PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES Since 1984 up to now involves in the design and execution of geotechnical investigation, soil intrumentation, deep foundation and excavation for high rise buildings, load tests (Static and PDA), pile integrity testing (PIT), sonic logging integrity test, vibration monitoring, slope stability, ground anchors, pumping test, dewatering, micropiles, tunnelling and ground improvement works, e.g. dynamic compaction, vertical drain, vibro-compaction, geosynthetic and grouting. The jobs cover more than 180 projects in Indonesia, Singapore and Srilanka. Since 1999 also active as a financial consultant for individuals.

GTL- GouwTjieLiong Consultant was founded in 1991 (before 1999 was PT Limara) to cope with the growing market needs on the Geotechnical Engineering services. GTL provides specialties in the field of Geotechnical Engineering Services, Supervising, Testing and execution of Ground/Foundation Works. The scope of Geotechnical Engineering Services includes the design and supervision of soil investigation, foundation (bored pile, driven pile, barrette pile, etc.), substructure works (sheet piling, secant piles, contiguous bored pile and diaphragm wall), slope stabilization and ground improvement works both in land and on a reclaimed land. GTL has been involved in a number of high-rise buildings work, among others are: Pavilion Park apartment, MidPlaza II and III, BII (Sinar Mas) Plaza, Bapindo Center, Hayam Wuruk Apartment, Chase Plaza II (Jakarta Center), Taman Anggrek Condominium, Plaza Indonesia Extension, Cempaka Mas Mega Mall, New Deutche Bank, Plaza Modern, Puri Imperium (Empire Court), The Westin Jakarta, Wisma Mulia, Kota Kasablanka, Graha Kuningan etc. We have also been involved in analyzing and remediation of slope stability problem in Jakarta as well as in East Kalimantan. GTL also provide a quality assurance testing for foundation and building works, the services include: Soil or Geotechnical Instrumentation, Plate loading test; Vibration measurement due to piling activity, machinery, vehicles and blasting; Pile Driving Analysis (PDA); Dynamic Load Testing (DLT) a means to investigate the bearing capacity of a piles; Pile Integrity Analysis (PIT) for assessing the integrity of a pile; Sonic Logging for testing the soundness (integrity) of concrete; and coring of concrete piles. Apart from those activities, GTL also performs soil nailing, ground anchor, and ground improvement works.

To serve our client with a best geotechnical solution, GTL is lead by a senior geotechnical engineer (Mr. Gouw Tjie-Liong) with many experiences in the field of geotechnical engineering. Mr. Gouw has a wide experiences in the design, analysis and construction of many geotechnical works, among others are: ground improvements, involving vertical drain and vibrocompaction, for large oil tanks in Balikpapan oil refinery; dynamic consolidation and vibrocompaction works both in land and on reclaimed land; cofferdam for a large pumping station at Bukit Asam; micropile foundation for difficult site; geosynthetics works; pile testing; and other geotechnical works; since 1998 he has also involved in overseas projects, e.g. MRT Tunneling design, preliminary study of underground rock cavern design in Singapore; and ground improvement design for a 24 km long highway project in Srilanka.
To carry out large and difficult geotechnical engineering works, GTL has special geotechnical computer softwares, such as PLAXIS a finite element program for solving excavation, tunneling, deformation, consolidation, ground water flows and many other geotechnical problems; Geo5, Deltares, DCSoftwares, and RocScience softwares suites: ranges of geotechnical software ranging from Soil Exploration software to a solution of Slope Stability, Soil Naling, Dewatering, Pile Foundation, and other geotehnical problems; Based on our familiarity and experties of the softwares, we have been also appointed as the sole agent of those sofwares for Indonesia region. Since then we have been supplying geotechnical softwares to more than 100 government agencise/ companies / individuals/ universities.

Since 2007, GTL have also started a Geotechnical Training Center aims to refresh and enhance the capability of praticing engineers through dissemination of its geotechnical knowledge and experties. The training / workshops covering theoretical and pratical aspects of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engeering; ranging from Soil Investigation, Foundation Engineering, Deep Excavation, Tunneling, Geotechnical Instrumentation, Non Destructive Testing of Pile, Ground Improvement Techniques, to Numerical Modelling and its application to solve difficult geotechnical projects.
