ABSTRAKSI Septiani, Nelly Efrida. 2015. Pemahaman Mendengarkan Siswa Kelas XI SMK 1 Kudus Tahun Pelajaran 2014/2015 yang Diajar Menggunakan Talk Show. Skripsi. Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Muria Kudus. Pembimbing: (i) Rismiyanto, S.S. M.Pd., (ii) Farid Noor Romadlon, S.Pd, M.Pd.
ABSTRACT Septiani, Nelly Efrida. 2015. The Listening Comprehension of the Eleventh Grade Students of SMK 1 Kudus in the Academic Year 2014/2015 Taught by Using Talk Show. Skripsi. Key words: Listening Comprehension, Talk Show Listening is a basic skill to learn a language. Learning English at school, the skill which is studied divided into four aspects: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In this case, the students found had difficult in listening English words. Therefore, the writer interested to do a research about listening. The objective of this research is to find out there is a significant difference between the listening comprehension of the eleventh grade students of SMK 1 Kudus in academic year 2014/2015 before and after being taught by using Talk Show. The design of this research is experimental research, used one experimental group without control group and the instrument of the research is written test. The population of this research is all eleventh grade students of SMK 1 Kudus in the academic year 2014/2015 with the total number of 380 students. In deciding the sample of the research, the writer used cluster random sampling and the writer got eleventh Syariah Bangking 1 class as the sample of this research, which consist of 36 students. The result of this research showed that there is a significant difference between listening comprehension of the eleventh grade students of SMK 1 Kudus in academic year 2014/2015 before and after being taught by using Talk Show. The result shows that the listening comprehension after being taught by using Talk Show is better than before being taught by using Talk Show. The listening comprehension of the eleventh grade students of SMK 1 Kudus in academic year 2014/2015 before being taught by using Talk Show is categorized sufficient. The mean and the standard deviation are 59.72 and 10.60. Meanwhile, the listening comprehension of the eleventh grade students after being taught by using Talk Show is categorized good. The mean and the standard deviation is 75.03 and 10.56. The calculation of tobservation (t0) got result 8.34 in the level of significance = 0.05 and the degree of freedom (df) 35 which is gained from N-1= 36-1=35, t-table is 2.042. It means that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted because t0 falls in the critical region. So, it means that Talk Show is an effective media to teach listening comprehension. Therefore, the writer hopes this research can be used by the English Teacher as one of media to enrich the reference about teaching listening comprehension in the eleventh grade students.
