Official opening clubhouse 8th June, 16:00
Op zaterdag 8 juni as zal de officiële opening van het clubhuis aan de Overveerpolder plaatsvinden. Vanaf een uur of 16:00 is iedereen welkom om onder het genot van een hapje en een drankje het clubhuis te bewonderen om vervolgens de officiële opening van ons nieuwe onderkomen mee te maken.
On Saturday 8th of June the clubhouse at the Overveerpolder will be officially opened. Everybody is welcome to enjoy a drink and a bite and admire the new clubhouse around 16:00 and to be there at the official opening of our new club house.
Naast de opening zal ook de trekking van de loterij (zie hier voor meer informatie) plaatsvinden. Op de dag zelf kan je daar nog lootjes voor kopen (€2,- per lot) en mocht je niet in de gelegenheid zijn ze in persoon te kopen dan is het ook mogelijk om ze komende week tot en met vrijdag 7 juni te bestellen via:

Ajax cricket tour to Abingdon July 22nd - July 29th 2013 This summer an Ajax combination team will be touring to Abingdon (near Oxford), as has been the case every 4 years since 1959. Every other 4 years Abingdon (Vale) Cricket Club will tour to Holland/Ajax, so we meet each other every 2 years. The tour will take place in the last week of July (as usual), leaving on Monday morning July 22nd (flight to Birmingham) and returning on Monday (afternoon) July 29th. The tour party will be hosted by Abingdon club/team members and play 3-4 friendlies in the Oxfordshire area (apart from other social activities organised by AVCC) and the main match against Abingdon will be on Sunday July 28th. This tour is open to Ajax members whereby players with a certain level, as well as players who have toured and/or hosted before, have preference. The basic cost (travel, shirts, presents etc) will be around € 325 and an additional € 200 is the average extra for food & drink during the week. Frugal and less thirsty/hungry people might pay less than that, but I'm sure the likes of DJ Spoor will spend more ;-)

The tour-schedule so far: Mon 22nd July: Abingdon Vale CC U21s v Ajax (5:30pm start / T20) Tue 23rd July: Horspath v Ajax (2pm / 40 Ov) Wed 24th July: Challow & Childrey v Ajax (2pm / 40 Ov) Thu 25th July - boattrip on Thames & visit to Oxford, followed by dinner with hosts/spouses/tourlegends Fri 26th July: Great & Little Tew v Ajax (2pm / 40 Ov) Sat 27th July - Free at leasure or T20 tournament, followed by party @ clubhouse Sun 28th: Abingdon Vale v Ajax (for the "JJ" Trophy, 12pm / 45 OV), followed by festivities Mon 29th: depart back to Holland with JJ-trophy The aforementioned social activities (e.g. bbq's after matches, evening program) have yet to be communicated by the Abingdon organising committee, but it can be said that we're usually kept busy (never a dull moment...). Zami II wint Godenstrijd dankzij Wolly’s 50&50*
Zondag 9 juni wordt er (zonder afspraak) vanaf 8:30 kleding uitgegeven op het clubhuis. Esther zal voor deze gelegenheid de naaimachine meenemen, en kan ter plaatse een zoom in de broek leggen! Ook de Penningmeester is aanwezig voor het ontvangen van uw betalingen. Maakt gebruik van deze gelegenheid om er tenminste als een cricketer uit te zien.
De eerste overwinning van het jaar op Nederlandse bodem was er een van grote klasse. Captain Bill won weer de toss en ging toch weer fielden, hoewel hij wist dat Herucles met 6 Overgangsklasse spelers stond …. Maar ook met 5 krukken. De scorecard liet dat na afloop ook zien, de 5 van de 6 Overgangsklasse spelers dubbele cijfers, de 5 krukken: 0,0,1,0,0.
Sunday 9th of June from 8:30 Esther will be at the pavilion to sell club gear. There will even be on-site hemming service! Take advantage of this occasion to smarten up your on-field presence.
Hercules kwam tot 145 ao (incl 1 speler retired op 50 zoals dat hoort): Taco 3-33, Martijn 2-20, Olaf 2-21, Jeroen 2-44. Dubbele vangen voor Bhuban en Martijn. Keeper Walter pakte ook weer vang mee en dat was zijn 50e slachtoffer in Zami II.

Clubhuis 21 juni ’s avonds gesloten - feestje
De 2e innings liet zien dat Hercules snapt hoe zami gespeeld moet worden: de Overgangsklasse spelers bowlde niet voluit (maar wel allemaal 7 overs …) en ook wat invallers mochten een balletje opgooien. Uiteindelijk was het weer keeper Walter die een belangrijke rol speelde, hij droeg zijn bat door de innings en kon nog net op 50* komen voordat Jeroen A (11*) in de laatste over de winnende run sloeg. Ook waren er bijdragen van Kerdy (10) en de captain (12) plus wat extra’s (41) waaronder 1 over met 12 extra’s.
Op vrijdagavond 21 juni zal er een verjaarsfeestje van een paar jeugdleden zijn in ons OVP-clubhuis. Voor degenen die nog een drankje willen na de training is het wel mogelijk om achterlangs een drankje te komen halen, maar het clubhuis is voor de feestgangers. http://ajaxcricket.wordpress.com Excelsior – Ajax U10 Wat een genot was het om te cricketen op het hoofdveld van Excelsior afgelopen zondag. Een heerlijk zonnetje, een prachtige grasmat, een zeer sfeervol clubhuis, en bovenop de graswickets. De coaches lieten de jongens zien hoe mooi zo'n graswicket is, waarna de warming-up begon. De inzet vooraf vertaalde zich direct in het veld. Er werd redelijk gebowled en scherp gefield. Alhoewel er lang relatief weinig wickets vielen, kwamen deze vooral door goede run outs van Chris, Justin, Feijo en de allereerste door Liam. Er was ook een mooie vang van Bouwen op square leg. Niels was enorm vooruitgegaan met zijn bowlen. Indrukwekkend. De run rate van Excelsior werd onder controle gehouden, en uiteindelijk zaten zij na 14 overs voor 57 runs (na aftrek van 5 wickets) aan de kant. Battend ging het heel redelijk bij Ajax. Voortdurend zat Ajax rond of net boven de run rate van Excelsior. Er vielen vrijwel geen wickets. Liam ging een keer uit, maar compenseerde dat mooi met een aantal viertjes. Er werd scherp gerund door Chris, Feijo, Liam en Bouwen en vooral het batten van Max en Niels viel op. Slim singeltjes pakken als dat kon. Rechte ballen op de palen blokken, en af en toe proberen uit te halen op wijdere ballen. In de een na laatste over had Ajax meer runs bij elkaar geslagen dan Excelsior. Kortom, er leek geen vuiltje aan de lucht. Niets was minder waar. Bouwen haalde uit en werd gevangen op mid-on. Ook Justin had het zwaar, en vulde de druk om na een onfortuinlijk eerste uitje runs bij elkaar te slaan. Uiteindelijk vielen daardoor meer wickets. Echter, tot 2 ballen voor het eind kon Ajax nog steeds winnen. Dat lukte uiteindelijk net niet. Jongens, dit is zoals een wedstrijd het mooiste is. Net winnen of net verliezen. @CN 2013-099
De les die de coaches jullie willen meegeven, is te blijven oefenen op bowlen, rechte ballen te blokken, singles te lopen, en slechts af en toe voor de grote klap te gaan bij wijde ballen aan off, en iets mindere wijde ballen aan leg. De captain van het Zuid-Afrikaanse team (AB De Villiers) zei het mooi nadat Zuid-Afrika het Nederlandse team had verslagen afgelopen vrijdag. "Ik zie een heleboel talent. Leer van elke cricketervaring - of je nu wint of verliest. Dat doen wij ook." Volgens mij had hij het over jullie, en niet over het Nederlands elftal. De coaches
Ajax U9 strikt toptalent Ajax U9 heeft er een topper bij! Na een paar weken trainen durfde Noah Shah het aan om een wedstrijdje te spelen; en dat ging niet verkeerd. Tegen het meidenteam van VOC pakte Noah drie wickets en maakte hij liefst 25 runs. En daarmee was hij nog niet eens topscorer. Onze big hitter Daniel kwam (mede door twee grote mannen-zessen) tot het indrukwekkende totaal van 33 runs. Met nog elf runs van Sarah en wat aftrek kwam Ajax tot 61 runs. Ruim genoeg om te winnen van het sympathieke VOC, dat mede door zuinig bowlen van Jan, Lars en Niniek op 21 runs was blijven steken. Onze tweede overwinning is dus binnen en zaterdag gaan we thuis tegen Rood en Wit op jacht naar de derde. Komt dat zien!

After a slightly delayed start due to umpires that had not been notified of the starting time by the KNCB, Kampong won the toss and decided to bat first. Ajax took the field to show this strong side what they are worth. Evelien and Amber opened the bowling, but initially with little success as the Kampong openers showed some aggressive batting. This changed however, when Jarni started to bowl from the farm end and was awarded with a (disputed) LBW for her excellent bowling. From that moment on wickets kept falling, although Kampong kept the runrate at about five an over. Jarni and Eugenie both bowled well and took three wickets and Pietje bowled two. Jarni took two catches in the field, Christine one, and with a run-out and only 10 players for Kampong, the opposition was all out for 122 after 25 overs. Although 122 was not a high total given the size of the field and the assumption that Ajax would make use all of their overs, a considerable effort of Ajax would be needed to achieve this score against the strong bowling and fielding of Kampong. Again, Ajax lost an early wicket, but Pietje and Christine (8) consolidated the situation by staying in and running between the wickets. Although the excellent field placement of Kampong made the scoring of runs difficult, the Ajax ladies managed to maintain the required runrate throughout the first half of the innings. Pietje (18) and Eugenie (15) both batted well and made singles and boundaries. However, wickets kept falling and it became more and more difficult to get the runs that were needed for a victory. When Jarni (8) came in as number eight, the run rate increased a little with some lovely shots, but it was not enough. Again, wickets @CN 2013-099
121 jaar jong fell and Antoinette now defended the last wicket until the end of the innings together with Mary, who faced her first ball in a match today. Ajax ended up with only 80 runs after 40 overs for 9. A loss for the Ladies from Oegstgeest, but against a team that was stronger and deserved the victory.

The current priority is to install the clubhouse at its new location and renovate it to provide a focal point for our club activities. An artist impression of the bar is shown below.

Contacting Past and Present Members for additional contributions. Contacting local businesses for financial contributions in return for placement of logos on the website with a link to their website. The minimum for this will be €100. Providing an opportunity to local and other businesses to place logos on team shirts for cost from €175 to €400 depending on the position of the logo. Sponsoring of balls at matches. Individuals and members can sponsor the ball for each match at a cost of €20.
The objective is to raise a minimum of €5,000 with the above initiatives within the next three months. Therefore, the committee hopes all members will assist in this exercise by identifying and approaching potential sponsors to contribute.
