She was the first female Secretary of State and, at that time, she was the highest ranking woman in the history of the U.S. Government. Dr. Albright is currently the Principal of The Albright Group LLC, a global strategy company, and Chair and Principal of The Albright Capital Management LLC, an investment advisory company focused on emerging markets. Dr. Albright. As the Secretary of State, Dr. Albright reinforced America’s alliances, advocated democracy and human rights observance, and promoted American trade and business, labor, and environmental standards abroad. From 1993 to 1997 she served as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations and as a member of the President’s Cabinet. She chairs both the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs and the Pew Global Attitudes Project and serves as President of the Truman Scholarship Foundation. Madeleine K. Ve funkci ministryně zahraničí přispěla k posílení spojeneckých vztahů USA, zasazovala se o demokracii a lidská práva a podporovala uplatňování amerických norem v oblasti obchodu a podnikání, práce a životního prostředí v zahraničí. Od roku 1993 do 1997 byla stálou zástupkyní USA v OSN a členkou kabinetu prezidenta USA. Bell is Senior Vice President of SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation) where he coordinates the activities of the SAIC Business Units pursuing contract opportunities at NATO and the U.S. European Command. Prior to joining the SAIC in 2004, he served as the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defense Investment (1999-2003). From 1993-1999, Mr. Bell worked at the White House National Security Council (NSC) as a Special Assistant to President Clinton for National Security Affairs and as the NSC Senior Director for Defense Policy and Arms Control. From 1981-1993, he served on the Senate Committees on Foreign Relations and Armed Services. Robert G. Frank Boland is Director of Force Planning of the NATO International Staff where he is responsible for the conduct of force planning for Allies and partners (since 2003). He joined the UK Ministry of Defence in 1975 and held a number of posts dealing with military personnel and financial matters. He joined the UK Delegation to NATO where he was responsible for the Alliance force planning matters and, subsequently, the PfP Planning and Review Process (1992). He has worked as the Head of the Force Planning Section since 1995. Frank Boland je ředitelem pro plánování ozbrojených sil v mezinárodním sekretariátu NATO, kde zodpovídá za plánování ozbrojených sil pro spojenecké i partnerské země (od roku 2003). V roce 1975 nastoupil na britské ministerstvo obrany, kde zastával různé funkce v oblasti personalistiky a financí. Dále byl členem delegace Velké Británie při NATO, v níž byl odpovědný za záležitosti plánování spojeneckých sil a poté za plánovací a kontrolní proces Partnerství pro mír (1992). Edgar Buckley is former NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Planning and Operations (1999 – 2003) and currently works as a Senior Vice President, European Business Development, based at Thales Headquarters in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Before joining NATO, he was the Assistant Under Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defence in London, responsible for policy advice on the UK military operations and UK defence relations with North American and outside European countries (1996 – 1999). Before that he had spent four years as the Defence Counselor, UK Delegation to NATO/WEU. Edgar Buckley je bývalým náměstkem generálního tajemníka NATO pro obranné plánování a operace (1999-2003). V současné době je viceprezidentem European Business Development v centrále Thales se sídlem v Neuilly-sur-Seine ve Francii. Před nástupem do NATO byl zástupcem státního podtajemníka ministra obrany v Londýně odpovědného za politické poradenství k vojenským operacím a obranným vztahům Velké Británie s mimoevropskými a severoamerickými státy (1996-1999). Michael Clarke is Director of the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies. Until July 2007 he was the Deputy Vice-Principal and Director of Research Development at King’s College London, where he remains a Visiting Professor of Defence Studies. He previously taught international politics at the Universities of Aberystwyth, Manchester and Newcastle upon Tyne, and also at the University of New Brunswick, and the Open University. He lectures regularly at many universities in the UK. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research in Geneva. In 2007 he was appointed a Security Commissioner at the Institute for Public Policy Research, under the chairmanship of Lords Ashdown and Robertson. General Bantz John Craddock is NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe (since 2006) and commander of the U. S. European Command. After graduation he was commissioned as an Armour Officer and started his military career, during which he served at a number of commanding posts in the US and Germany. In 1989 he assumed command of the 4th Btn 64th Armor 24th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Fort Stewart, Georgia. During this posting he deployed the Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In 1996 General Craddock moved to the Joint Staff at the Pentagon as the Assistant Deputy Director (Plans and Policy). Two years later he moved to Germany as the Assistant Divisional Commander for Maneuver of the 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized). During this time he was designated the Commander U.S. forces for the initial phase of operations in Kosovo. A tour as the Senior Military Assistant to the Secretary of Defense preceded the post of Combatant Commander U.S. Southern Command. General Craddock led the U.S. Southern Command from 2004 until 2006. Generál Bantz John Craddock je od roku 2006 vrchním velitelem spojeneckých sil v Evropě (SACEUR) a současně velitelem amerického velitelství pro Evropu (EUCOM). Do armády nastoupil jako důstojník k obrněným jednotkám, svou vojenskou kariéru začal na velitelstvích v USA a Německu. V roce 1989 převzal velení 4. praporu 64. obrněného pluku 24. pěší divize (mechanizované) ve Fort Stewartu ve státě Georgia. Během tohoto působení se zapojil do operací Desert Shield a Desert Storm. V roce 1996 Craddock přešel do generálního štábu v Pentagonu v pozici zástupce náměstka pro plánování a politiku. Po dvou letech byl převelen do Německa jako zástupce velitele divize pro přesuny 1. pěší divize. V této době byl designovaným velitelem ozbrojených sil USA pro počáteční fázi operací v Kosovu. Jeho působení v pozici vedoucího vojenského tajemníka ministra obrany předcházelo jmenování do funkce velitele Jižního velitelství USA, v níž působil v letech 2004 – 2006. 2
Luboš Dobrovský is a Czech politician, diplomat and journalist. He worked for the Czechoslovak Radio (1959 – 1968). He signed Charta 77 in 1970s and worked as a spokesman of the Civic Forum in 1989. He was the Czechoslovak Minister of Defence (1990 – 1992), later served as the Director of the Office of the Czech President Václav Havel. He was the Czech Ambassador to the Russian Federation (1996 – 2000). Luboš Dobrovský je českým politikem, diplomatem a žurnalistou. V letech 1959 až 1968 byl redaktorem Československého rozhlasu. V sedmdesátých letech 20.století podepsal Chartu 77. V roce 1989 se stal mluvčím Občanského fóra. Ministrem obrany Československa byl od roku 1990 do roku 1992, posléze pak ředitelem kanceláře českého prezidenta Václava Havla. V letech 1996 až 2000 byl českým velvyslancem v Moskvě. Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga was the President of Latvia (1999 – 2003, 2003 – 2007). After finishing her postgraduate studies of psychology at the McGill University she worked as a professor at the University of Montreal. She served on many councils and organizations in high positions. She has been a Member of the Council of Women World Leaders since 1999 and made foreign policy her main area of activity. Among the most important achievements is her role in securing the NATO and the EU membership for Latvia. In 2007 she was appointed a Vice-President of the Reflection Group on the long-term future of the EU. Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga byla po dvě volební období prezidentkou Lotyšska (1999 – 2003, 2003 – 2007). Po dokončení postgraduálních studií psychologie na McGill University působila jako profesorka na Montrealské univerzitě. Pracovala ve vysokých funkcích v mnoha poradních orgánech a organizacích. Od roku 1999 byla členkou Council of Women World Leaders a zaměřila se na zahraniční politiku jako na svoji hlavní aktivitu. Mezi nejdůležitějšími úspěchy patří její role při zajišťování lotyšského členství v NATO a EU. V roce 2007 byla jmenována viceprezidentkou The Reflection Group zabývající se dlouhodobou budoucností EU. Štefan Füle is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to NATO (from 2005), he was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic at the Court of Saint James's (2003-2005). Since 2001 he worked two years as the First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic. From 1995 till 1998 Mr. Füle was the Director of the United Nations Department and the Security Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Štefan Füle je od roku 2005 velvyslancem ČR při NATO. Předtím působil jako velvyslanec ČR ve Spojeném království Velké Británie a Severního Irska. Od roku 2001 byl po dva roky 1. náměstkem ministra obrany ČR. Od roku 1995 do 1998 byl ředitelem odboru OSN a poté ředitelem Odboru bezpečnostní politiky Ministerstva zahraničních věcí ČR. Václav Havel is a Czech writer and statesman. He was one of the founders and first spokesmen for Charter 77 and leading figure of the Velvet Revolution of 1989 in the Czechoslovakia. He was the last President of Czechoslovakia (1989 – 1992) and the first President of the Czech Republic (1993 – 2003). He spent a total of thirteen years in office during which his country changed profoundly: it joined NATO (in 1999) and began negotiations for membership in the European Union, which was completed in 2004. Václav Havel je českým spisovatelem a státníkem. Byl jedním ze zakladatelů a prvních mluvčích Charty 77 a vedoucí osobností Sametové revoluce 1989 v Československu. Byl posledním prezidentem Československa (1989 – 1992) a také prvním prezidentem samostatné České republiky (1993 – 2003). V úřadu působil celkem 13 let, během nichž se země zásadně proměnila: vstoupila do NATO (1999) a zahájila jednání o členství v Evropské unii, která byla dovršena v roce 2004.

Bruce Jackson is President of the Project on Transitional Democracies. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He served in the US Army as a Military Intelligence Officer (1979 – 1990). He was instrumental in securing US Senate ratification of Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary as members of NATO and organizing the second "Vilnius Round" of NATO expansion which brought the Baltic States, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania and Bulgaria into both NATO and the European Union. Since 2002, he has been active in the Balkans and post-Soviet democracies advocating democratic reforms and the EU accession. He was a member of the Foreign Policy advisory team during McCain for President 2008 campaign. Bruce Jackson je prezidentem The Project of Transitional Democracies, dále členem Rady pro zahraniční politiku. Sloužil v pozemním vojsku USA jako zpravodajský důstojník (1979 – 1990). Během ratifikace přístupových smluv Polska, ČR a Maďarska do NATO se přičinil o jejich schválení americkým Senátem a zároveň se podílel na přípravě další vlny rozšiřování NATO ("Vilnius Round"), během níž do Aliance a později do EU vstoupily Pobaltské země, Slovensko, Slovinsko, Rumunsko a Bulharsko. Od roku 2002 aktivně působil na Balkáně a v postsovětských demokraciích, přičemž obhajoval demokratickou reformu a přistoupení k EU. V nedávné době působil jako člen zahraničněpolitického poradního týmu v prezidentské volební kampani senátora Johna McCaina v roce 2008. Géza Jeszenszky is professor and university lecturer of the American Hungarian Collegium. He was a member of the staff of the National Library of Hungary (1968 – 1976). Since 1976 he has been teaching history at what used to be the Karl Marx University of Economics, and today is the Corvinus University of Budapest. He was a founding member of the Hungarian Democratic Forum (1988), which won the free elections in April 1990, nominating him Minister for Foreign Affairs (1990 – 1994). Following the elections of 1994 he became a member of the Opposition in Parliament, and, after another change of the Government, he became the Ambassador to the United States of America (1998 – 2002). Géza Jeszenszky je profesorem a univerzitním lektorem American Hungarian Collegium. Pracoval v Národní knihovně Maďarska (1968 – 1976). Od roku 1976 vyučoval historii na bývalé Ekonomické univerzitě Karla Marxe, která je nyní Korvínovou univerzitou v Budapešti. Byl zakládajícím členem Maďarského demokratického fóra (1988), které zvítězilo ve svobodných volbách v dubnu 1990 a které ho nominovalo na funkci ministra zahraničních věcí (1990 – 1994). Po volbách v roce 1994 patřil k parlamentní opozici a po další změně vlády byl jmenován velvyslancem v USA (1998 – 2002). Karel Kovanda is Deputy Director-General responsible for the Common and Foreign Security Policy (CFSP), Mutilateral Relations with America, East Asia, Australia, New Zealand and EFTA in the European Commission's DG External Relations since 2005. Before he had worked as the Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the United Nations (1993- 1997) and then served as the Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the North Atlantic Council and Western European Union for 7 years. He also held several other positions, e.g. the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic. Karel Kovanda je náměstkem generálního ředitele zodpovědného za společnou zahraniční bezpečnostní politiku (CFSP), multilaterální vztahy s Amerikou, východní Asií, Austrálií, Novým Zélandem a EFTA na generálním ředitelství pro zahraniční vztahy Evropské komise (od roku 2005). Předtím působil ve funkci stálého zástupce ČR v OSN (1993 – 1997) a později byl po dobu sedmi let velvyslancem České republiky při NATO a Západoevropské unii (WEU). Mimo jiné vykonával funkci náměstka na Ministerstvu zahraničních věcí České republiky.

John Kriendler is professor of NATO and European Security Studies at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies (since 2002). He lectures on NATO, European security issues and the United Nations. He was a U.S. naval officer (1961 – 1964). As a career foreign service officer he served in the U.S. Embassies in Buenos Aires, Bogota and Caracas, in the State Department, at the US Mission to the UN, and the US Mission to UNESCO (1970 – 1993). He was a member of the NATO international staff as the Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and, subsequently, as the Head of Council Operations. John Kriendler je profesorem studií o NATO a evropské bezpečnosti v Evropském středisku pro bezpečnostní studia George C. Marshalla (od roku 2002), kde přednáší o NATO, evropské bezpečnosti a OSN. Byl důstojníkem válečného námořnictva USA (1961 – 1964). Jako kariérní diplomat působil na velvyslanectvích v Buenos Aires, Bogotě a Caracasu, na Ministerstvu zahraničí USA, na misi USA při OSN a na americké misi při UNESCO (1970 – 1993). Byl členem mezinárodního štábu NATO ve funkci zástupce náměstka generálního tajemníka pro politické záležitosti a poté jako vedoucí Rady pro operace. Klaus Naumann is Former Chairman of the NATO Military Committee (1996 – 1999). He joined the Bundeswehr after his secondary school graduation in 1958. He has held a variety of command and operational positions. In 1991 he was Chief of Staff, Federal Armed Forces. He also served on the staff of the German Military Representative to the NATO Military Committee in Brussels, where he was the Chief of the Military Policy, Nuclear Strategy and Arms Control Section. He was promoted to the Four Star General on that very day and held that position until 14 February 1996. Klaus Naumann byl v letech 1996-1999 předsedou Vojenského výboru NATO. Do Bundeswehru nastoupil po maturitě na střední škole v roce 1958, kde zastával četné pozice na velitelských a operačních stupních. V roce 1991 byl náčelníkem štábu federálních ozbrojených sil. Pracoval rovněž ve štábu německého vojenského zástupce ve Vojenském výboru NATO v Bruselu, působil v pozici vedoucího Sekce pro vojenskou politiku, jadernou strategii a kontrolu zbrojení. V této pozici byl 14. února 1996 povýšen do hodnosti čtyřhvězdičkového generála Bundeswehru.
John O'Sullivan is Executive Editor of the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Prague. He also worked as a Senior Editor in London Times and Daily Telegraph and from 1986 to 1988 he was a Special Advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Prior to this, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the United Press International and an editor of The National Interest and The National Review magazines. Recently he also worked as a Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute in Washington, DC. He is a founder and a co-president of the New Atlantic Initiative, an international nonpartisan organization dedicated to revitalizing and expanding the Atlantic community of democracies. John O'Sullivan je šéfredaktorem Rádia Svobodná Evropa v Praze. Předtím působil jako seniorní editor v London Times a v Daily Telegraph a také jako zvláštní poradce premiérky Margaret Thatcher. Vlasta Parkanová is the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic. In June 1990 she was elected an MP of the Federal Assembly and became a member of the Defence and Security Committee, Mandate and Immunity Committee and a member of the Commission for supervision over evacuation of Soviet troops. Since the autumn of 1992 she has worked in central bodies of the State administration. She was the Minister of Justice (1997 – 1998) for the ODA Party. In 2006 she was again re-elected an MP. Vlasta Parkanová je od roku 2009 místopředsedkyní vlády a od roku 2007 ministryní obrany České republiky. V červnu 1990 byla zvolena poslankyní Federálního shromáždění a byla členkou Branně - bezpečnostního výboru, Mandátního a imunitního výboru a Komise pro dohled nad odchodem sovětských vojsk. Od podzimu 1992 pracovala v ústředních orgánech státní správy. V letech 1997 – 1998 byla ministryní spravedlnosti za ODA. V roce 2006 byla opět zvolena poslankyní za KDU-ČSL. 5
Solomon Passy is Former minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria (2001 – 2005). Since 2005 he is the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bulgarian Parliament. In 1990 he was the founding President and CEO of the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria. He was the Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE (2004) and since 2006 he is the Chairman of the Transparency and Accountability Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. He also serves as a special Adviser to the Macedonian Government on NATO accession (since 2007). Solomon Passy byl v letech 2001 až 2005 ministrem zahraničních věcí Bulharska. Od roku 2005 je předsedou zahraničního výboru bulharského parlamentu. V roce 1990 byl zakládajícím předsedou a výkonným ředitelem The Atlantic Club of Bulgaria. Byl výkonným předsedou OBSE (2004) a od roku 2006 je rovněž předsedou Výboru pro transparentnost a odpovědnost Parlamentního shromáždění OBSE. Je také zvláštním poradcem vlády Republiky Makedonie v otázkách přistoupení k NATO (od roku 2007). Major General Josef Prokš is the First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Army of the Czech Republic (since 2008). He served as the Commander in Special Detachment of the 6th Special Group, 71st Rapid Deployment Battalion, 43rd Airborne Mechanized Battalion, 6th Mechanized Battalion of ACR in the IFOR Multinational Operation, Military Academy at Vyškov, Contingent of ACR in the Enduring Freedom Operating in Kuwait. In 1996 he served as Deputy Commander in the Czech Liaison Team at the British-led Multinational Division in IFOR Operation. He was the Chief of the Military Intelligence Services (2002-2003). Generálmajor Josef Prokš je od roku 2008 prvním zástupcem náčelníka Generálního štábu Armády ČR. Působil jako velitel zvláštního odřadu 6. speciální skupiny, 71. praporu rychlého nasazení, 43.výsadkového mechanizovaného praporu AČR pro mnohonárodní operace IFOR, Vojenské akademie ve Vyškově, kontingentu AČR v operaci Trvalá svoboda v Kuvajtu. V roce 1996 zastával funkci zástupce velitele českého styčného týmu u britské mnohonárodní divize v operacích IFOR. Byl šéfem Vojenské zpravodajské služby (2002 – 2003). Div. Adm. (Ret) Jacques Rosiers is a former Assistant Chief of General Staff of Belgium for Strategic Affairs - ACOS Strategy (from 2003) and Director of the National Office for Armament - NAD (from 2005). During his career at sea (1972 - 1991), he held numerous operational and commanding positions, both in the Belgian and NATO Naval Forces. In 1998 he was promoted to Flag Officer and became Chief of the Belgian Naval Operations and Training Command (COMOPSNAV). Between 2001 and 2003 Adm. Rosiers served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans and Policy - ACOS P&P (NATO Regional HQs East Atlantic/HQs Allied Naval Forces North, Northwood, UK). Promoted Divisional Admiral in 2002, he joined the Belgian General Staff in 2003, soon becoming the Defence Policy Director for NATO & EU. For more than 10 years during his staff career, he also held special positions in the Belgian Royal Household (Equerry, private advisor and Aide to the King). Admirál (v.v.) Jacques Rosiers je bývalým zástupcem náčelníka belgického Generálního štábu pro strategické záležitosti (od 2003) a ředitelem Národního úřadu pro vyzbrojování (od roku 2005). Během své kariéry u námořnictva (1972-1991) působil na operačních a velitelských postech jak v Belgii, tak v rámci NATO. V roce 1998 byl povýšen do hodnosti admirála (Flag Officer) a vedl belgické Velitelství námořních operací a výcviku (COMOPSNAV). Admirál Rosiers sloužil v letech 2001 až 2003 jako zástupce velitele štábu pro plánování a politiku na Regionálním velitelství NATO pro východní Atlantik/Velitelství spojeneckých námořních sil v Northwoodu ve Velké Británii. V roce 2002 byl povýšen do hodnosti divizního admirála a od roku 2003 opět působil v belgickém generálním štábu, kde se stal ředitelem obranné politiky pro NATO a EU. Po více než deset let rovněž sloužil u belgického královského dvora, mj. jako soukromý poradce krále.

Jamie Shea is Director of Policy Planning in the Private Office of the Secretary General at NATO (since 2005). He has worked for NATO since 1980, for example as spokesman (1993 – 2000), Director of Information and Press (2000 – 2003) or Deputy Assistant Secretary General for External Relations PDD NATO (2003 – 2005). Pro NATO pracuje od roku 1980, jako mluvčí v letech 1993 – 2000, pak jako ředitel sekce Informací a tisku (2000 – 2003) a následně do roku 2005 jako zástupce náměstka generálního tajemníka pro vnější vztahy v Divizi veřejné diplomacie NATO. Působí rovněž jako profesor a lektor. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer took up his duties as the NATO Secretary General in 2004. From 1976 to 1986, he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1986 he was elected to the House of Representatives of the States General for the Christian Democrat Alliance (CDA). At the same time he was a member of the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Council of Europe and the Western European Union. In 1997 he became leader of the CDA parliamentary party in the House of Representatives. He was the Dutch Minister for Foreign Affairs (2002 – 2003). Po několika letech působení na Ministerstvu zahraničí Nizozemského království byl v roce 1986 zvolen poslancem za Křesťanskodemokratickou alianci (CDA). Ve stejnou dobu byl členem Parlamentního shromáždění Rady Evropy a Západoevropské unie. V roce 1997 se stal předsedou parlamentní frakce CDA. V letech 2002 až 2003 zastával funkci ministra zahraničí Nizozemska. Během svého života působil také v řadě mezinárodních organizací a think-tanků. Christian Schmidt is a Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Defence of Germany (since 2005). Between 1984 and 1990 Christian Schmidt was a community and district councilor. In 1990 he was elected to the Federal German Parliament where he served in Foreign Affairs and Defence Committees. From 1999 he was a member of the Coordination Council of the German-Czech Consultation Forum. For several years he was the defence policy spokesman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. V roce 1990 byl zvolen poslancem parlamentu, kde působil ve Výborech pro zahraniční záležitosti a obranu. Od roku 1999 byl členem Koordinační rady Česko-německého diskusního fóra. Několik let vedl parlamentní skupinu strany CDU/CSU pro bezpečnostní politiku. Jiří Schneider is Program Director of the Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI) and former Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. He is also the former head of the Policy Planning Department of the MFA. In 2002, he served as an International Policy Fellow at the Open Society Institute in Budapest. He served as an MP of the Czechoslovak Federal Assembly (1990 – 1992) and as the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Israel (1995 – 1998). Prior to 1989 and his entry into public service, he was employed as a forestry surveyor. He serves as a part-time lecturer at the Charles University, at the New York University in Prague, and to PSSI’s Robinson-Martin Security Scholars Program. Jiří Schneider je programovým ředitelem Pražského institutu bezpečnostních studií (PSSI) a bývalým politickým ředitelem Ministerstva zahraničních věcí České republiky. Je rovněž bývalým ředitelem odboru Analýz a plánování MZV. V roce 2002 působil jako odborný pracovník na Open Society Institute v Budapešti. Byl poslancem československého Federálního shromáždění (1990-1992) a velvyslancem ČR v Izraeli (1995 – 1998). Před rokem 1989 a jeho vstupem do veřejné politiky pracoval jako lesní zeměměřič. Na částečný pracovní úvazek pracuje na Karlově univerzitě, New York University v Praze a Robinson-Martin Security Scholars Program PSSI.

Karel Schwarzenberg is Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic (since 2007) and a Senator (since 2004). After the emigration in 1948 he studied Law in Munich and Graz and Silviculture Studies in Vienna. In Bavaria he founded Czechoslovak Documentary Centre, which treasured literature forbidden in the Czechoslovakia. Between 1984 and 1990 he was the Chairman of the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights. After the fall of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia he was the Chancellor of President Václav Havel till 1992. Karel Schwarzenberg je od roku 2007 ministrem zahraničí České republiky a senátorem (od roku 2004). Po emigraci v roce 1948 studoval práva v Mnichově a Štýrském Hradci a lesnictví ve Vídni. Po pádu komunistického režimu v Československu byl do roku 1992 kancléřem prezidenta Václava Havla. Přemysl Sobotka is President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic (since 2004). After graduation from the School of General Medicine of Charles University in Prague he entered the surgical department of the Liberec Hospital, where he transferred to the X-ray department after two years. From 1991 he was a chief physician. He is a Senator for the Liberec constituency, a post to which he has been elected three times (1996, 1998, 2004). He is a founding member of the Civic Democratic Party. Přemysl Sobotka je od roku 2004 předsedou Senátu Parlamentu ČR. Po ukončení Fakulty všeobecného lékařství UK v Praze nastoupil na chirurgické oddělení liberecké nemocnice, odkud po dvou letech přestoupil na rentgenologii. Od roku 1991 byl primářem. MUDr. Přemysl Sobotka je senátorem za liberecký volební obvod, za který byl zvolen již třikrát (1996, 1998, 2004). Je zakládajícím členem ODS. Jiří Šedivý is NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning (since 2007) and former Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic (2006-2007). He graduated of the Charles University, Prague and of the King’s College, London. He has a distinguished academic record. He served as an external adviser to President Václav Havel. He has been a member of a number of international expert teams and task forces preparing policy recommendations and security analyses, including for NATO, the EU and the US Administration. Jiří Šedivý je od roku 2007 náměstkem pro obrannou politiku a plánování generálního tajemníka NATO a bývalým ministrem obrany České republiky (2006-2007). Absolvoval Karlovu univerzitu v Praze a King’s College v Londýně. Má vynikající akademickou činnost. Pracoval jako externí poradce prezidenta Václava Havla. (Ret) Jiří Šedivý is a former Chief of General Staff of the Czech Army (1998 – 2002). For over 30 years he served in various management positions in the army. Mr Šedivý also managed accession steps of the Army of the Czech Republic into the NATO structures and was responsible for the tasks related to the reforms of the army in the framework of budgetary restrictions. He served as the commander of the Czech Army Contingent in the NATO IFOR mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1995-1996). He reached the highest education in the Military Academy in Brno and the U. S. Army War College (Pennsylvania, USA). He is a member of the civic association Jagello 2000 – the Czech Euro-Atlantic Council (since 2004). Generál (v.v.) Jiří Šedivý je bývalým náčelníkem Generálního štábu AČR (1998 – 2002). Přes 30 let pracoval v různých řídících funkcích v armádě. Jiří Šedivý řídil rovněž přístupové kroky Armády ČR do struktur NATO a byl zodpovědný za úkoly týkající se reformy armády v rámci rozpočtových omezení. Byl velitelem českého armádního kontingentu v misi NATO IFOR v Bosně a Hercegovině (1995 – 1996). Nejvyššího vzdělání dosáhl na Vojenské akademii v Brně a na U.S. Army War College (Pennsylvania, USA). Od roku 2004 je členem Jagello 2000 – České euroatlantické rady. 8
Mirek Topolánek is Prime Minister of the Czech Republic and a Member of Chamber of Deputies (from 2006). He is a member of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) from 1994 and its leader from 2002. Between 1996 and 2004 he was a Senator for the ODS. In the last two years of his Senator term, he was a Vice-President of the Senate. He is a member of managing board of Technical University of Ostrava and a member of civic association Jagello 2000. Mirek Topolánek je předsedou vlády České republiky a poslancem Parlamentu ČR (od roku 2006). Je členem ODS od roku 1994 a jejím předsedou od roku 2002. V letech 1996 až 2004 byl senátorem za ODS. V posledních dvou letech svého senátorského období vykonával funkci místopředsedy Senátu PČR. Je členem správní rady Vysoké školy báňské – Technické university Ostrava a zakládajícím členem sdružení Jagello 2000. Ágnes Vadai is Senior State Secretary of Ministry of Defence of Hungary (since 2007). She graduated from the Budapest University of Economic Science. She was a member of a number of committees and delegations (Delegation to NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Hungarian Delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Delegation to the Francophone Parliamentary Assembly, and Hungarian Member-Parliament Delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union). She was the National coordinator for the fight against terrorism (2005 – 2006). Ágnes Vádai je od roku 2007 státní tajemnicí Ministerstva obrany Maďarské republiky. Vystudovala ekonomické vědy na Budapešťské univerzitě. Pracovala v několika výborech a delegacích (delegaci Parlamentního shromáždění NATO, maďarské delegaci v Parlamentním shromáždění OBSE, delegaci Frankofonního parlamentního shromáždění, v maďarské parlamentní delegaci v Meziparlamentní unii). Byla národní koordinátorkou pro boj proti terorismu (2005 – 2006). Alexandr Vondra is a Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Czech Republic (since January 2007) and a Senator for Civic Democrats (ODS). He graduated from the Charles University. In 1990s he worked as a Foreign Policy Advisor for President Václav Havel and the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the USA (1997 -2001), then he was the Head of the Prague NATO Summit Organization Office. From September 2006 to January 2007 he was the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Alexandr Vondra je místopředsedou vlády pro evropské záležitosti (od ledna 2007) a senátorem za ODS. Vystudoval geografii na Přírodovědecké fakultě Univerzity Karlovy v Praze. V 90. letech působil jako zahraničně-politický poradce prezidenta Václava Havla a jako 1. náměstek ministra zahraničních věcí. Od září 2006 do ledna 2007 byl ministrem zahraničních věcí České republiky. Kurt Volker is US Permanent Representative to NATO (since 2008). Ambassador Volker is a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service with over 20 years of experience working on European political and security issues under four U.S. Administrations. Before, Ambassador Volker served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs (2005-2008). He was responsible for the U.S. policy toward NATO, the U.S.-European Union relations, the OSCE, working with Europe on global challenges. Ambassador Volker previously served as the Acting Senior Director for European and Eurasian Affairs at the National Security Council (NSC). During this time he was responsible for the U.S. preparations for the 2004 NATO Istanbul Summit and the 2002 Prague Summit. Kurt Volker je od roku 2008 velvyslancem USA v NATO. Kurt Volker je diplomatem Ministerstva zahraničí USA s praxí přes 20 let v oboru evropských politických a bezpečnostních otázek po dobu působení čtyř amerických vlád. Předtím byl hlavním zástupcem náměstka ministryně zahraničí pro evropské a euroasijské věci (2005 – 2008). Měl odpovědnost za politiku USA vůči NATO, vztahy USA – Evropa, OBSE a za spolupráci s Evropou na globálních výzvách. Velvyslanec Volker byl také úřadujícím ředitelem pro evropské a euroasijské věci v Radě národní bezpečnosti USA (NSC). Během svého mandátu byl odpovědný za přípravy USA na summit NATO v Istanbulu 2004 a na Pražský summit NATO v roce 2002. 9
Robert Walter is President of the European Security and Defence Assembly/Assembly of the Western European Union (since 2008, member since 2001). He served as the Chairman of the Defence Committee of the Assembly and at the same time as the Chairman of its largest political group, the Federated Group of Christian Democrats and European Democrats. In preparing his most recent report for the Assembly’s Political Committee on terrorist activities on the Turkey/Iraq border, he visited the Kurdistan region of Iraq and Diyarbakir (Turkey). In addition, he has led a number of fact-finding missions to Afghanistan, Chad, the Congo and Georgia, which have been the subject of Assembly reports on operations led by the EU or in which the EU has participated. Mr. Walter was elected to the United Kingdom Parliament in 1997. He is a former member of the London Stock Exchange and a former director of the New York Investment Bank, Aubrey G. Lanston & Co. Inc. Robert Walter je předsedou Evropského bezpečnostního a obranného shromáždění/Shromáždění Západoevropské unie (od roku 2008, členem od roku 2001). Byl předsedou branného výboru Shromáždění a současně předsedou jeho největší politické skupiny The Federated Group of Christian Democrats and European Democrats. V rámci přípravy zprávy o teroristických aktivitách na turecko-iránské hranici pro politický výbor Shromáždění navštívil kurdistánskou oblast v Iráku a Diyarbakir (Turecko). Mimoto byl vedoucím několika informačních /factfinding/ misí do Afghánistánu, Čadu, Konga a Gruzie, které jsou předmětem zpráv Shromáždění o operacích vedených EU nebo operací, v nichž EU participuje. Robert Walter byl v roce 1997 zvolen do parlamentu Spojeného království. Je bývalým pracovníkem Londýnské burzy a bývalým ředitelem newyorkské investiční banky Aubrey G. Lanston & Co. Inc. Miloš Zeman is former Czech Prime Minister (1998 – 2002). He was a member and leader of the Czech Social Democratic Party (1993 – 2001) and the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic (1996 - 1998). He transformed a weak Czech Social Democratic Party into one of the country's major parties. In 2003 he was a candidate for Czech President. In 2007 he left the ČSSD party. Miloš Zeman je bývalým českým premiérem (1998 – 2002). Byl členem a předsedou České strany sociálně demokratické (1993 – 2001) a od roku 1996 do 1998 předsedou Poslanecké sněmovny Parlamentu ČR. Transformoval slabou Českou stranu sociálně demokratickou na jednu z hlavních politických stran. V roce 2003 kandidoval na funkci prezidenta České republiky. V roce 2007 z ČSSD vystoupil. Michael Žantovský is the Czech Ambassador to Israel (since 2003). He was a founding member of the Civic Forum, an umbrella organization that coordinated the overthrow of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. In January 1990, he became the Press Secretary and Spokesman for President Vaclav Havel. He was the Czech Ambassador to the United States (1992 – 1997). In 1996, he was elected to the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic where he served for six years as the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security. He is author of a number of papers and essays on foreign policy, freedom of information and other public policy issues. Michael Žantovský je českým velvyslancem v Izraeli (od roku 2003). Byl zakládajícím členem Občanského fóra. V lednu 1990 byl tiskovým tajemníkem a mluvčím prezidenta Václava Havla, následně českým velvyslancem v USA (1992 – 1997). V roce 1996 byl zvolen do Senátu Parlamentu ČR, kde pracoval šest let ve funkci předsedy Výboru pro zahraniční věci, obranu a bezpečnost. Je autorem řady dokumentů a pojednání o zahraniční politice, svobodě informací a jiných veřejně politických otázkách.
