The Research Projekt
The aim of this dissertation is a presentation-demonstration characteristic features and phenomena of the late-modern poesy, based on the analysis of József Attila’s and Szabó Lőrinc’s texts from the nineteen-thirties. This period – which brings about the most historic and theoretic discourses in the poetry – I studied in the context of the presence/appearance of the “me” and the “other one” (in my interpretation “the prevailing other”: the landscape, the nature, the milieu etc.) in the poems, but at the same time my aim is not the overall examination of the thematic and rhetoric self-constructions and mutual relations of the two authors oeuvre in the given epoch.
The Corpus and the Methods of the Research
The most important question is: How can the methods of the self-interpretations – built round different syllabi – be realized poetic-wise? In the following I explicate the landscape and space poetry, the body poetics and the phenomenon rhetoric disintegration and resolution of the “self/me” in detail – based on the works of the two authors, and I also point at those similarities and parallel experiences, joining points, which can be found inside of the oeuvre of the authors wandering on contrary roads. The significant artworks of the thirties could be considered as artworks of an era- and concept change in the thirties poem speech, self-conception, view, structure, psychologism and modality. Why is drawing a parallel between the 2
works of the two authors valid? They both are – in contempt of their different personality – participants of the process called function change or era change in the history of the poetry (paradigm shift by me), that happened in our poetry in the turn of the twenties and thirties.
The Results of the Research
The content of this dissertation follows not simply a chronologic order, but represents the versions of the confrontation with “the prevailing other” in its chapters, which versions yield different thematic and poetic processes. In the following I analyse József Attila’s and Szabó Lőrinc’s poetry, but not the intertextual intersections I am trying to introduce, but a demonstration the poetic and expressive points of contact: the space and landscape poetry, the body poetics, the thematic and rhetoric appearance and disintegration of the “self/me” stand in the centre of my studies and questions. In the course of the text analysis I utilize and develop projects and results of several disciplines: philosophy, theory of mediality, study of literature and art. These results could be different in the different texts, because I tried to find the most typical theoretical base in all cases – for each text. The Appendix – which is loosely connected with the chain of my work’s main ideas – redefines József Attila’s and Szabó Lőrinc’s poetry from the contemporary literature’s point of view and „takes a snapshot” of the traditions with the analysis Lövétei Lázár László’s and Kukorelly Endre’s poems.
