Popis způsobu použití materiálu ve výuce: Výuková elektronická prezentace, která je určena pro seznámení žáků se základními pojmy a popisem Českých Budějovic v tematické oblasti English Speaking Countries and The Czech Republic (Anglicky mluvící země a Česká republika). Materiál může sloužit jako názorná pomůcka doplňující výklad učitele, ale také je vhodná pro domácí přípravu žáků (např. zpřístupněním formou e-learningu). Materiál obsahuje zpětnou vazbu ověřující pochopení látky v podobě závěrečného snímku s otázkami k tématu. Tento výukový materiál je spolufinancován Evropským sociálním fondem a státním rozpočtem České republiky.

Budějovice is the biggest city in the region. It´s a metropolitan city of South Bohemia. It´s situated in the south of the Czech Republic. The population of České Budějovice is about 100,000 people.
BASIC FACTS The
city of České Budějovice is situated on the confluence on 2 rivers – the Vltava and the Malše rivers. They both flow through the city of České Budějovice. The city is located in the valley surrounded by the hills e.g. the Blanský les. The countryside is flat. So, in the city there are great conditions for riding a bicycle.
GROWING CITY The
population of České Budějovice is about 100.000 inhabitants. In the last few years the city has been spreading because a lot of new suburbs have been built e.g. Borek, Nemanice, Hlincova Hora, Rudolfov etc. The reason why the city is getting bigger is that there are a lot of work opportunities.
ČESKÉ BUDĚJOVICE The
city of České Budějovice is a cultural, administrative and sport centre of South Bohemia. It´s the seat of many local authorities, offices and councils. The historical Town Hall is situated on the main square.

CULTURAL FACILITIES There
are a lof facilities including The South Bohemian theatre, The South Bohemian museum. There are two cinemas (the Kotva and the Cinestar movie theatre), a lot of galeries, some other small theatres. It is also a lively city because there are a lot of restaurants, pubs, clubs etc.
OTHER FACILITIES There
are a lot of sport facilities including gyms, skating arenas, swimming pools, and other sport facitities. Budvar arena is the largest sport facility in town. There are a lot of shopping facilities (supermarkets, department stores (Prior), and shopping centres (IGY, Merkury).
SIGHTS The
city of České Budějovice is one of the most visited places in the Czech Republic. Especially in the summer the city is visited by thousands of tourists from all over the world. The main sights include The Black Tower, The Town hall, Přemysl Otakar II. Square, Samson fountain, St. Nicolas Church etc.
SAMSON FOUNTAIN Samson
fountain is one of the most significant symbols of České Budějovice. The fountain of Samson was built between 1721 and 1727 and it is decorated with allegories, created by the sculptors Josef Dietrich and Zachariáš Horn.

SAMSON FOUNTAIN The
distance between the opposite sides of the fountain is 16 m, so the fountain is able to be the house of entire football team celebrating a victory, which is a tradition in South Bohemia. The fabulous vicious boulder is a few steps away.
BREWERIES The
city is famous for its breweries. There are two breweries. The Budvar and the Samson breweries. The Budvar Brewery is one of the biggest in the Czech Republic. The Meat House (Masné krámy) is the most traditional place to have a pint of Budvar beer.

MY SCHOOL W
e study at Secondary Medical School in České Budějovice. My school is in Husova street ,number 3. It is one of the oldest schools in town with a long tradition. The school offers several courses including the courses of nursing assistant, medical lyceum, dental technician assistant, laboratory assistant and massage trerapist.
