Slamet Utomo, M.Pd Key words: Textbook, Genre, Generic Structure. A good textbook is not based on cover dressing, but its content of texts. A text is the main body of given instruction in a branch of learning. In 2006 English curriculum, the students have to write a paragraph based on genre. Genre is kind of text or text types. Each genre has different social function that indicates the form of the text it self. Genre refers to different types of text to achieve purpose in their generic structure. Genre consists of social function, generic structure and grammatical features. Every genre has different generic structure. Generic structure is the major part of genres. The function of generic structure can make more understand about the organization of genres. The objective of this research is to describe the generic structures of the genre in the Textbook of Tenth Grade Students Published by Tim MGMP Bahasa Inggris Kabupaten Kudus in Academic Year 2012 and to find out the genres in the Textbook of Tenth Grade Students Published by Tim MGMP Bahasa Inggris Kabupaten Kudus in Academic Year 2012. This is descriptive qualitative research. The data of the research are various text types or genres in the English textbook. Meanwhile, text that found in the Textbook of Tenth Geade Students Published by Tim MGMP Bahasa Inggris Kabupaten Kudus in 2012 is as the data source of the research. I use descriptive research to analyze generic structure ang genre found in Textbook of Tenth Grade Students Published by Tim MGMP Bahasa Inggris Kabupaten Kudus in 2012. From 50 texts which have been analyzed, the writer finds out five genres. They are procedures text (8) which generic structures are goal, materials and steps. Recount text (6) which generic structures are orientation, series of events and reorientation. Narratives text (21) which generic structures are orientation, complication and resolution. Descriptive text (8) which generic structures are identification and description. News item (7) which generic structures are newsworthy events, background events and sources. From this research, the writer hopes (1) The teacher should motivate the students to improve their knowledge and to understand the meaning of text

through analyzing genre, such as the social function, grammatical features, and especially the generic structures. Beside that, the teachers should give more attention to learn about genres, so they can more understand about the point of generic structures of each text. (2) The students should study more about the generic structures of genres, so that they can differentiate of generic structures in genres. Beside that, they should read many texts to understand genres because every text has different genre and then they should try to analyze generic structures of genres. Then, they should be able to explain the point of generic structures from the texts. It will make them understand about generic structures. (3) The Further Researcher, it will be better if they want to analyze kind of texts; they can use this skripsi for the reference, especially in analyzing generic structure of the text.

Slamet Utomo, M.Pd Kata kunci: Buku Teks, Tipe teks, Struktur teks Sebuah buku yang baik tidak didasarkan sampulnya , tapi isi dari teks tersebut. Teks adalah badan utama dari instruksi yang diberikan dalam cabang pembelajaran. Pada tahun 2006 kurikulum bahasa Inggris , para siswa harus menulis sebuah paragraf berdasarkan genre . Genre adalah jenis teks atau tipe teks. Setiap genre memiliki fungsi sosial yang berbeda yang menunjukkan bentuk teks itu sendiri . Genre mengacu pada berbagai jenis teks untuk mencapai tujuan dalam struktur teks tersebut. Genre terdiri dari fungsi sosial , struktur teks dan fitur gramatikal . Setiap genre memiliki struktur teks yang berbeda . Struktur teks adalah bagian utama dari genre . Fungsi struktur teks yaitu dapat lebih memahami tentang organisasi jenis teks . Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan struktur teks dari genre dalam Teks Buku untuk siswa kelas sepuluh yang diterbitkan oleh Tim MGMP Bahasa Inggris Kabupaten Kudus Tahun Akademik 2012 dan untuk mengetahui genre dalam Pembelajaran Modul untuk siswa kelas yang diterbitkan oleh Tim MGMP Bahasa Inggris Kabupaten Kudus Tahun Ajaran 2012. Ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif . Data dari penelitian ini adalah berbagai jenis teks atau genre dalam Modul bahasa Inggris . Sementara itu, teks yang ditemukan dalam Buku Teks siswa kelas sepuluh yang diiterbitkan oleh Tim MGMP Bahasa Inggris Kabupaten Kudus tahun 2012 adalah sebagai sumber data penelitian . Penulis menggunakan penelitian deskriptif untuk menganalisis struktur teks yang ditemukan dalam Buku Teks siswa kelas sepuluh yang diterbitkan oleh Tim MGMP Bahasa Inggris Kabupaten Kudus tahun 2012. Dari 50 naskah yang telah dianalisis , penulis menemukan 5 tipe teks. Mereka adalah prosedur teks ( 8 ) yang mana struktur teksnya adalah Goal, material and steps. Teks recount ( 6 ) yang mana struktur teksnya adalah orientation, series of events and reorientation. Teks narasi ( 21 ) yang mana struktur teksnya adalah orientation, complication and resolution . Teks deskriptif ( 8 ) yang mana struktur teksnya adalah identification and description. Teks berita (

7 ) yang mana struktur teksnya adalah newsworthy events, background events and sorces. Dari penelitian ini , penulis berharap ( 1 ) Guru harus memotivasi siswa untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan memahami makna teks melalui analisis tipe teks, seperti fungsi sosial , fitur gramatikal , dan terutama struktur teks . Selain itu, guru harus memberikan perhatian lebih untuk belajar tentang genre , sehingga mereka dapat lebih memahami titik struktur dari masing-masing teks . ( 2 ) Para siswa harus belajar lebih banyak tentang struktur teks dari genre , sehingga mereka dapat membedakan struktur teks dalam genre tersebut . Selain itu , mereka harus membaca banyak teks untuk memahami genre karena setiap teks memiliki genre yang berbeda dan kemudian mereka harus mencoba untuk menganalisis struktur teks genre tersebut . Kemudian , mereka harus bisa menjelaskan titik struktur dari teks . Ini akan membuat mereka mengerti tentang struktur teks . ( 3 ) Peneliti akan lebih baik jika mereka ingin menganalisis jenis teks , mereka dapat menggunakan skripsi ini sebagai referensi , terutama dalam menganalisis struktur teks .
