Historie spole6nosti SKODA TRANSPORTA TION s.r.o. saha az do roku 1918, kdy byl ve Skodovych zdvodech zalozen novy kmenovy obor zabyvajfcf se opravami a pozdeji i vyrobou kolejovych vozidel. Prvni' lokomotiva vlastnf konstrukce byla vyrobena v race 1923, cfmz byl polozen zdklad pro celou fadu slavnych parnfch lokomotiv nesouci'ch logo SKODA. Parni lokomotivy s touto slavnou znaikou byly doddvdny napri'klad do Rumunska, Bulharska, Portugalska a Recka, ale i do exoticke Kolumbie, Cfny ci Indie. Vyroba parnfch lokomotiv byla ukoncena v roce 1954, do teto doby bylo vyrobeno vfce nez 3 000 vozidel.
Vyvoj elektrickych lokomotiv se v Plzni uspesne rozvfjel jiz od dvacatych let minuleho stoletf, prvnf elektricke lokomotivy byly vyrobeny a uvedeny do provozu v roce 1927. Skodovdcke elektricke lokomotivy se v ndrocnem provozu velice osved6ily, di'ky 6emuz byly take doddvany i do zahrani6(, zejmena do zemi tehdejefho vychodnfho bloku. Po zmene situace u tradicnfch zakaznfku a rozpadu staVaji'cfch trhu koncem devadesetych let pristoupila SKODA TRANSPORTA TION s.r.o. к diverzifikaci sveho vyrobnfho programu. Od roku 1993 SKODA TRANS PORTATION s.r.o. rozsffila sve aktivity take na poli mestske hromadne dopravy
Od roku 1994 probfhajf rozsahle moder nizace souprav prazskeho metra. V roce 1997 byla zahajena vyroba modernfch nizkopodlaznfch tramvajf, Were z£hy nasly uplatnenf nejen na domacfm trhu, ale i napri'klad v EU 61 USA. UspeSne investice do novych produktovych fad jsou spolu s dlouhodobe zajistenym odbytem a finan6nf stabilitou firmy dokladem toho, ze se SKODA TRANSPORTATION s.r.o. ve svem oboru opet fadf mezi vedoucf evropske firmy.

The history of the company SKODA TRANS PORTATION s.r.o, dates back to 1918, when a new essential unit was established as part of the Skoda plants, dealing in repairs and later also in the production of rail vehicles. The first locomotive rolled off the production lines in 1923, laying the foundation of a whole range of famous steam locomotives carrying the SKODA logo. The branded steam locomotives were supplied to Romania, Bulgaria, Portugal and Greece, and also to exotic countries like Columbia, China and India The production of steam locomotives was terminated in 1954, by which time more than 3,000 units were manufactured.
By the twenties of the last century, production of electric locomotives had gained momentum in Plzefi and the first set of electric locomoti ves were manufactured and put into operation in 1927. The Skoda electric locomotives pro ved very reliable under demanding operation conditions, by the virtue of which they were also supplied abroad, mainly to the Comecon countries. Following the change of situation and the break up of existing markets towards the end of the nineties, SKODA TRANSPORTATION s.r.o. embarked on the path of diversifying its production programme. Akciova spolecnost SKODA VAGONKA as, je pfi'mym pokra6ovatelem tradice vyroby osobnfch zelezniunfch vozidel ve Studence, zalozene 12, prosince 1900 jako spolecnost „Staudinger Waggonfabrik AG." (Studenecka toverna na vagony). Za dobu sve existence bylo ve firme vyrobeno vice nez 10 000 osobnfch zelezni6nfch vozi del a souprav. Vyroba prvnfho osobnfho vozu se datuje do roku 1902 (dvoun^pravovy vuz fady Ce), prvnf tramvaj opustila podnik v roce 1905, prvnf lokomotiva je z roku 1916, motorovy vuz z roku 1927. Prvnf elektrick6 jednotka byla vyrobena v roce 1959. Vice nez 1 200 ks
osobnfch vozu zna6ky „VAGONKA" bylo dodano do zahrani6i, napf. do Bulharska, Italie, Jugoslavie, Macfarska, Rakouska, Rumunska, Srbska, ale i SSSR a Turecka, nove i do Finska a Litvy. The joint-stock company SKODA VAGONKA as. is a direct continuator of the tradition of manufacturing passenger railway vehicles in Studenka since its founding on 12 December 1900 as the company „Staudinger Waggonfabrik AG." (The Studenka Wagon Factory). Ever since its conception, the company manufactured over 10,000 passenger railway vehicles and sets. The first passenger vehicle rolled out in 1902 (two-axle car of the Ce class), the first tramway left the company in 1905, the first locomotive was released in 1916, and the first produced railcar left the plant in 1927. Additionally, the first electric
unit was manufactured in 1959. As regards exports, over 1,200 coaches under the brand „VAGONKA" were supplied to Bulgaria, Italy, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Austria, Romania, and Serbia, in addition to the U.S.S.R. and Turkey, and newly also to Finland and Lithuania. Complimentary to this range, the company also manufactured some 80 thousand goods and special vehicles. Vagonka, as the only company in the Czech Republic, prides itself in successfully producing the classic steel and stainless steel bodies, as well as aluminium bodies, and during the production of railway vehicles continuously applied many progressi
ve technical and technological solutions. Since its founding, the company underwent a number of product, organizational and prop rietary changes pursuant to which, in 1929, it became a part of the Ringhoffer's Group, and then from 1997 a subsidiary of CKD PRAHA (CKD PRAGUE). Historie spolecnosti Ganz se datuje do roku 1844, kdy pan Abraham Ganz zalozil svou vlastni firmu. Spolecnost si rychle zfskala dobre jmeno po cele Evrope a jeji jmeno se spojovalo s vyrobou prvnich zelezni6nich kol litych za studena (chill-cast railway wheel). The history of the Ganz dates back to 1844, when Abraham Ganz founded his own factory. The company soon earned good reputation among Europe, its name being associated with the production of the first chill-cast railway wheel. During the 1870s the Ganz Works developed into a company with great international importance, primarily due to the introduction of successfull innovations and inventions. In addition to the chill-cast railway wheel, the Wegmann-Mechwart rolling mills, hydroelectrical turbines and railway wagons were also developed in this early period. The first-ever rail vehicle manufatured by Ganz Works was a pit locomotive for DC traction system. From 1893 the Ganz Works delivered the electric traction devices for almost all tramcars for the growing Hungarian cities, Later on Kalman Kando initiated the application of asynchronous
motors for traction purpose. The first Ganz made asynchronous rail vehicles were supplied in 1898. The electrification of the Val Tellina rail line in Northern Italy was completed in 1902. The locomotives and motor coaches serving the line were equiped with 3-phase asynchronous traction equipment manufactured by Ganz Works. In 1984 the first chopper was built in a trolleybus, which was followed by the delivery of a chopper based metro trainset in 1987. Also the new Ganz suburban trains with asynchronous traction motors and currentsource inverter were put in operation on the MAV lines between 1988 and 1990. Since 1998 Ganz has been supplying IGBT based DC traction system with microprocessor control to urban transport vehicles. The first low-floor trolleybus with Ganz-developed and manufactured 3-phase asynchronous traction motor, voltage-source inverter
and microprocessor control was delivered in 2001. The new era in the Ganz history started in August 2006 when Czech and European machinery leader SKODA took over the assets and activities of Ganz Transelektro Traction Electrics Zrt. and established with Hungarian Resonator Kft. a new company GANZ-SKODA ELECTRIC Zrt.
