The Oparno arch bridge is situated on the D8 motorway from Prague to Dresden in a scenic hilly landscape in the preserved natural area called “České Středohoří”. Due to its location, special requirements and limitations had to be met during construction of the bridge. Each of two parallel, almost identical, bridges supports two lanes of the motorway. The length of the bridge is about 275 m and the span of arches is 135 m. After completion, the bridge will have the second longest span of the concrete arch in the Czech Republic. A beautiful countryside along the bridge was one of the reasons why an arch bridge was chosen for erection. The aim was to build a structure which is elegant,

ÚVOD Most přes Oparenské údolí leží na dálnici D8 spojující Prahu a Drážďany v malebné kopcovité krajině vulkanického původu, která je součástí Chráněné krajinné oblasti České Středohoří. Vzhledem k jeho umístění bylo nutné respektovat zvláštní požadavky a omezení pro výstavbu mostu. Každý ze dvou téměř identických rovnoběžných mostů převádí dva jízdní pruhy dálnice. Délka mostu je cca 275 m a rozpětí oblouků je 135 m. Po dokončení bude mít tento most druhé největší rozpětí betonového oblouku v České republice. Nádherná krajina v okolí mostu byla jedním z důvodů pro volbu návrhu obloukového mostu. Cílem bylo postavit konstrukci, která je elegantní, zapadá citlivě do krajiny, je trvanlivá s minimální údržbou a odpovídá požadavkům na dlouhodobě udržitelný rozvoj.

Založení mostu Oblouk i pilíře jsou založeny na plošných základech umístěných ve strmých svazích údolí, které spočívají na zvětralých skalních vrstvách rul a pískovců v hloubce 3 až 5 m pod povrchem terénu. Stupňovité patky pod dvojicí oblouků jsou

NÁVRH MOSTU Základní koncept mostu byl připraven již v roce 1998, kdy se začala plánovat výstavba dálnice. Kvůli zdržení způsobenému výkupem pozemků a jednáními spojenými se stavebním povolením nemohla výstavba být započata dříve než v roce 2008. Během těchto 10 let se dále vyvinula technologie betonových konstrukcí, a bylo proto možné optimalizovat původní návrh mostu. Ve vzájemné spolupráci projektanta a dodavatele bylo navrženo použití vyšší pevnostní třídy betonu pro oblouk, mostovku i pilíře. To vedlo k značným úsporám objemů betonu a umožnilo navrhnout konstrukci lehčí a trvanlivější. Navržené a realizované změny vedly k úspoře množství cementu a přispěly k energetickým úsporám a redukci emisí kysličníku uhličitého. Fig. 4 Movable scaffolding system Obr. 4 Výsuvná skruž

than in 2008. During the ten years, the technology of concrete developed and it was possible to optimize an original design. In co-operation with the consultant and the contractor, higher strength classes of concrete were used for the arch as well as for the deck and piers. It resulted in substantial savings of volumes of concrete and made the structure lighter and even more durable. The proposed and then realized changes led to savings in cement consumption and thus contributed to the savings of energy and reduction of emissions of carbon dioxide.

Piers and abutments Standard abutments with hung up wing walls have rounded edges and slope claddings from a local quarry. Both piers on the valley slopes and piers above the arch are designed as walls with dimensions 5.5 x 1.1 m (0.8 m above the arch), and the outside edges are chamfered, and opening under the superstructure is provided. Pot bearings are installed on the last side piers and on abutments, while all other piers are fixed to the superstructure with hinges. The height of piers varies from 10 to 31 m, piers above the arch are up to 17 m high.

Both arch and pier foundations are designed in the form of spread footings located in steep valley slopes, where they rest on the weathered rock layers of gneiss or sandstone in the depth of 3 – 5 m under the ground level. Stepped arch foundations are loaded by high vertical and horizontal forces, therefore, the foundation area is about 12 – 14 m long and 30 m wide. The foundations of piers between the abutments and the arch footings are provided with prestressed ground anchors to stand up to the uplift due to temporary cable stays.

The arch and the deck A reinforced arch made of concrete class C45/55 has a variable thickness of 1.3 to 2.4 m and a width of 7 m, and two ribs connected by the upper slab and inclined faces. The axis of the arch is straight, while the bridge alignment is slightly curved; the difference is up to ±0.35 m. Each longitudinally prestressed bridge deck has two beams 1.2 m deep and is 14.3 m wide. BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION The construction was significantly influenced by local conditions. In the preserved natural area, the site was limited to a very narrow space, covering practically only the width of the bridge. No activities and access were allowed under the arch. The access to arch footings was very limited. The construction had to be divided into two almost independent sites located at individual ends of the bridge. The requirements to build the bridge symmetrically required two sets of equipment for both the arch construction and for the bridge deck construction, which increased the cost of the bridge. Piers and abutments The construction started with the arch foundations and with the highest piers located above the arch footings. They were used as a support for temporary stays supporting the arch during its construction. The piers were cast in self-climbing formwork designed by PERI, which made it possible to build the piers rather quickly in segments 3.6 m high. The formwork

zatíženy svislými i vodorovnými silami, proto má základová plocha délku cca 12 až 14 m a šířku 30 m. Základy pilířů mezi opěrami a patkami oblouku jsou opatřeny předpjatými zemními kotvami, které eliminují síly vyvolané tahem dočasných závěsů oblouku. Pilíře a opěry Standardní opěry se zavěšenými křídly mají zaoblené hrany a kamenné obklady z místních lomů. Oba pilíře ve svazích údolí a pilíře nad obloukem jsou stěnové a mají rozměry příčného řezu 5,5 x 1,1 m (0,8 m nad obloukem), vnější hrany jsou zkoseny a nahoře pod mostovkou jsou opatřeny otvorem. Hrncová ložiska jsou instalována na posledních pilířích a na opěrách, zatímco na ostatních pilířích je mostovka připojena k pilířům klouby. Výška pilířů se pohybuje od 10 do 31 m, pilíře nad obloukem jsou vysoké nejvýše 17 m.

Vozík je vybaven hydraulickými systémy, které umožňují jeho automatický přesun do nové polohy bez nutnosti využití jeřábů nebo jiných zařízení. Zvláštní pozornost byla věnována návrhu betonové směsi. Bylo důležité dosáhnout vysokou kvalitu betonového povrchu a jeho trvanlivost a bylo nutné betonovat lamely v různém sklonu. Betonáž spodních lamel ve velkém sklonu vyžadovala používat i horní bednění vozíku. Objem betonu jednotlivých segmentů je značný, hydratační teplo by mohlo vést k vysokým teplotám v jádru lamel. Aby se vysoká teplota omezila a zároveň aby se redukoval teplotní gradient mezi jádrem a povrchem průřezu lamel, byl navržen chladicí systém pro beton v jádru lamel. Vlastnosti čerstvého betonu, technologie betonáže včetně chladicího systému byly ověřeny na velkorozměrových modelech postavených na staveništi. Deska mostu

Oblouk a mostovka Vyztužený oblouk z betonu třídy C45/55 má proměnnou výšku příčného řezu 1,3 m až 2,4 m a šířku 7 m, má dvě žebra spojená horní deskou a skloněné boční plochy. Osa oblouku je v půdorysu přímá, zatímco most je půdorysně lehce zakřivený. Rozdíl nepřesahuje ±0,35 m. Každá předpjatá mostovka má dva hlavní nosníky o výšce 1,2 m a šířku 14,3 m. VÝSTAVBA MOSTU Výstavba mostu byla významně ovlivněna místními podmínkami. Staveniště v chráněné krajinné oblasti bylo omezeno na velmi úzký prostor pokrývající prakticky pouze šířku mostu. Žádné stavební činnosti ani přístup nebyly povoleny pod obloukem. Přístup k patkám oblouku byl velmi omezen. Stavba byla rozdělena na dvě téměř nezávislá pracoviště umístěná u konců mostu. Požadavek stavět most symetricky vedl k nutnosti pořídit dvě technologická vybavení pro výstavbu oblouku i mostovky. To vedlo ke zvýšení nákladů na most. Pilíře a opěry Výstavba byla zahájena základy oblouku a nejvyššími pilíři umístěnými na patkách oblouku. Ty sloužily jako podpora pro dočasné závěsy podporující oblouk během výstavby. Pilíře byly betonovány do samošplhacího bednění navrženého firmou PERI, které umožnilo jejich rychlou výstavbu v dílech vysokých 3,6 m. Bednění pilířů i ostatních konstrukcí bylo ze dřeva, aby poskytovalo vhodný architektonický vzhled povrchu betonu. Po odbednění byl beton zakryt PE fólií, aby se omezilo rychlé vysychání betonu a vyloučily se tak možné trhliny. Oblouk mostu Oblouk s příčným řezem tvaru obráceného U je z betonu třídy C45/55, což umožnilo najít vhodný kompromis mezi jeho tíhou a únosností. Výztužné pruty profilu až 40 mm byly použity v dolních lamelách oblouku. Metoda letmé betonáže vyžadovala vyvinout speciální betonážní vozíky. Délka jednotlivých betonovaných lamel se pohybovala do 5,6 m. Jedna polovina oblouku je složena ze 14 lamel. Samočinně se pohybující betonážní vozík byl vyvinut firmami PERI a STRUKTURAS. Schéma vozíku je uvedeno na obr. 3. Hlavní nosnou částí vozíku jsou podélné nosníky umístěné podél betonového oblouku, spojené párem příčníků podporovaných na již hotové části oblouku. Několik plošin je využito jednak pro montáž výztuže, pro přístup k bednění a pro ošetřování betonu po posunu vozíku do příští betonovací polohy.

Mostní desku tvoří spojitý nosník o rozpětích 17,5 až 24 m. Průřez má tvar dvojitého T. Po vyhodnocení několika možných postupů výstavby bylo rozhodnuto použít posuvnou skruž s horní nosnou konstrukcí, kde dva hlavní plnostěnné ocelové nosníky byly umístěny nad betonovou deskou. Ty byly podepřeny na speciálních ocelových stoličkách připnutým k definitivním pilířům. Hlavní nosníky skruže byly na koncích opatřeny dlouhými ocelovými konzolami umožňujícími přesun skruže do dalšího pole. Bednění bylo zavěšeno na příčných rámech podepřených hlavními podélnými nosníky.

After to provide the convenient architectural appearance of the completion of individual activities, the equipment was moved concrete surface. Monitoring Arch of the bridge The arch with the cross-section of an inverted U-shape is made of concrete class C45/55, which allowed for finding a good balance between the weight and load-carrying capacity. The reinforcing bars, 40 mm in diameter, were used in the lower parts of the arch. A cantilever casting method of the arch required the development of special form travelers for segmental construction. The length of segments varied up to the length of 5.6 m. One half of the arch is composed of 14 segments. The self-moving form traveller for the arch construction was developed by PERI and STRUKTURAS. The schematic view is plotted in Fig. 3. The main parts of the traveler are the longitudinal beams beside the concrete arch, which are connected by a pair of cross-beams supported on the already completed arch segment. Several platforms are used for reinforcement assembly, for access to the formwork and for curing of concrete after moving of the traveller to the next casting position. The traveller is equipped by hydraulic systems, which allow for an automatic movement into a new position without the necessity of using cranes or other devices. Special attention had to be paid to the concrete mix design. It was important to reach an excellent quality of the concrete surface durability, and it was necessary to cast segments in different inclinations. The casting of lower segments with steeper slopes required using a top formwork of the form traveller. The arch segments represent a significant volume of concrete where hydration heat would lead to high temperatures in their core. In order to reduce the absolute temperatures in the cores of individual segments and to minimize temperature gradients between the core and the surface, a cooling system of concrete in the core of segments was developed and applied. The properties of fresh concrete and the casting technology including a cooling system were verified on large scale models built on the site. Bridge deck

With respect to challenging construction method the design and structural analysis of this arch bridge was quite extensive and complicated. Diagnostic monitoring for measurement of strains and thermal fields in particular sections and surveying methods for setting and checking of executed structural shapes were proposed for continuous observation of the structures in progressing stages of construction process. For the left bridge, which was the first to be built, a detail monitoring of the arch was provided in 13 sections in total – at the footings, at the crown, under all the piers of the deck and between them. For the right bridge a supervisory monitoring was provided only in a reduced extent. For the strain measurement 80 embedded vibrating strain gauges with thermal sensors were used. In each measured section there are 4 gauges deployed. In the reference bridge section there is also a set of thermal sensors located both across the arch and at the relevant deck section. The data are read as requested in the given schedule by the logger and transmitted daily through the integrated GSM module to the Client offices. All measured strains and temperatures together with surveying data for the outlines of structural segments are used as one of basic sources for consecutive modifications of geometry during the construction process and for continuous evaluation of stresses in particular sections. The installed measurement set will be also used for monitoring of stresses during the bridge load test. Considering long-time aspects we can obtain valuable data about changes in behaviour of the arch structure in context of concrete shrinking and creeping. CONCLUSIONS The bridge over the Oparno valley is a modern bridge which represents an aesthetic and durable structure with minimum details requiring maintenance. The construction process was developed in such a way, which minimizes the interference of the building activities with an environment in the preserved natural area. Special attention was paid to the durability of the bridge and the reduction of the amount of materials used. Application of concrete of a higher strength led to the reduction of the self-weight of the bridge and additional savings of steel reinforcement. The design and execution teams believe that the arch bridge will be a landmark, satisfying the conditions of economy, aesthetics and durability in the long-term , and that it will successfully serve the public for the next hundred years.

The bridge deck is a continuous girder with spans in a range from 17.5 to 24 m. The cross-section has a double T shape. After evaluation of several alternatives of construction, it was decided to use an overhang movable scaffolding system (MSS), with two main top steel beams located above the bridge deck. The main steel beams are supported on the definitive piers using a special steel supporting element. The longitudinal main steel beams are at the end provided with long cantilevers allowing for moving the MSS into the next casting position. The CONSUMPTION OF MATERIALS AND COST formwork is suspended on the transverse frames supported on the main longitudinal beams. TOTAL PER 1 M2 CONCRETE (IN TOTAL)

Sequence of construction After the completion of foundations and piers outside the bridge arch, the bridge deck was built from both ends of the bridge. Simultaneously, the arch was cast from the footings. The three spans which are supported on piers outside the arch form a tie and allow for erection of the temporary pylon, which was used for temporary suspension of the erected arch. After closing the arch, a part of the stays could be removed and the MSS could be used for casting of the bridge deck above the arch. The casting procedure has to be symmetrical so that 010

Postup výstavby

lu s geodetickým monitorováním tvaru konstrukce jedním z podkladů pro průběžné geometrické korekce v průběhu výstavby a pro vyhodnocování průběžného namáhání jednotlivých průřezů. Nainstalovaná měřící sestava bude rovněž sloužit ke sledování napětí při zatěžovací zkoušce mostu. Z dlouhodobého hlediska může poskytnout cenné údaje o změnách chování obloukové konstrukce v souvislosti se smrštěním a dotvarováním betonu.

Po dokončení základů a pilířů mimo oblouk byla postavena deska mostu na obou koncích mostu. Současně se začalo s betonáží oblouku od patek. Tři pole desky mostu podepřené na pilířích mimo oblouk tvořily táhlo a umožnily tak výstavbu dočasného pylonu, který sloužil pro zavěšení budovaného oblouku. Po uzavření oblouku mohla být část závěsů odstraněna a horní skruž mohla být použita pro betonáž desky mostu nad obloukem. Betonáž musela probíhat symetricky, aby se vyloučilo nadměrné namáhání oblouku. Po dokončení jednotlivých ZÁVĚR operací se zařízení přesouvala na druhý most. Most přes Oparenské údolí je moderní most, který představuje estetickou a trvanlivou konstrukci s omezeným počtem detaiMonitoring lů vyžadujících údržbu.
