PREFACE
South East Asian Conference on Mathematics and Its Applications or abbreviated SEACMA is a seminar which organized by the Department of Mathematics, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya. To reach the world class research university, the seminar was upgraded its network to an international conference which previously only the national level and it is called the Seminar Nasional Matematika. SEACMA was held on Saturday, November 6th 2010, at Gedung Pasca Sarjana, ITS Surabaya with the theme "Mathematics for All".
The aim of the seminar is to create a forum for exchange of information and is intended to be the media of cooperation among researchers, academia, industry practitioners and observers of mathematics. Through interactive communication from different perspectives, it is expected to be emerged a lot of ideas and constructive collaboration.
The proceeding presented 58 scientific papers which have passed the Steering Committee, whose members come from universities. Contributors are coming from various research institutes and academia.
Finally, the committee would like to thank to all speakers, presenters, participants and all those involved directly or indirectly in the SEACMA.

Abstract. This paper describes a learning process for visualizing a complex function with MATLAB. The research is a result of a lecture given for undergraduate students in Mathematics Departement of Science and Mathematics Faculty at the Satya Wacana Christian University 2010. Complex function must be expressed into real part and an imaginary part in order to visualize it. We take some complex functions which are usually can also be found easily in real 2

numbers. These are a quadratic function ( z ), a cubic function ( z ), an exponential function and trigonometric functions such as sin(z) and cos (z) and some their variations. By keeping the radius constant for any complex number in the complex plane, one may draw the domain of z in a complex plane and its image to an other complex plane. The angle is then kept to be constant to get a mapping curve based on the given function. Finally both parameters are varied to have general figures. We also illustrate a real part and an imaginary part of the function to be presented as a surface of two variables (x,y). Keywords: complex function, polar coordinate, analytic, conformal mapping
