Many people probably heard about Augmented Reality (AR) before, which is a digital technology that enables reality to have more information and meaning, by inputting sounds, video, graphics, and even GPS data, using computer technology. Inspire is eager to share more about AR, and that is the reason why our April edition is highlighting AR, so we can see further on how AR can support our activity, our business, our life. Not only AR, we will also be sharing facts about QR Code, which we are sure Blackberry users out there are familiar with. Many companies and corporations are now relying on their QR code to market and promote their products or services to public. Everything is now possible, thanks to a technology called Augmented Reality. Augmented Reality is a digital technology that has been growing significantly in the last decade. In order to add information and meaning to real objects and locations, this technology was developed to be able to add more meaning to a reality through a combination of live video using a computer and visualization. Through sounds, video, graphics, or GPS data inputs, computer will produce outputs that help us to have deeper understanding about certain objects or locations. The development of Augmented Reality has been applied in many life activities. For medical industry, Augmented Reality can support Doctors in doing media imaging by projecting MRI results to the patient’s body. This helps doctors to decode the tumor spot that needs to be removed. In aviation industry, this technology supports pilot in gaining important data about the landscape that they see while flying. While for entertainment industry, PlayStation develops the technology of Game Eye of Judgement or Hotwheel Toys with its racing game. Augmented Reality is also being applied in marketing and sales industry through digital media. We can really say that this technology has become one of the best innovations in digital marketing that surely able to complete the current marketing media in the market.

Pamela Yap, Technical Adviser Dentsu Digital Division, stated that digital marketing is a complement of nondigital media such as television, radio, print media and outdoor media. The development in digital media will not replace marketing through non-digital media, at least for the near future. It’s not possible to say that in the future, digital marketing will grow even bigger due to the rapid telecommunication development and people’s demand to be connected to mass public in the era of media freedom. Even so, Pamela sees that digital media is more suitable to be applied to communicate with young generations that always up-to-date with the development of technology. In Indonesia, the implementation of Augmented Reality has been applied for marketing communications for several brands. For this matter, Augmented Reality technology generally applied using scan code bar or QR code input which available on print media. Once we point the code to smartphone’s or computer’s camera, voice, video or graphic content can be shown in the device’s screen. But Augmented Technology is not only limited to the implementation of bar code or QR code in print media as the input. There are many more possibilities in the development of Augmented Reality as a marketing communication media. The development will clearly change the way of how campaign is done in the near future. Marketing campaign usually done through digital media with more focus on search engine optimization and the use of social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Now, the availability of Augmented Reality has become one innovation on digital media that will complete non-digital media campaign in television, radio, print and outdoor media.

This gadget combines portable music player with a pedometer – two devices that have been used by sport lovers for years. This gadget is able to make a playlist, see how far has a person run, see how many calories have been
burnt, see exercise statistics, and also manage a person’s achievements during jogging. This device has two components, which are sensor and receiver with the size of 2.5 cm. The sensor is placed under Nike’s shoe soles, with the receiver placed inside the iPod Nano.
Adidas Heart Rate Monitor
Just like Nike, Adidas also has a similar device called miCoach. This gadget is a personal training system that can virtually motivate, inspire and give guidelines to the runner to run using the most effective method, to meet exercise’s achievements. In other words, miCoach works as a personal trainer. This device gives audible guidelines to guide the runner to adjust steps’ performance and heart capacity. miCoach will give the runner’s instructions to accelerate or slower down running steps based on the sensor received by additional device, placed in the runner’s chest and legs.
Anti-Gravity Treadmill
For the elders or for those who have experienced feet injury, jogging might be very risky to do. That’s why many companies produce treadmill using NASA technology called Alter-G. This device is created by Dr. Robert Whalen, and it is able to relieve gravitation on the runner’s hips to legs, so the weight will automatically reduce. It took three weeks for the artist to make this egg. The price of this egg has reached Rp 1.000.000.000.

Even so, those challenges help them to achieve their goals, and when the goals are achieved, it will surely give proudness to the whole team of Property Relation Department. Until now, Property Relation Team has been working together with more than 400 buildings and areas.

QR Code is an evolution of Bar Code, which has been used since 1950s. Even though the two codes have similarity in terms of type, QR Code has bigger data storage compare to Bar Code. QR Code can store various data in large amount, starting from numeric, alphanumeric, binary, up to Kanji. At least 1.817 Kanji characters can be stored inside this code. Other advantage of QR Code is that it is resistant to damage and has the ability to repair the damage up to 30%. Moreover, when the code symbol is damaged, it can still store data, and readable. QR Code, stands for Quick Response Code, was developed by Denso Wave, a subsidiary company of Denso Corporation, to monitor car assembling process in Toyota Car Manufacturing. The two-dimensional code was designed to deliver information fast, and receive fast respond in return. That is why QR Code is still readable by scanner, even when it’s scanning in high-speed. Along the way, QR Code is also applied by companies to support their sales and marketing activities, including transportation ticketing and entertainment. Lately, this code is also being used as a promotion tool because the middle part of the code can be replaced with an image or company logo.
