RINGKASAN Kelapa merupakan komoditas pertanian unggulan di Sulawesi Utara, namun selalu terganggu oleh belalang Sexava spp. (Orthoptera: Tettigonidae) yang menjadi hama utama sejak tahun 1890 sampai sekarang. Beberapa usaha pengendalian telah dilakukan namun hasilnya belum optimal. Pengendalian hayati belalang Sexava spp. masih terbatas pada stadia telur dengan menggunakan parasitoid Leefmansia bicolor dan Doirania leefmansi sedangkan terhadap stadia nimfa dan imago belum pernah dilakukan. Eksplosi belalang merah (Nomadacris septemfasciata) di Mauritius berhasil dikendalikan dengan introduksi burung Mynah (Acridotheres tritis) dari India pada tahun 1762. Pengendalian tersebut memerlukan waktu 8 tahun. Di Jawa terdapat burung insektivora, antara lain Lanius schach yang telah terbukti efektif sebagai kandidat agens pengendalian hayati belalang kembara (Locusta migratoria manilensis). Pengendalian hayati belalang Sexava spp. dengan burung predator belum pernah dilakukan. Introduksi burung Bentet Kelabu L. schach dari Yogyakarta ke Pulau Salibabu, Kabupaten Kepulauan Talaud, Sulawesi Utara telah dikaji secara mendalam. Penelitian
