Hallo?
Bram:
Kamu di mana? Aku sedang menunggumu? Apa yang terjadi?
Anita:
Nah, ini yang terjadi. Pagi-pagi sekali aku telah bersiap untuk pergi ke sekolah. Hari ini ada latihan ulangan untuk menghadapi ujian akhir. Menurut perhitunganku, jarak dari rumah ke sekolah, bisa ditempuh dalam waktu lima belas sampai dua puluh menit. Setelah sarapan dan pamit kepada kedua orangtua, aku segera bergegas pergi ke sekolah. Aku bersiul-siul dengan riang sambil menunggu angkutan umum. Tidak lama berselang, angkutan umum pun datang. Di dalam angkutan umum, aku membaca dan menghafal kembali buku pelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Aku asyik membaca dan menghafal hingga 10 menit berlalu tanpa terasa. Namun, tiba-tiba aku tersadar. Angkutan umum yang aku naiki berjalan dengan tersendat-sendat. Aku melihat ke luar jendela angkutan umum. Ternyata aku terjebak kemacetan! Uuugh, menyebalkan! Jantungku berdegup dengan kencang. Semua yang aku pelajari tiba-tiba hilang begitu saja. Kalau begini terus, bisa-bisa aku terlambat masuk sekolah.

Text 5
Selamat malam. Malam ini kita punya cerita dari Desa Harjasari yang terletak di lereng pegungungan. Desa ini subur dan udaranya bersih. Akan tetapi akibat banyaknya penebangan pohon di lereng pegungunan itu, Desa Harjasari pun dilanda banjir. Kehidupan penduduk yang semula damai dan tenteram berubah menjadi memprihatinkan. Sawah-sawah terendam banjir sehingga tidak menghasilkan bahan pangan. Penyakit pun bermunculan melanda warga desa. Pak Karta, Kepala Desa Harjasari, berpikir keras untuk mencegah terjadinya banjir kembali. Pak Karta berencana untuk melakukan reboisasi terhadap hutan yang gundul. Setelah banjir berlalu, Pak Karta mulai mengumpulkan bibit tanaman. Ketika bibit tanaman telah terkumpul, Pak Karta mengumpulkan warga desa untuk bergotong-royong menanami hutan yang gundul tersebut. Sebagian besar warga desa dengan senang menyambut ajakan Pak Karta. Mereka juga tidak ingin lagi dilanda banjir. Akan tetapi, ada juga beberapa warga yang malas dan enggan ikut gotong royong. Mereka tidak memahami bahwa reboisasi dapat mencegah banjir. Dengan sabar, Pak Karta menjelaskan bahwa pepohonan dapat menyerap air dan menghalangi air turun ke desa mereka. Setiap hari Pak Karta tekun bekerja untuk menanami hutan gundul yang sangat luas itu sehingga menyadarkan warga. Akhirnya, warga yang tidak mau bergotong-royong tergerak untuk membantu. Usaha Pak Karta bersama warga desa membawa hasil. Banjir tidak lagi melanda Desa Harjasari. Text 7 Dalam kebudayaan Indonesia, ada ungkapan “belum makan nasi sama saja dengan belum makan”. Bagi rakyat yang bekerja atau tinggal di daerah Depok, mereka akan merasa lapar selama sehari. Di daerah ini, Anda akan mengalami “One Day No Rice” setiap hari Selasa. Menurut pemerintah kota Depok, orang Indonesia terlalu banyak makan nasi. Diperkirakan bahwa penduduk harus mengonsumsi kentang, singkong dan ubi-ubian karena lebih baik untuk kesehatannya daripada makan nasi. Selain itu, masyarakat tidak seharusnya bergantung pada beras karena lahan pertanian semakin terbatas akibat pembangunan di Indonesia. Sejak bulan Februari tahun ini, kebijakan “One Day No Rice” diadakan oleh pengusaha rumah makan dan pedagang kaki lima. Akibat kebijakan ini pedagang harus menyediakan beberapa macam makanan seperti biasa dan tidak lagi menjual nasi. Namun, wakil dari pemerintah menjelaskan bahwa pemerintah akan memberikan penghargaan berupa bantuan modal kepada pedagang yang mendukung kebijakan pemerintah. Salah satu pedagang menyatakan, kebanyakan orang masih hidup di bawah garis kemiskinan dan hanya mampu membeli nasi. Orang tidak mau membeli soto yang nasinya diganti dengan kentang. Pedagang lain sudah berkurang pendapatannya pada hari tersebut. Pada hari yang lain, mereka akan mendapatkan penghasilan sebesar Rp350.000. Namun pada hari yang tidak diperbolehkan menjual nasi mereka hanya mendapatkan Rp140.000. Penghasilan ini tidak mencukupi kebutuhan sehari-hari untuk keluarga pedagang. Ada beberapa pedagang warung yang terus-menerus mendengar keluhan dari pelanggan yang meminta nasi dijual secara diam-diam dengan cara dibungkus. Untuk pedagang yang tidak menjual nasi, tidak ada pelanggan pada hari itu. Pedagang ini harus mengikuti pembatasan atau mereka tidak mendapat izin untuk menjual makanan di daerah Depok. Text 8 Franki Mengangkat Martabat Musik Tradisional Franki Raden mendedikasikan hidupnya untuk musik tradisional Indonesia. Pada 2009, Franki langsung mengumpulkan para pemusik tradisional dari seluruh Indonesia. Sebenarnya dia telah lama bercita-cita menciptakan sebuah orkestra dengan musik tradisional karena menurut dia keanekaragaman musik dan budaya Indonesia adalah sumber kekuatan untuk sebuah orkestra. Akhirnya pada tahun 2010, musisi dari segala penjuru Indonesia mementaskan sebuah konser bernama Orkestra Nasional Indonesia (ONI). Musisi ini berlatar belakang budaya dan agama berbeda. Walaupun tidak ada satu musisi pun yang pernah mengikuti latihan musik formal, bunyi gabungan alat-alat musik mereka menciptakan suara yang luar biasa. ONI adalah representasi dari slogan negara Indonesia ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’. Tur mereka akan memperkenalkan musisi ini ke beberapa kota Australia. Tiket konser ini hampir terjual habis. Vocabulary
