RINGKASAN
Abstract
The ozone layer play an important role to protect the earth (ecological, plant, animal and human life ) from the harmful effect of ultraviolet-B radiation, as this ozone layer can absorb UV-B radiation effectively, NO2 also important as controlling factor and act as "break on" on ozone destruction by ClO In this Thesis would describe stratospheric NO 2 and ozone as well as the measurement method, its abundance and behavior, based on the simultaneously measurement by using Visible Spectrophotometer from the ground based station at twilight, when the solar zenith angle is 90°. The measurement method based on "Lambert Beer " law, where is the attenuation of monochromatic radiation is strongly related with the number ofabsorbing molecules in their optical path. This research conducted at the Field Laboratory of Atmospheric Research and Development Center of LAPAN (ARDC3rd OF LAPAN) at Ciater (6.43° S, 107.41° E) from 1996 September to 1997 February 28 0 . The results show that mean values of NO2 vertical column amounts are: 2.13 and 4.33 10 15 molecule cm-2 for morning and evening respectively. For average of morning and evening of ozone show 6.62 1018 molecule cm-2, or about 232 DU (Dobson Unit). The dominant concentration of stratospheric NO 2 and ozone were observed from the ground based are between 25 to 30 km altitude with the thickness of about 5 km. The largest concentration of ozone showed at 26 km altitude of 6.34. 1012 molecule/cm 3, or about 7.5 ppmv. We also described the comparison the theoretical model and observation of stratospheric NO2 diurnal variation. The model and observation show the differences 2.16 %, 3.65 % at the 25 and 26 km altitude. The ozone data obtained from the ozonsonde launching at 20. 25, 26 and 30 km altitude were used for the validation of the stratospheric NO2 diurnal variation of theoretical model. The deviation amplitude of NO2 concentration are -0.49 to 1.10 and -0.76 to 1.38 (1013 molecule cm-2) for morning and evening, and -27.08 to 20.02 DU for ozone.
