Aankooppolitiek Fluxys stelt opdrachten systematisch open door potentiële contractanten in concurrentie te stellen met elkaar via prijsaanvragen en aanbestedingen en door de duur van de contracten in de tijd te beperken. Transparantie en non-discriminatie vormen basiselementen om duurzame relaties met contractanten aan te gaan en een grondige marktkennis op te bouwen. Er wordt in het aankoopproces gestreefd naar het beste evenwicht tussen veiligheid, betrouwbaarheid en kosten om zo een bijdrage te leveren aan de rendabiliteit en de continuïteit van de onderneming. Deze aanpak moet ertoe leiden om een optimaal resultaat te bereiken, dat in lijn ligt met de strategische objectieven van Fluxys. Op basis van het voorgaande, kiest Fluxys voor een gecentraliseerd aankoopproces, waarin een dynamische rolverdeling tussen aanvrager en aankoper bestaat, die zich ontpopt tot een pragmatisch en efficiënt partnership om haar aankopen in praktijk om te zetten.
