Doa Yesus untuk murid-murid-Nya (Yohanes 17:1-26) 16
“Mereka bukan dari dunia, sama seperti Aku bukan dari dunia. 17 Kuduskanlah mereka dalam kebenaran; firman-Mu adalah kebenaran”.
Yesus adalah Tuhan • Yang kami tuliskan disini hanya ikhtisar Alkitabiah tentang Yesus adalah Tuhan • Silahkan anda berdoa lalu membaca dan merenungkannya. Roh Kudus Tuhan akan mengajar anda (Yoh 14:26; Ef 1:17; Flp 1:19; 1 Yoh 2:27). • Silahkan tarik kesimpulannya. • Mintalah bimbingan Pendeta / Gembala gereja anda
1: systematic argumentative discourse in defense (as of a doctrine). 2: a branch of theology devoted to the defense of the divine origin and authority of Christianity. Christianity (Websters Dictionary)
Pertanyaan • Benarkah versi Alkitab / Injil yang kita pakai sekarang? • Mengapa bukan : 1. “Injil” Yudas Iskariot? 2. “Injil” Barnabas? 3. “Injil” Maria Magdalena? 4. “Injil” Thomas? 5. “Injil”/”Wahyu” Petrus?(Apocalypse of Peter)

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? us Then said I, Here am I; send me.

woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
Questions Asked as the Early Church Determined Which Books to Use • Was it written by an Apostle or someone in direct contact with an Apostle? …during the Apostolic era? – The church automatically rejected any book written under a pseudonym (assumed name). • Is the book consistent with the teachings of the Apostles? • Is the book Christ-centered? • Had the book already received wide acceptance in the church? • Does the book bear the marks of spiritual power? .>
Weird Stuff • Gospel of Thomas – “Blessings on the lion if a human eats it, making the lion human” – “Let Mary go away from us because women are not worthy of life… For every woman who makes herself male will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
• Gospel of Philip – “The saints are served by evil powers, for they are blinded by the Holy Spirit into thinking that they are serving an (ordinary) man whenever they do so for the saints.” >
The Gospel of Thomas The sayings of Jesus : The Kingdom of Heaven is within. Human existence is not true existence. Salvation is through self-knowledge.
“Outlawed Gospels” Recording Jesus’ Life as Mere Man? • Though the “gospels” not included in the NT contain some weird ideas, they do not all describe Jesus as a mere mortal man… • The Apocalypse of Peter: “The Savior said to me, “He whom you saw on the tree, glad and laughing, this is the living Jesus.” (Jesus never laugh at the cross) • Infancy Gospel of Thomas : At age 5, Jesus makes 12 sparrows from clay (working in violation of the Sabbath), but then gives them life and they fly away (dikutip oleh agama lain) • Infancy Gospel of Thomas : Jesus raises boy from dead who was pushed off of a roof (Thomas’s Gospel is without any other witness)
“The Lost Gospels” • Except for the Gospel of Thomas, all the others were written more than 100 years after Jesus. • Teachings in these differ from what we know the apostles taught • Never quoted by any known author during first 300 years after Christ • Never read in Christian assemblies • Not included in the lists of accepted books & letters • Not the subject of commentaries • Some were specifically rejected by the Church Mike Licona
>
Mark D. Roberts • Only four gospels were ever seriously considered for the NT canon • There is no evidence that eighty gospels ever existed • In Nag Hammadi Library, there are only four documents with the name "gospel" attached (Truth, Thomas, Philip, and Egyptians) – Gospel of Mary is included in English versions of the Nag Hammadi Libary, but it wasn't found there. • The Early Christian Writings website, which uses the term gospel quite liberally, and includes most early Christian writings, has only twentyone so-called "gospels“ – not 80.
>
The Gospels vs. “The Lost Gospels” • Matthew:58–75 AD • Mark: 65-70 • Luke: 70-90 • John: 65-98 • Acts: 85• Possibly, Luke & Acts written before 64 AD

Would you be more likely to believe a book about George Washington written by someone who lived during his lifetime, or one written by someone who lived 100 years later and who wrote under someone else’s name? >
How Does the Record Compare with Conflicting Testimony? Origen, Church leader (AD 185-254):
“I know a certain gospel which is called The Gospel according to Thomas and a Gospel according to Matthias, and many others have we read… Nevertheless, among all these we have approved solely what the church has recognized, which is that only the four gospels should be > accepted.”
Bagaimana peran konsil Nicea?
Things That Did Happen at the Council of Nicaea • Constantine did call the meeting of church leaders at Nicaea in 325 • Constantine had make a profession of faith, that seems somewhat dubious • Constantine did plea for peace & harmony in the church • Over the years, Constantine changed sides in the controversy discussed at Nicaea
>
The Issue at Nicaea • The Heresy of Arius – Jesus was more than a man, but less than God – Jesus existed before the rest of creation, but Jesus did not share eternal preexistence with the Father “There was a time when he was not” – Jesus is inferior to the Father in time, essence, and power • Those who believed the historic teachings of the church wanted to correct this false teaching – “There was not a time when he was not” > • The Creed of Nicaea…
The Creed of Nicaea We believe in… one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only-begotten begotten from the Father, that is from the substance of the Father, God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made, consubstantial with the Father, Father through whom all things came to be, both those in heaven and those in earth …And those who say ‘there once was when he was not,’ and ‘before he was begotten he was not,’ and that he came to be from things that were not, or from another hypostasis or substance, affirming that the Son of God is subject to change or alteration—these the > catholic and apostolic church anathematizes.
Things That Didn’t Happen at the Council of Nicaea • Did not involve the discussion of which Gospels to include in the New Testament. • Constantine did not manipulate the results – The church leaders had suffered persecution before (some had scars; one had been blinded), they would not be bullied now • Did not propose a new teaching about Jesus. The Creed of Nicaea was a refinement of the Baptismal confession from the church in Jerusalem • Constantine did not “upgrade Jesus’ status” or embellish the Gospels • Did not involve a question as to whether Jesus is a mere man or the “Son of God”— but exactly what it means to say Jesus is the “Son of God.” >
Pertanyaan • Apakah Yesus benar-benar Tuhan? • Mengapa Dia sering mengatakan bahwa Dia itu “Anak Manusia”? • Apakah Dia hanya nabi? • Apakah Dia hanya guru filsafat, moral dan etika? • Apa bukti bahwa Yesus itu Tuhan?
The Apostles Believed That Jesus is God • Titus 2:13 “While we wait for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” • Colossians 2:9 “For in Him the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily” • Hebrews 1:8 “But about the Son: Your throne, O God, is forever and ever…” • Phillippians 2:6 “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God” .> (cf v5)
The Early Christians Believed Jesus is God Ignatius, Ignatius died 108 AD – "Ignatius... to the Church which is at Ephesus, ... united and elected through the true passion by the will of the Father, and Jesus Christ, our God" God (Proem.) – "Jesus Christ, who was of the seed of David according to the flesh, being both the Son of man and the Son of God..." (ch.20) God >
The Early Christians Believed Jesus is God • Polycarp (Writing between 110 & 130) – "...to all under heaven who shall believe in our Lord and God Jesus Christ and in his Father who raised him from the dead." (Epistle of Polycarp, 12:2) • Justin Martyr (died, 165 AD) – "the Father of the universe has a Son; who also, being the first-begotten Word of God, is even God." God (Ch. 63) – Dialogue with Trypho: "...which I wish to do > in order to prove that Christ is called both God and Lord of hosts..." (Ch. 36) hosts
The Early Christians Believed Jesus is God Irenaeus of Lyons (ca 170-190) – Against Heresies: “But the Son, eternally co-existing with the Father, Father from of old, yea, from the beginning,..." (II, 30) – Proof of the Apostolic Preaching: “..this king is Christ, the Son of God, made Son of man...” (36) . > man
Non-Christian writings state that the Early Christians Worshipped Jesus as God • Plinius the Younger (wrote in 112 AD) – “…They were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verse a hymn to Christ as to a god…” god
• Lucian (Lived, 120-180 AD) – The Christians “have offended once for all by denying the Greek gods and by worshipping that crucified sophist himself and living under his laws.” (The .> Passing Peregruis)
The Question “But you, He asked them, who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15, NIV) >

Possible Responses to Jesus’ Claims •
If Jesus’ Claims were False : • If his claims were false, but he sincerely thought they were true, and he was a nut case, you can dismiss him. • If his claims were false and he knew it - he was a con man – you can denounce him.
•
If Jesus’ Claims are True: • You can ignore Him to your own peril. • You can confess Him and submit.
>
Is Christianity Based on a Philosophy or Actual Historical Events? • 1st Corinthians 15:14-15, 32 “And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is without foundation, foundation and so is your faith. In addition, we are found to be false witnesses…” • Paul tells us, it does have to be true to be truth! .>
Is There Eyewitness Testimony? • 1st John 1:1 “What was from the beginning, what we have heard, heard what we have seen with our eyes, eyes what we have observed, observed and have touched with our hands, concerning the Word of life” • 2nd Peter 1:16 “…we were eyewitnesses of His majesty” • 1st Corinthians 15:5-6 “He appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. Then He appeared to over 500 brothers at one time, most of whom remain to the present, present but some have fallen asleep.” >
Luke 1:1-4 1.Many have undertaken to compile a narrative about the events that have been fulfilled among us, 2. just as the original eyewitnesses and servants of the word handed them down to us. 3. It also seemed good to me, since I have carefully investigated everything from the very first, to write to you in orderly sequence, sequence most honorable Theophilus, 4. so that you may know the certainty of the .>. things about which you have been instructed
Is the Eyewitness Testimony Reliable? 1. Is it sincere? –
James: beheaded as the first martyr of the Apostles (Acts 12:1-2)
–
Peter: Executed by crucifixion (head-down, at his own request) around AD 64 during the persecutions of Emperor Nero, or later in AD 67.
–
Andrew: Crucified at Patras in Achaia. A later tradition describes him as being crucified in a > spread-eagled position.
Is the Eyewitness Testimony Reliable? 1. Is it sincere? – John: Boiled in oil before dying a natural death at Ephesus around 98-100 AD. – Bartholomew: Traditionally he met his death by being flayed or skinned alive, and then beheaded at Derbent, north of present day Baku on the Caspian Sea or what is now India. >
Is the Eyewitness Testimony Reliable? 1. Is it sincere?
•
–
Thomas: Speared to death near Madras on the east coast.
–
James the Less: Martyred in Egypt
–
Jude and Simon the Zealot: killed in Persia
–
Paul: beheaded in Rome
Con-men may lie for money, but > they will not die for a lie!
Sincerity Beyond Reasonable Doubt •

In 112 AD, Pliny the Younger, Governor of Bithynia, wrote to Emperor Trajan asking how he should treat Christians Had been killing Christian men & women, boys & girls He was asking if he should continue killing them all or just certain ones Also, Pliny had made Christians bow down to statues of Trajan “Made them curse Christ which a genuine Christian cannot be > induced to do.”
Is the Eyewitness Testimony Reliable? 2. Is it sincere, but mistaken? – Acts 1:3 “After He had suffered, He also presented Himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during 40 days and speaking about the kingdom of God.” – Not a “group hallucination” or wishful thinking – too much time to come to one’s senses & to verify .> the facts.
Is the Record of the Eyewitness Testimony Reliable? • Could the record have been embellished by people who came later? • Theological liberalism – e.g. Quest for “Historical Jesus” – e.g. “Jesus Seminar” Purpose, as they see it, to free Americans from the naïve belief that the Jesus of the Bible is the ‘real’ Jesus
• The Da Vinci Code…
>
The Da Vinci Code “The Bible is a product of man, my dear. Not of God. Man created it as a historical record of tumultuous times, and it has evolved through countless translations, editions, and revisions.” Page 231 (Page 250-251 in paperback) [Constantine the Great] omitted those gospels that spoke of Christ’s human traits and embellished those gospels that made Him godlike. The earlier gospels were outlawed, gathered up, and burned.” Page 234 >
Is the Record of the Eyewitness Testimony Reliable? •
We know that the Bible we read today is what was written by the original writers because of… 1. How close in time the copies are to the originals 2. The number of copies >
How close in time the copies are to the originals • Plato (Tetralogies) 427-347 BC – We have only 7 ancient copies – Earliest copy: 900 AD – The earliest one was copied 1200 years after being written
• Roman historian Tacitus, 100 AD – 20 copies of “Annals” – Earliest copy: 1100 AD – 1,000 years after being written
• Homer’s Iliad (900 BC) (2nd best manuscript evidence behind NT) – 643 copies – Earliest copy: 425 BC – 500 years after being written
>
Is the Record of the Eyewitness Testimony Reliable? • Over 5,000 Greek Manuscripts – Within 140 years of the originals • 25,000+ manuscripts in other languages (Latin, Coptic, Syriac) – e.g., Latin translation of Old & New Testaments dating to 150 AD by African Missionaries • 30,000+ quotations from Church Fathers of New Testament within 300 years of Jesus Rylands Papyri (P52) – All but 11 verses in the New John 18:31-33, 37 Found in Egypt, 1920 Testament are found quoted in Dated to approx. 130 AD the writings of the earliest > (John died approx. 98 AD) Christians.
Chester Beatty Papyri Discovered: 1930 Contains most of the New Testament, including the four Gospels and Acts Dates to before 250 AD
>
The Record of the Eyewitness Testimony is Reliable! • When comparisons are made between copies, scholars can reproduce a text that is roughly 98.5% pure to what the original said. • The remaining 1.5% is mostly matters of spelling and word order and impact no major doctrine or practice. Mike Licona
.>
Is There Evidence That Corroborates Their Testimony? • Thallus: Samaritan-born historian, In AD 52, attempted to explain the darkened sky at the time of Christ’s death • Josephus: Jewish historian (born 37 AD) records crucifixion & resurrection reports • Tacitus: (born 52-54 AD) Historian, wrote of Pilate’s execution of Jesus
How Does the Record Compare with Conflicting Testimony? • 2nd Thessalonians 2:15 “Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions you were taught, either by our message or by our letter.” • 2nd Thessalonians 2:2 “Not to be easily upset in mind or troubled, either by a spirit or by a message or by a letter as if from us, alleging that the Day of the Lord has come.” >
Gospels Among the Dead Sea Scrolls? “Because Constantine commissioned and financed a new Bible, which omitted those gospels that spoke of Christ’s human traits, and embellished those gospels that made him godlike. The earlier gospels were outlawed, gathered up, and burned… Fortunately for historians,” Teabing said, “some of the Gospels that Constantine tried to eradicate managed to survive. The Dead Sea Scrolls were found in the 1950’s, hidden in a cave near Qumran in the Judean desert.” The Da Vinci Code, chapter 55 page 254 in paperback >
Dead Wrong on the Dead Sea Scrolls • Dead Sea Scrolls discovered in 1947, not the 1950’s • There are no writings about Jesus in the scrolls – No Gospels • The scrolls found at Qumran are copies of Old Testament books and the writings of the sectarian Jewish group who lived there • Most all of the writings were written before Christianity >
Some Christian Scriptures Were Destroyed • In 303 AD Diocletian ordered the destruction of the sacred books of the Christians. • This is before the Council of Nicea in 325 • This is before Constantine became Emperor in 306 • So the charge that Christians are the book-burning suppressers of expression has it exactly backwards! They are the > victims.
7 Yesus
berkata kepadanya (iblis) : ” Ada pula tertulis: Janganlah engkau mencobai Tuhan, Allahmu! “
(Mat 4:7)
II. JESUS IS JEHOVAH A. “The voice of one that crieth, Prepare ye in the wilderness the way of Jehovah; make level in the desert a highway for our God.” (Is. 40:3) “For this is he that was spoken of through Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make His paths straight.” (Mat. 3:3) John prepared the way for JESUS (Jn. 3:28)!
II. JESUS IS JEHOVAH B. “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as Jehovah hath said, and among the remnant those whom Jehovah doth call.” (Joel 2:32) “But this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel… And it shall be, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth,.” (Acts 2:16, 21-22)
II. JESUS IS JEHOVAH C. “Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem..” (Is. 8:13-14) “…The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner; and, A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence; for they stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.” (1 Pet. 2:7)
III. JESUS IS GOD A. Not the same person, but the same nature. John 1:1 “the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” B. Received Worship (Mat. 4:10; 14:33; John 20:28-29; Heb. 1:6). C. Claimed Equality With God (John 5:17-18; 8:24, 56-59 10:30-33)
IV. WHAT OF DEUT. 6:4? “Hear, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah” A. One = “Achad” (Heb). (Strong Hebrew Encyclopaedia 0259) “properly, united, i.e. one…” Same as Gen. 2:24, “one flesh” B. Compare: John 17:21 1 Cor. 1:10 Acts 4:32 Acts 7:26
Disciples “one” as Father & Son Christians are “one” “One” heart & soul Two men set at “one” again
CONCLUSION: A. Three Persons – One Divine Nature B. Jesus is Jehovah, God, Divine, Deity.
“I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins.” (John 8:24)
