Életrajz • 1944-ben született Békéscsabán
• 1968-ban kapott orvosi diplomát a Szegedi Orvostudományi Egyetem Általános Orvosi Karán
• 1972-ben aneszteziológia és intenzív terápia szakorvosi képesítést szerzett.
Életrajz • 1984-ben védte meg a " Szteránvázas izomreláxansok hatása a keringésre" című kandidátusi értekezését. • 1999-ben habilitált a Szegedi Orvostudományi Egyetemen.
• 1969-től dolgozott az Orvostovábbképző Intézetben, ahol 1979-ben a Sebészeti Klinika Intenzív Osztályának vezetője lett, • 1987-ben egyetemi docensi, 1999-ben egyetemi tanári kinevezést kapott.
• 1995-től megbízott, 1999-től kinevezett igazgatója volt a HIETE Aneszteziológiai és Intenzív Terápiás Intézetének
• 2002-2010-ig, nyugdíjba vonulásáig a Szegedi Tudományegyetem Aneszteziológiai és Intenzív Terápiás Intézetének igazgatója
• A Magyar Aneszteziológiai és Intenzív Terápiás Társaság elnöke 2002-2010-ig, majd előző elnökként a Társaság elnökségének tagja • Az Országos Aneszteziológiai Intézetnek 1996-tól igazgatóhelyettese, 2002-től - az Intézet megszünéséig - igazgatója • 1994-2006 között az Aneszteziológia és Intenzív Terápia című szakfolyóirat főszerkesztője • Az Aneszteziológiai és Intenzív Terápiás Szakmai Kollégium tagja, korábban titkára

– UEMS Aneszteziológiai és Intenzív Terápiás Szakcsoportjának aktív tagja 2001-től – az Európai Aneszteziológiai Kül Társaságok Szövetsége elnökségének tagjaként tevékenykedett 2002 óta – az ESA betegbiztonsággal és minőségbiztosítással foglalkozó albizottságának egyik vezetője
