Over de auteurs
Prof. dr. A.P. Buunk was van 1975 tot 1990 verbonden aan de Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen, en is sinds 1990 hoogleraar sociale psychologie aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, waar hij eerder ook in de sociale psychologie afstudeerde. Hij combineert fundamenteel en toegepast onderzoek op tal van gebieden. De laatste jaren deed en begeleidde hij vooral onderzoek vanuit de sociale vergelijkingstheorie naar huwelijkssatisfactie, loopbaanproblemen, AIDS-preventie, kanker, arbeidsongeschiktheid, motivatie in het onderwijs, etnische minderheden, gezondheidsrisico's en burnout op het werk. Hij heeft op deze terreinen tal van wetenschappelijke publikaties op zijn naam staan. Ook publiceerde hij veel over jaloezie in intieme relaties, uitwisseling en communicatie in relaties, en stress en sociale steun. Hij is auteur of redacteur van elf boeken, waaronder Sociale psychologie en psychische problemen (samen met dr. A. Vrugt (1989)) en Variant lifestyles and relationships (samen met B. van Driel (1989)). Hij was lid van de redactie van de bundels Toegepaste sociale psychologie en Fundamentele sociale psychologie. Ook is hij lid van de hoofdredactie van Gedrag en Gezondheid, en van de redactieraad van het Journal of Social and Personal Relationships en het European Journal of Social Psychology. Tevens is hij voorzitter van de onder de NWO ressorterende Stichting voor de Gedragswetenschappen (SGW). Dr. P. Veen studeerde (experimentele) social psychologie in Utrecht bij professor Mauk Mulder. Hij deed zijn doctoraalexamen in 1966. In 1970 promoveerde hij op een proefschrift getiteld: Meebeslissen: een veldexperiment in een hockeyclub. Van 1969-1975 was hij werkzaam als organisatie-adviseur bij het Raadgevend Bureau Berenschot, met name op de terreinen van werkoverleg, samenwerkingsen beslissingsstructuren. In 1975 werd hij tot lector benoemd in de sociale psychologie aan de Rijksuniversiteit te Utrecht. In 1977 volgde de benoeming tot gewoon hoogleraar aan de Rijksuniversiteit in Groningen. Thans is de auteur werkzaam in het bedrijfsleven. Van zijn hand verschenen tevens: Mensen in organisaties; De kern van de sociale psychologie (samen met H.A.M. Wilke). Daarnaast redigeerde hij onder meer Zicht op macht (samen met H.A.M. Wilke) en Ruimte voor vrouwen.
