5. Read the text about king Henry and his six wives bellow. Then do the matching task. King Henry VIII. is now well-known for his six wives. He needed a son, an inheritor for his kingdom. Firstly, Henry VIII. married Catherine of Aragon and became king in 1509. During their marriage, Catherine had six children, but only one, Mary I. survived. When Catherine became too old to have any more children, Henry divorced her. He married a new wife, Anne Boleyn, and had another daughter, Elizabeth I. Then Anne Boleyn was beheaded in 1536. Afterwards, Henry VIII married Jane Seymour. She had one son. But, Jane died because of medical problems during the birth. 1 The fourth wife was Anne of Cleves, but the marriage did not last long, it ended with a divorce. Another wife Catherine Howard was executed for being unfaithful. Last wife of Henry VIII. was Catherine Parr. She outlived Henry.
