ABSTRAK Lia Agustina. 2015. Penyebab Kecemasan Siswa saat Membaca di MA Sullamul Ulum Kecamatan Panyipatan Kabupaten Tanah Laut. Skripsi. Jurusan Bahasa Inggris. Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Keguruan. Pembimbing: Dr. Ridha Fadillah, M. Ed. Katakunci: Sebab, Kecemasan Siswa, Membaca. Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan penyebab kecemasan siswa saat membaca nyaring di MA Sullamul Ulum Kecamatan Panyipatan Kabupaten tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Ada dua rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini, yaitu: mengapa siswa merasa cemas saat membaca,dan bagaimana kecemasan dapat mempengaruhi siswa saat membaca. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah 24 siswa kelas XI MA Sullamul Ulum Panyipatan. Objek penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kecemasan siswa saat membaca. Untuk pengumpulkan data penulis menggunakan observasi di dalam kelas dan wawancara. Data dalam penelitian ini diproses menjadi tiga tahap, yaitu: pengeditan, klasifikasi, dan interpretasi. Kemudian, seluruh data tersebut di analisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Kebanyakan dari siswa MA Sullamul ulum merasa cemas saat membaca, dan kecemasan mereka termasuk dalam kategori “State”. Kecemasan mereka timbul diakibatkan beberapa masalah seperti, salah dalam mengucapkan kata-kata, keterbatsan dalam kosakata, dan kurang memahami teks bacaan.
