Instructions – How To Mark The Standard Level Paper 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
Always use red ink . Tick correct answers. Each tick is equivalent to 1 point. You can not give half the point. Indicate with two ticks, if the candidate answered correctly an assignment of two points. Please accept the answer, if it is correct, but not mentioned in the Answer Key. The same procedure should be applied in the case of synonyms (e.g.: platelets – thrombocytes). In the Answer Key equally acceptable answers are separated with backslash (/) from one another. At the end of the assignment add the points up in the grey-coloured chart . At the end indicate the detailed points for each assignment in the final summary chart and add them up to indicate the total score. The total point multiplied by 1.25 will give the total point for the written part of exam. The final evaluation is the total point for the written part of the exam expressed in percentage. If the candidate was asked to compose whole sentences (e.g.: giving reasons or explanations) – only grammatically correct sentences are acceptable. Please, do not deduct points for spelling mistakes, yet do not accept misleading compositions.
We wish you a successful work.

Non-identical/dizygotic twins 1 point 5. Because their Rh blood groups are different. 1 point 6. Either A or B. (Only if both are named.) 1 point 7. In the course of the delivery of the baby (childbirth) Rh antigen got into the blood of the mother and she would produce antibodies against them, which would destroy the red blood cells/corpuscles of future Rh+ child (embryo). The treatment prevents this. (Other correct phrasings are also acceptable.) 1 point 8. Dd (heterozygote). 1 point 9. Yes, it is possible. 1 point if both parents are heterozygotes. 1 point

2. 3. 4. 5.
The arrow put between behavioural element A and B is awarded by 1 point. D Because the subsequent generations do not come into contact with their parents. A A A B A As a consequence of internal fertilisation the reproduction is independent of water/ Eggs make embryonic development in dry environments possible. / The hatching of eggs depends on the temperature of the environment and the number of hours of sunshine. / The number of eggs depends on the amount of food available. (Any of them are acceptable.) 7. The cornified epithelium prevents dehydration. / In the summer its body is heated up by the sun, in the winter it is compelled to have a dormant period. (Any of them are acceptable.) 8. The cornified epithelium does not make cutaneous (skin) respiration possible. / Only a lung of sufficient internal surface area can provide adequate oxygen supply. (Any of them are acceptable.) 9. The body temperature and the intensity of metabolism depends on the temperature of the external environment. 10. The integumentum is not capable of keeping internal heat in a cooling external environment. (body temperature is adjusted to external temperature.) / Changing body temperature makes insulating layers superfluous/unnecessary.
