ARTAWAN Serambi Indonesia, Bedu Saini (38), sempat menjepretkan kamera digitalnya, Nikon D 100, sebanyak 28 kali sebelum pulang ke rumah untuk menyelamatkan keluarga beberapa saat setelah tsunami melanda kawasan Simpang Lima, Banda Aceh, 26 Desember 2004.
Kamera digital Nikon D 100 yang semula dititipkan di sebuah toko dan tak pernah dipikirkan lagi, Kamis 13 Januari 2005 ditemukan, dan Bedu pun memperoleh kembali harta yang paling berharga, termasuk hasil jepretan yang sangat langka. Hari itu pula Redaksi Serambi Indonesia menghubungi Redaksi Kompas untuk memberi tahu adanya
foto-foto super-eksklusif hasil bidikan Bedu Saini untuk bisa dipublikasikan agar diketahui sidang pembaca betapa ganasnya tsunami. Bedu sendiri kehilangan dua anggota keluarga. Sebagian hasil jepretan Bedu, telah ditampilkan di halaman 35 Kompas edisi Sabtu 15 Januari 2005. Kini ditampilkan lagi beberapa sisanya.

2004 Earthquake-tsunami (Media) None of the media in Indonesia, including Kompas, had warned of tsunami Aceh. From 26 December 2002 to 25 December 2004, the word ‘tsunami’ only found in 39 article in Kompas. There was no article in Kompas had connected keyword “tsunami” with “Aceh.” Arif, 2015
