Advisor : (1) Fitri Budi Suryani, SS, M.Pd , (2) Fajar Kartika, SS, M.Hum Key words: swearing, form of swearing, function of swearing, types of swearing word, interpretation of meaning In this life, so many variations of language, especially swearing words, because it is unique words with hidden meaning. We usually use it when we have the informal conversation. Swearing word is some words used to give some power into our sentence. Therefore, in this study, the writer is interested to find out what types, form, function, and also the interpretation of meaning of swearing word are found in the movie of “Grown Up 2 by Dennis Dugan” and “The Pacifier by Adam Shankman.” The writer analyzed the swearing words are found in the utterances of characters, and the forms, functions and types of swearing words that produced by the characters of Grown Up 2 & The Pacifier movies. The writer used Steven Pinker theory of types of swearing words as the basis of the analysis of the study. The swearing words are divided into five types, they are dysphemistic swearing, abusive swearing, idiomatic swearing, empatic swearing, catharic swearing. This is a qualitative research which the data of the study is taken from the movies Grown Up 2 & The Pacifier. The writer chose Grown Up 2 & The Pacifier movies because the writer want to prove that swearing word not only used when someone in feeling angry or frustated by something, swearing words can be used to express all of emotion, and the writer found that in these movies. Moreover, Grown Up 2 & The Pacifier movie are a unique movie and also give positive values to the audiences. From the findings, the writer analyzed about the forms, functions, types and also interpretation of meaning of swearing words, the writer can make summarize about it. In those movies of Grown Up 2 & The Pacifier there are 31 utterances of swearing words and divided into several types, such as 13 abusive types, 1 idiomatic types, and 17 emphatic types. The function has several term, they are feeling anger, dislike, curiosity, and etc. Interpretation meaning is a message or theoretical value of something or it can be said as hiden meaning. For the next researchers who are interested in doing similar research, this study will give contribution to comprehend the swearing words. And also this study can give inspiration and guidance for the further researchers to be more careful in doing research.

Pembimbing: (1) Fitri Budi Suryani, SS, M.Pd , (2) Fajar Kartika, SS, M.Hum Kata kunci: kata–kata makian, bentuk dari kata makian, fungsi dari kata makian, jenis kata makian dan makna tersirat dari kata makian Dalam hidup ini, terdapat banyak sekali macam bahasa, terutama kata makian, karena itu merupakan kata yang unik dan memiliki makna yang tersembunyi. Kita biasanya menggunakan kata makian ketika kita dalam percakapan yang tidak resmi. Kata makian adalah sebuah kata yang digunakan untuk memberi kekuatan dalam kalimat yang kita ucapkan. Oleh karena itu, dalam pembelajaran ini, penulis tertarik mencari tahu tentang jenis, bentuk, fungsi, dan juga makna yg sebenarnya dari kata makian yang terdapat pada film “Grown Up 2 yang disutradarai oleh Dennis Dugan” dan film “The Pacifier yang disutradarai oleh Adam Shankman.” Penulis menganalisis kata makian yang terdapat didalam ungkapan dari karakter karakter dan bentuk, fungsi dan jenis kata makian yang di ungkapkan oleh karakter didalam film Grown Up 2 & The Pacifier. Penulis menggunakan teori dari steven pinker yang membagi kata makian menjadi lima jenis, mareka adalah dysphemistic swearing, abusive swearing, abusive swearing, idiomatic swearing, emphatic swearing dan catharic swearing. Ini adalah penelitian kualiatif, yang datanya diambil dari film Grown Up 2 & The Pacifier. Penulis memilih film Grown Up 2 & The Pacifier karena penulis ingin membuktikan bahwa kata makian tidak hanya digunakan ketika seseorang merasa marah atau frustasi karena sesuatu, kata makian dapat digunakan untuk menunjukkan berbagai macam jenis emosi, dan penulis menemukan itu didalam film ini. Terlebih lagi, film ini sangat unik dan juga memberikan nilai-nilai positif kepada penontonnya. Dari temuan tersebut, penulis menganalisis tentang bentuk, fungsi jenis dan makna kiasan dari kata makian. Penulis bisa membuat rangkuman tentang itu. Didalam kedua film tersebut ada 31 ungkapan tentang kata makian, dan dibagi menjadi beberapa jenis, seperti 13 jenis abusive, 1 jenis idiomatic, dan 17 jenis emphatic. Kata makian memiliki beberapa fungsi, mereka adalah perasaan marah, tidak suka, keingintahuan dan lain-lain. Interpretasi makna adalah pesan atau nilai teoritikal pada sesuatu atau dapat dikatakan sebagai makna yang tersembunyi. Untuk peneliti selanjutnya yang tertarik dalam melakukan penelitian serupa, penelitian ini akan memberikan kontribusi untuk memahami implikasi percakapan. Dan juga penelitian ini dapat memberi inspirasi dan petunjuk untuk peneneliti selanjutnya untuk lebih berhati-hati dalam melakukan penelitian. x
