Acara ini telah diselenggarakan Festival Seni Budaya Buddhis (FSBB), adalah salah satu perhelatan acara yang di selenggarakan secara rutin setiap 5 tahun sekali oleh di beberapa tempat, yaitu : Buddhist Education Centre Surabaya dengan melibatkan banyak Surabaya Vihara dan Organisasi agama Buddha. Acara ini adalah salah satu Convention Hall,TP 3 acara yang merupakan kiprah nyata Buddhist Education Centre 25 – 30 Juni 2003 (BEC) dalam menjalankan fungsinya sebagai Pusat Pendidikan dan Pengunjung 30.000 orang Informasi Agama Buddha. Dalam perjalanan penyelenggaraannya, FSBB terus mengalami SSCC Supermall, perkembangan. Secara kualitas, Buddhist Education Centre (BEC) 25 – 30 Juni 2008 terus berupaya meningkatkan kualitas materi pameran dan acara pengunjung 40.000 orang yang diadakan. Semua terselenggara dengan dukungan banyak pihak. Tidak cukup dari dalam negeri, pada perkembangan terakhir tingkat Makassar GTC, 22 Agustus - 7 September 2008 antusiasme yang datang dari negara-negara Buddhis seperti India, Srilanka, Thailand, Myanmar dan juga beberapa negara lainnya cukup pengunjung 22.000 orang tinggi untuk turut terlibat dan berpartisipasi acara Festival Buddhis ini. Pada penyelenggaraan berikutnya BEC Surabaya terus berupaya Manado meningkatkan dan melengkapi materi-materi ajaran Buddha yang Mega Mall, 17 – 26 Oktober 2008 bisa ditampilkan. pengunjung 17.000 orang Dari segi kuantitas, jumlah peserta dan pengunjung juga terus meningkat. Dan ini sangat selaras dengan salah satu prinsip dasar Jakarta penyelenggaraan acara ini yaitu konsolidatif yang berarti bisa Mall Of Indonesia, berperan menjadi perekat antara umat kaum Buddha dan juga 26 Januari – 20 Februari 2011 acara ini akan berperan dalam peningkatan kerukunan antar umat Pengunjung 70.000 orang beragama di Indonesia.
FSBB FESTIVAL SENI DAN BUDAYA BUDDHIS
Buddhist Art and Cultural Festival is one of our events that are hosted once in every 5 years by Buddhist Education Centre, Surabaya. It involves many Buddhist Temples and Religious organizations. This event is one of the many events that explain the function of Buddhist Education Centre (BEC) as a role in Centre of Education and Information for the Buddhist religion. Throughout this journey of events, Buddhist Art and Cultural Festival continuously experienced many improvements. In terms of quality, BEC has proven to upgrade and improve the quality of material content of the event. This was made possible by the help of many people involved. The interest that grew towards this event not only come from the local people but as far as Buddhist countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar and many of the honorable countries that were involved and participated. In our next event, BEC Surabaya vows to always improve its materials, especially the one involving the teachings of the Buddha that are being exhibited. The number of visitors and exhibitors always grow in number. And this goes along accordingly with our main principle as the host of the event that is consolidative. It explains our purpose as a bridge between the Buddhist communities and this event will also act as improvement of uniting the many religions in Indonesia.

LATAR BELAKANG PREFACE
Ajaran Buddha ditemukan lebih dari 2500 tahun yang lalu, dan melalui perjalanan waktu yang panjang ini, ajaran tersebut telah pula mengalami perkembangan. Perkembangan ini terbentuk seiring dengan penyesuaian ajaran Buddha dengan kondisi dan kebudayaan dari berbagai negara dimana ajaran tersebut tersebar. Ajaran Buddha telah terbukti bertahan. Sementara kulit luar mungkin berbeda, inti ajaran Buddha tetap sama untuk semua tradisi agama Buddha. Umat Buddha menerima dan menghargai perbedaan, dan menganggap bermacammacam tradisi hanyalah sebagai jalur yang berbeda untuk tujuan yang sama. Pada umumnya, tradisi yang berbeda-beda ini membantu dan mendukung satu sama lain di sepanjang jalur ini. Ajaran Buddha adalah ajaran yang dibabarkan bagi umat manusia melalui pengalaman, pencapaian, kebijaksanaan, dan pencerahan dari pendirinya. Ajaran ini berakar dari pengalaman, bukan kepercayaan yang membuta. Masalah manusia harus dipahami melalui pengalaman manusia dan diatasi dengan pengembangan nilai-nilai manusia yang luhur. Manusia dapat menemukan pemecahan melalui pemurnian
The Buddhist teachings have been around for more than 2500 years ago and through this decadent journey, the teachings had yet been into many advances in various aspects. These advances took place along with the widespread of Buddhist teachings into the many places where the local traditions differ from one place to another. However, the core of Buddhist teachings remain the same throughout, regardless of the different people having different cultures and traditions. Buddhist people have come to endure and appreciate that the many traditions is just another way of communicating that eventually lead to the same path. In general, we have come to learn, share and assist one another amongst our differences along the way. The Buddhist teachings prescribe a path of practice through which people can realize enlightenment for themselves. This path comes with his/her own experience. Buddha did not want his teaching to be accepted on his authority. Anything can become an object of attachment, even his own teaching. He encouraged the individual to take responsibility for his own beliefs. He advised that anyone should not accept anything simply because it is traditional or hearsay; or because it comes from sacred text, because

Di Indonesia, sejarah telah mencatat jejak-jejak agama Buddha dalam rangkaian perjalanan bangsa dari dulu hingga sekarang. Agama Buddha telah ikut mewarnai kultur budaya bangsa Indonesia. Candi Borobudur adalah salah satunya. Kita sekarang hidup pada masa yang dipadati oleh kemajuan teknologi dan disesaki oleh modernitas cara berpikir. Adalah suatu hal yang cukup penting untuk tetap menjaga kecintaan belajar dan mempelajari ajaran para leluhur, khususnya yang bersumber pada ajaran agama Buddha. Pada saat pencerahan, Buddha menyadari Empat Kebenaran Mulia. 1. Semua makhluk adalah sasaran dari Dukkha. Dukkha biasanya diterjemahkan sebagai penderitaan tetapi sesungguhnya ia meliputi jangkauan luas dari perasaan negatif termasuk tekanan, ketidakpuasan serta penderitaan jasmani. Dukkha

Buddha emphasized spiritual self-sufficiency and responsibility. In Indonesia, there are many Buddhist historical traces that has became an important part of Indonesian nation culture. And now in era of technology and modernity, this way of thinking can be a very important thing to nourish interests in learning the teachings of ancestors, especially the teachings that come from Buddhism. Buddha realized Four Noble Truths when he attained enlightenment: 1. Life is suffering (Dukkha / Duhkha) – our desires and expectations do not conform to the reality of the world, which is in a constant state of flux (Anicca), so we experience Dukkha. 2. The origin of suffering is attachment – not only do we fail to know reality but we mis-know it. We attribute permanence to impermanence. The physical universe is constant change, but we know it as permanent – change is the only

timbul sebab semua makhluk merupakan sasaran dari penyakit, berpisah dengan yang dicintai, tidak mendapatkan apa yang diinginkan, mengalami penuaan dan kematian. 2. Dukkha timbul dari hasrat dan keinginan. Semua makhluk menginginkan sensasi yang menyenangkan, dan juga berhasrat untuk menghindari sensasi yang tidak menyenangkan. Sensasi-sensasi ini dapat berupa jasmani maupun mental dan dukkha timbul ketika hasrat dan keinginan tidak dapat dipenuhi. 3. Dukkha dapat diatasi dengan mengakhiri hasrat dan keinginan. Nibbana adalah suatu keadaan tenang dimana semua ketamakan, kebencian dan kebodohan, demikian dukkha, telah diakhiri. 4. Ada cara mengakhiri Dukkha, yakni Jalan Mulia Berunsur Delapan. Dukkha dapat dikurangi, dilemahkan dan akhirnya dilenyapkan dan Nibbana dicapai dengan mengikuti jalan yang telah diajarkan Buddha. Ajaran Buddha terkadang dikritik terlalu pesimis karena kelihatannya berfokus pada penderitaan daripada kebahagiaan dan kesenangan. Tetapi semua kondisi dari

It is achieved through the Eightfold Path. The Buddhist teachings are often being criticized as pessimist as they focus more on sufferings than happiness and pleasure. However all conditions of happiness and pleasure will not last as human beings will fall ill, grow old and eventually die. Therefore, all beings could not hinder dukkha/ sufferings. On the contrary, Buddhist teachings are known to be based on actual happenings as Buddha has taught us ways to handle

Dalam aspek-aspek tersebut, wujud nyata Buddha Sebaliknya, ajaran Buddha Dharma disiarkan kepada sebenarnya bersifat nyata masyarakat. karena Buddha telah mengajari kita bagaimana caranya untuk Festival ini diawali dari memberikan mengatasi atau mengurangi keinginan akan peran dukkha, dan bagaimana pencerahan caranya mencapai kebahagiaan Buddha Dharma dalam seni abadi dari Nibbana. Dengan dan budaya serta hidup mengikuti Jalan Mulia Berunsur manusia di seluruh penjuru Delapan yang diajarkan Buddha, dunia. Dengan pemikiran Nibbana dapat dialami bahkan tersebut, BEC menghelat Buddhist Festival di kehidupan saat ini. Dengan acara ajaran Agama Buddha ini, pertama pada tahun 2003. semoga semakin banyak orang Acara pertama ini sangatlah hidup secara “sadar’ dan mampu sukses dan mengundang mengatasi segala masalah yang apresiasi positif dari berbagai kalangan. The purpose of this event is to give the right and proper information of Buddhist compassionate teaching. During the event, Buddhist art, culture and live contribution can be seen in every life aspect with no exception (nationalities, sects, even religions). In those aspect, a living Buddha Dharma is exhibited and broadcasted throughout the society. The Festival was founded to enlighten society for Buddha Dharma’s effect on the human culture and life around the globe. With this idea in mind, BEC held the first Buddhist Festival in 2003. The first event was a huge success and wellreceived by society. It was seen as a fresh perspective into the Buddha Dharma that was not available before.
