 17 op 18 octoher voor mistvormins; hoven het nog warme water van de Noordzee . Op 1 8 october zagen wi j' S ochtends op liet westel ij k gedeelte van De h1aasvlakte (Zlí) veel Goud}zaantjes ;~eaulus r=_ainvallen . Na een goede treknacht waren zij kennelijk boven zee door de mist verrast . (?m omstreeks 1 7 :011 zagen wij in gezelschap van Ronald van den Berg, I :ugène van der Burg, Arie de Knij ff, Just Palm en Ed van Wijk vanuit het Koffiehuis tilaasvlakte in een van de hiernaast staande populiertjes een vreemde :'hyll.oscr p s achtige vogel . Dp grond van onder andere de lange roomkleurige wcnkhrauwstreep meenden wij dat het geen Fitis F . tro~I+i'l.lis of Tjiftjaf P. ~•o1.2Ubz:Ea kon zijn . Fiij liet zich me t 10 x 4(.)-kijkers goed door de ruiten waarnemen . Op .~! . lU m afstand bewvog de vogel zich rustig door de kale takken . 11ij leek groter en donkerder dan een Fitis of Ti iftjaf . De roonulleurige wenkbrauwstreep en de lichte poten deden ons aan een,\oordse Roszanger ?_ . bor=F-i :s denken . Ilit idee werd versterkt omdat hij bepaalde lichtorrstandigheden een vage vleukelstreep te zien was . Deze werd gevormd door de enigszins verbleekte toppen van de grote vleugeldekveren . t1e hovendelen waren donker nliifhruin, de kin en kcel bijna wit en ongestreept, de horst e n de huik roonilclcurig, de flattken wann bruinachtig en de anaalstreek en de onderstaartdekveren zeemkleurig met een oranie tint en over dc horst : liep een onduidelijke vlekkerige hand . Na c . 15' verdween de vogel tussen de helm van het aangren_ende talud . Chndat t,ij vermoedden dat liet een hijzondere soort was, waarschuwden wij telefonisch andere vogelaars . Na enige tijd kwam de voge .l weer te voorscltijn en konden wij hem buiten, bij het,olkt en windstil weer, van dichthii bekijken . Hij verdween echter herhaaldeljl. tussen de helm en was dan niet aE moeilijk te =ien . De vogel verwijderde zich soms c . 1 0 m van de populiertjes om na verloop van tijd steeds weer terug te keren . Hoewel wij aan do mogelijkheid van een Raddes Aoszanger F . seh m aí dachten, kreeg deze gedaihte pas in dc loop van de midJag een serieus karakter toen wii duideliik de _wartae}tti~e _iirnnd van Je kruin en de zwartachtige oogstreep waarnamen . Ook de relatief korte vleugels, de stevige en brede snavel met de Iichte ondersnavel en de dikke Iroten met de lange krachtige tenen kregen pas in de loop van de middag de aandacht welke ze verdienden . fle koPtekening, de stevige en brede snavel en do dikke poten gaven de vogel een 'krachtig' uiterIiik dat duidelijk verschilde van de ons bekende :h.~ los~a~i . Wij hebben hem één maal een vrij luid en scherp 'tsjuk tsiuk' horen roepen . Dit had wel iets weg van de roep van een Alerel ~` rr~ï, : : nrer 'a . In de loop van de middag voegden zich enige 10-tallen vogelaars hij ons met wie tsij de vogel tot het invallen van de duisternis hebben waargenomen . Aan liet eind van de middag - na bestudering van Johns Wallace (198 0 ), Slings (1979), Svensson (19 7 S ) en 45'illiam5on (79 6 7) - waren wij ervan overtuigd dat het een Raddes Boszanger was . Om omstreeks 1-1 :00 dook een Pallas' 13oszangcr L pror e guZus hij llet koffiehuis o17 . Deze bl .eef gedurende de rest van de middag in de omgeving . De volgende dag (19 octoher) werd dc Raddes niet teruggevonden . De Pallas' was echter nog wel aanwezig maar nu in ge_eIschap van twee filadkoninkjes P . inormczt~s . 'v"an de Raddes zijn een aantal foto's gemaakt . Beschrijving Jroutte, o .,:. . Vogel was duidelijk groter Jan Gotulhaantjc ( waarmee hij direct kon worden vergeleken) . Projectic van grote stagisennen was ongeveer helft vun lengte van zichthare dedeelte van kleine slagpennen, ongeveer zoals bij Tjiftja' . Staart leek, vooral in vlucht, lang (rrrJgeliik t.ea•d dit effect mede veroorzaakt door relatief korte vleugels) . Oog leek niet groot (dit in tcgenstelling tot .. ;i t 10J

Van 12 tot en met 1 1 novemher w :rs een exeml,laar aanwezig ol) de Ala:rs hij Ilerten (L) en in de zelfde periode werd écn sezicn op de Schelde bij Oudenaarde (O1' ) . Van 2b december t.ot het eind van het jaar verbleef een volwassen vogel op het Nnst.erdam-Rijnicanaal hij IYijk hij Duurstede (U ) . Verder werd een IJsduiker gezien bij de Brouwersclam (Z/wH) op 15 december . 0p merkelijk was een Noordse St .ormvogel/Fulmar F ;rlmrzr,is Jlaci„Zic in liet I .eersumse Veld (l1) op 11 octoher . Een dode Kuhls l'ijltitorntvogc•i/Corv's Shearwater jalonectris dz:omedea (in goede staat) werd gevonden up het strand bij Noordwijk (ZH) op 15 november . l:nkele dagen later werd een exemplaar dood gevonden aan de Vlaamse kust . Een StormvogeItje/Storm i'etrel tiU-1robates p . ;agíc .s werd gemeld bij de Hondsbosse Zeewering (Nl{) op 141 october . Bij de Brouwersdam bevond zich op 22 november een Kui[aalscholver/Shag Phalacroeorax cxris6otelis en op 25 novcmbor werd "cén dood gevonden op [le jlaasvlakte (ZH) . Bij de Zuidpier van IJmuiden (N11) liet zich een exemplaar goed bekijken van 21 december tot liet eind van het jaar . De vogel was geringd en met behulp van een telescoop kon het ringnummer worden afgelezerr ; hij bleek afkomstif, te zijn uit Groot-Brittamnië .

Op Vlieland (F) werd op 5 october een Raddes Boszanger/Racide's ia'arhler -, gevangen maar de vogel raakte gewond en werd vervolgens verzameld ; hij bevindt zich nu in de collectie van het Z o6logisch ~htsernn te Amsterdam ( VH) . Beter ver g ing Itet een ander exemplaar dat door 10-talic•n belangstellenden werd bekeken op De ~laasvlakte op 18 october . Kleine Vliegenvangers/Red-breasted F ly'catchers 'i adu :a rarva werden onder meer gezien op S c hiermonnikoog op 1 september, hij Katwijk aan Zee op 5 september, op Kornwerderzand op 3 october en op ' I'ersrhellink van 3 tot en mct 5 octohcr . Op 6 november werd tussen een groep Boomkruipers/Short taed Treecreepers ï'erthia brachydactyla een Taigaboonkruiper/Treecreeper i; . familiarís gedetermineerd bij Castricnn . Opmerkelijk waren drie ncstvondsten van de Buidelmees/pendu]ine Tit Remr,'z nertd :.,?in s in Friesland . Twee nesten waren niet voltooid maar in het derde waren jongen grootgebracht . Op 5 september werd een Buidelmees gevangen bij blakkutn ( C) terw iji op die dag een andere werd waargenomen op 1'lieland . In de zelfde provincie werden in september nog twee anderc gevangen . Twee exemplaren werden gezien in de :14ti-duinen op 7 7 september en hii Lijsden (L) verbleven van -2 9 augustus tot en met 1 7 october een tot twee indiviJuen .
